I appreciate how direct this DIY video is. thank you. So many have the first 10 minutes of talking, rambling, tangents, etc which I find HIGHLY annoying. Yours was very pleasant to watch. I hope to make one soon.
I made it, I didn't have enough leather in one colour so I pieced three pieces together with copydex and made it like yours after that, except I made some holes on the front to thread elastic through for holding pen pencil and waterbrush, and inside I made a felt pocket for a card with blobs of watercolour paint on. I really like it, thank you for inspiring me with your video
I'm a publish writer and always need paper with me for note taking and this will be a great idea ! Thank you for taking the time to share this great idea!
So simple to follow! Thanks for showing people how to do it step by step (surprising how many other ones fail to do so). Best thing is we can use existing tools to make these rather than buy one from the shop and never use it again.
I usually can't stand to watch "long" DIY videos, but I really enjoyed watching yours! The music was so soothing and you described everything so clearly!
Zyra Bañez Don't worry about the length! It just bugs me when people make long videos and just talk and talk. But your videos have the perfect combination of music, voice overs, and content of video!
I've recently discovered the Midori traveler's notebook and I became fascinated in it, especially since I recently began writing a journal (and I have a soft spot for leather). But, being the thrifty person I am, I wanted to have a look into the design to see if I can make my own instead of paying £30 for one off Amazon. So I found your video, and as I suspected its a simple concept with great potential. Great video, informative and practical. Now I just need to go around local charity shops to pickup all the materials.
This tutorial was amazing ! You're really underrated for being such a good and helpful artist! I hope to be as good as you when I'm older. Keep doing what you're doing!!!
Hello! My friend linked me to this video, and I'm so very glad that he did. Your video used simple explanations and materials and helped me a lot since other videos show a whole range of materials I probably couldn't afford to buy or find where I live. great work and thank you so much!
Sweet DIY idea! I see a lot of ' improve this and improve that' comments. But that's only be the support u! Just making sure u don't fall! Best designer in de universe!
+BingoBlossom Plays Thank you so much! I am open to criticism as it's unavoidable especially on an online platform xD but thank you so much for the kind words!
This is really cool!! Definitely something that I will keep in mind when I get a job teaching art in the near future. These would make awesome sketchbooks for students. Thanks for sharing!!
Thumbs up. This is just what I had in mind for a back pocket notebook. (Too bad I had to wade through six other vids before this one.) I make my own inserts now, so I'll dimension the cover to match. Best Idea = the pocket divider!
I made myself one yesterday. I've been looking at buying one for the longest, but I can't justify paying 60 bucks for a sheet of folded leather given my current life situation. I found that spray-on adhesive is a lot easier to work with than tape and glue, but I imagine any sort of adhesive would work. Thanks for uploading this video!
Akagism Awesome! I definitely know what you mean. I would think spray adhesive would work better, but I didn't want to buy one since I had the tape and glue already at hand :)
Thank you for such an informative video - your voice is lovely, very professional, and the instructions were very clear. You've inspired me to try this myself - thank you!
This came out great. I didn’t follow how you attached the pink notebook with the pocket inserts. Can you clarify that, where did you attach the elastic after tying the knot and wrapping in through the notebook?
مبروك زيرا ١٠٠ الف مشترك عقبال مليون 100k subscriber I hope to see your subscribers million 😍. I apologize because I used Google to write in English because I Arabic😬💔.
Think, maybe you could make the corner cutting a little bit easier. Provided your scissors can clip through several layers of leather/vinyl, that is. Fold the cover in half, then in half again, so all four corners are on top of each other, then clip your corner, and it will look the same on all four corners.
Hi Zyra! I love your videos so much! But i was wondering if you couldndo different body types as in size in your videos. I just primarily see one size and it would be cool if you did more. Thanks Zyra!!
Why do you use the double sided tape if you are going to cover the surface in glue? This seems redundant, and I am wondering if the glue sticks as well to the smooth surface of the tape as it would to the rough, absorbent "wrong" side of the fabric?
it's optional. I like to do it to make the bond stronger (or at least that was the aim - this was kind of experimental) since I have tried gluing felt with just glue and it falls apart in the long run (idk maybe it's the glue that I've used then)
Thank you for such a precise video. Just what I was looking for, though, I want to add two more signatures than you have. It is easy to figure that out since your video was so great :)
Hello, :) this is exactly the video I had been looking for and so easy to understand. Thank you for sharing. I noticed you had two other sizes. I was wanting to make a A5 size for my daughter who will be off to college soon and was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing the measurements. Thanks, Monica :)
Thank you for the feedback! The one I made fits the Moleskine Cahier large journals (which has a smaller width than A5) and it was 22.5cm x 29cm. Since you want to make an A5.. I'd recommend making the width longer.. so around 22.5cm x 33cm :)
Great video, and I love your voice. It isn't that easy sometimes to figure out all the tech stuff, I sure have problems with it. But I love it for one, very clear and to the point, ( not my strong point Ha! ) Great job!
Nanna SV Thanks and damn! haha I was going for a relaxing voiceover which I've seen other DIY channels do ^_^" oh well I'll try again. And I'll keep it in mind for future narrated videos.
If I'm understanding this correctly, that third hole on the top and bottom of the traveler's notebook is not a hole. it's just a dot marking 1cm from the top and bottom, which will then help determine the two holes that's 0.5cm from both sides that dot (3:34)
does anyone know what can you use to make a hole, if you don't that pointy holemaker- she's using? I have a sticker book that i would like to make into a travel journal book. thanks.
Is "Felt" the same as Flannel Wool? Because I'm WAY too lazy to drag myself to the arts shop, and all I have at home is Flannel Wool, would that work the same? Thanks!

Kimberly Johnson yes it is so beautiful

perfect tutorial, thank you. I'm not a planner person so the idea for a mixed media type travel journal was new for me and I needed this help.
Best video I've seen so far on how to make a TN...I will be making a few for clients, I know they will love your method best..great looking TN!
OMG thank you so much! That means a lot :3

Cassaundra. Ann oh haha thanks! I'll keep it in mind then for future videos! :D

Well that was straightforward. I like.

+Stephanie Baxter thank you so much! that was definitely my aim since the other DIY videos I watch have that kind of style ^^
Can we binding the paper instead of putting the notebook inside?
So close to 100,000!
I guess you can make it thicker with more elastics if you want, right?
Amazing🙌🏽. I like it, imma try it one day☺️
Almost 100k !!! 😄😄😄
xXSakuraNekonessXx I KNOW!! XD XD
Hi which thrift store u got the vinyl from?
Is It Salvos?
Thanks 😊
I love it and it seems like your table has change:-) and cute
Hershey Balan It has definitely changed
Hey Zyra, i love the diy, but i must say that the VoiceOver seems a bit robotic and unnatural.. Just something to think about :)
I agree. The robotic sound sort of ruined the video for me :)
Nanna SV Thanks and damn! haha I was going for a relaxing voiceover which I've seen other DIY channels do ^_^" oh well I'll try again. And I'll keep it in mind for future narrated videos.
+Nanna SV YOU READ MY MIND
thats bull shit! her voice sounds really clear and relaxing so stfu and zyra dont stop doing voice overs
She didn't say to stop doing the voiceovers.
This was so cool I will definitely make one 😍
Diana Navarro Definitely send a photo if you do. I would love to see it :D
Congrats on 100k+ :)
I Love it
Wow it is so cool! I wanna do it 😊 thanks for this tutorial!!
wow it is so cool!
There is a third hole that wasn't used, what was it for and do you use it in the future?
If I'm understanding this correctly, that third hole on the top and bottom of the traveler's notebook is not a hole. it's just a dot marking 1cm from the top and bottom, which will then help determine the two holes that's 0.5cm from both sides that dot (3:34)
Good idea!!
Yay you got 100,000 subbies!!!!
Dempsey Bradshaw Thank you so much for the support!
Where did you get the notebooks from? The last item I need, thank you~
I love it!
Very good video tutorial. Thank you for sharing. :)
Hi, I was just thinking can I use jeans except felt.
I'll be glad if you answer.
Thank you 😊
definitely! I used felt cause it's what I already had, so feel free to use the materials you already have as well :)
Loved the tutorial!!!!
thank you very much!!! this is very helpful♡♡♡
Hi, great video! where did you get the little notebooks?
I made them myself using other people's tutorials
does anyone know what can you use to make a hole, if you don't that pointy holemaker- she's using? I have a sticker book that i would like to make into a travel journal book. thanks.
Is "Felt" the same as Flannel Wool? Because I'm WAY too lazy to drag myself to the arts shop, and all I have at home is Flannel Wool, would that work the same? Thanks!
they're similar so it should be fine.. but honestly you can use whatever materials are available to you :) I've seen this done with paper!
Thank you
I'm gonna do the same thing but with watercolor paper, to make a traveler's watercolor book...hehe
it's so pretty! thanks for making this video, i really want to try this some day! :)
The Art Journey Thank you :)
this is gonna help
