this is the first video where the different sections of meaning aren't divided by a cut, but actually the RUclipsr taking a short break and breathing in. Takes some getting used to, but I love it!
I had my original notebook stolen one day a few years ago. The replacement is arriving tomorrow and I'm so excited!! I suffer from Multiple Notebooks Crowding my Bag Disease right now, it'll be a game-changer to have this new traveler's book. HOWEVER. I've found I need to make custom refills. Their sketch paper/watercolour paper inserts just didn't cut the mustard for me, so instead, I make my own out of 70lb toned tan paper or rough recycled brown sketch paper with cardstock covers. Thankfully, the measurements are easy to figure out if you have a ruler and some spare time!
see that's the beauty of this physical ecosystem this aint some apple bullshit where u got a pacific connector for their atlantic phone like what the fuck all this system is is elastic, leather, and sized paper that's been bound u can always make ur own and like hell is traveler's company gonna try and stop you
Dude I’ve watched dozens of videos on this system but holy hell you just explained it SO succinctly and really illuminated every aspect for me. Thank you!
JESUS CHRIST died for us on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and was, is, and will be The LIVING GOD. Repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in a prayer and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well and have FAITH in JESUS CHRIST. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again, and also turn away from your wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You. The Bible is the true word of God. Please read the Bible and you will see Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Praise only be to GOD. JESUS CHRIST IS COMING SOON FOR HIS CHURCH.
Many thanks for curating such visually captivating video content. I especially appreciate how concise, yet informative, delivering a wealth of knowledge. And now I'm eager to dive into your other videos. Thank you!
Greetings All, Spent my afternoon in Tokyo today. Stopped at the Travelers Factory Store and purchased my first Travelers notebook set, one extra dot grid notebook, a Steam Train Engine charm, and stopped. Too much good stuff and a VERY crowded store today. Everything is setup perfectly this excellent video. Word to the uninitiated: Don’t try to buy the “sample” products (Yes, I did, and I felt pretty dumb….). No Superior Labor Company pen clips today - boo! Intend to purchase future customization products online, or from one of their distributors stateside. (The Mothership was truly PACKED on a Monday 😮). Cheers and thanks again Maurice!!!!
thanks for introducing me to these note books, treated myself to the camel leather cover and a few pads, ive been a fountain pen user for years and love the paper quality at a bargain price.
I've had one of each size about 8 years now. I don't use the passport anymore, but full-size I use the plastic pouch, lined, blank, and calendar notebooks, and a craft pouch. It's very tight but it works. Definitely love the system
Thank you for your video. I'm a user of notebooks of all kinds, but I didn't quite understand the concept of a traveler's notebook, your tips are incredibly practical. Thanks for your talented work, I follow you from Madrid, Spain.
I have a hand made custom TN cover, in B6 size. It has 6 elastics and I love it! I also have a nano size TN as my wallet, also custom. I love supporting small businesses, so going that route and enjoying the extra customization was best for me.
A couple things happened during the viewing of this video. One, I ordered a Travelers Notebook "starting kit" of sorts, and I'm very excited. And two, you forced me to go dig out my old LAMY Al-Star fountain pen which I'd ditched in a drawer because the nib was leaking. I re-seated the nib and installed a new ink cartridge. My love for this pen is renewed. Thank you!
@@Shmyrk on a Lamy, it will generally involved adding a new O-ring between the nib and the barrel - generally white on the lighter colour barrels and black on the darker ones. I would also take a look at #Ellington pens which are slightly more expensive than Lamys but which are generally more of a metal construction, some of them extremely nice to use and solid-feeling.
maurice!!! the entire time i was watching I was thinking - geez who needs a charm. And then you talked about them and put them on and now I am searching the charms to buy!!!!!!! :) great content from travel to this and everything inbetween love it!
Getting back to your videos after a year and have been using both Lamy Safari and Traveler's notebook from your recommendations. Now busy learning how to actually take notes especially for my PhD. Thank you kindly !!
Well, suede is also leather, of course, and I find it to be very durable. I like the suppleness of it over the stiffness of regular leather. I like Traveler's, and used it for about three years, but I switched over to a six ring binder with a leather cover because I find it much more versatile. I but tabbed page dividers, and I can switch pages around so every subject or type of writing stays together, and it always lays one hundred percent flat, which is important to me. I keep watching Traveler's videos looking for anything I might have missed when using that system, but so far, at least, the binder system is simply working much better.
I'm not sure how I have never come across your videos before. You are awesome! Very clear communication about the products you are sharing and how to use them. Thanks so much for your helpful content!
Absolutely the best video notebooks. Exactly what we need! We travel to the United States and I need a calendar and a journal section. Thank you. Finally made a decision
I am very much on-board with this notebook and it's mission statement, but I don't use them myself. For one, these things are damn near impossible to put in a coat pocket and almost always require a bag. Second, I wish they'd put a pen slot in the spine area so you can put a pen inside the actual journal rather than attach it to the outside, where it's likely to get jostled off. I was also personally put off by the need for proprietary refills, but this is more of a "me" problem and my fear of running out of pages at the worst time.
Another downside I see is the choice of using elastics. Elastics tend to loosen over time so you're forced to buy others from them (which they sell). All in all it seems to me a system thought to keep you locked in. I like how it looks, but I don't like the philosophy.
They have a passport size that can fit in most pockets. People have customized theirs to have a permanent pen holder. You can buy notebooks for it that have as many as 520 pages. Most people have 3 notebooks in their Travellers, some have as many as 5. Travellers Company started the concept of this type of notebook, but, they are by no means the only makers out there now.
Cool setup I want to get a notebook for work mainly... but will at the same time get my thoughts throughout the days and when I travel.. love that pen clip!
New subscriber here! I thoroughly enjoyed your video and am eager to consume more. And, as someone who has been using cheap, soulless office notebooks for years, it’s time for a major upgrade. Thank you for the introduction to Travelers! Also, I love the audible breaths between thoughts and phrases. It reminds me of Jeff Buckley’s take of “Hallelujah” off of his album, Grace. Sublime!
Im so happy to have found not only this video but your channel! Im eagerly awaiting my first Traveler’s notebook set up. My husband and I will be returning to the south of France for the first time since lockdown. In the past Ive journaled all our travels but the notebooks have been a mess. Im trying to be more streamlined. Thank you so much for being clear and concise!!
Maurice, your video is amazing and neat. I’ve learned everything I need to know about the traveler’s notebook system. You are so thorough, neat, and professional. I love your video-it’s the best notebook video indeed! Maurice, you are an inspiration. Love your production; it’s so clear. Thank you
Finally found the notebooks I can use every day! Recently discovered your channel and really like your presentations. Clear demonstrations and photography. Thanks.
Dude I just realized how much your voice reminds me of “Bear in the Big Blue House” Beautiful video man. Really appreciate the clarity of thought and explanation
Your vid inspired me to order this, the leather looks beautiful, very much looking forward to breaking it in. Also got the Lamy safari based on your recs, and the IKEA shelf/drawer for my EDC :) thanks for the great content!
Watched this video and set out to get myself a set. 6mo into using both regular and passport TCN and I love it so much. Regular for planning and passport as a wallet with notebook to jot down ideas and brainstorm. Thank you so much for this!
A thank-you and a note on this video (👍). Thanks for the illustration of retaining three TC inserts. I have been doing it differently but I like yours better. Among other things, I think it may close better. On the TC brass ruler, you didn't mention the feature that I have come to like best: the slightly raised edge on one side. Why do I love that? No more ink-y ruler edges! I use a ruler a lot and it sounds a little laughable but this is a game changer, Even super-fast drying inks (which I don't always use) can leave ink on the edge of the ruler and sooner or later that's going to get things dirty. Caution on this excellent ruler: the brass is quite soft and it can bend if dropped. It's pretty easy to straighten out, but I've never had a stainless steel, plastic or aluminum ruler do that. Nevertheless, it's still my absolute favorite ruler.
Within minutes of clicking on this video (1st time here), I can see you are knowledgeable and sincere. Subscribed! Thanks for the great info!! Take care 🙂
I bought this after seeing some enthusiastic reviews like yours, and I have to say - I'm disappointed. The knot in the back makes a bump in the pages, and doesn't allow them to lay flat on the desk. Similar problem with the metal piece that holds the elastic band. All in all, this is just a piece of leather with an elastic strap, being sold for $50, and isn't even designed well. I don't understand the hype.
Maurice, great review, thank you. I was not aware of the TN until your video, having done some research, I have found that September Leather make a very similar product but at a fraction of the price. I bought the standard size TN, without the hard spine. It has 4 elastics built in which in my opinion is much better than the Traveller’s Company which only has one. I think you are paying a lot for the brand name with Traveller’s Company.
Great video! One quick question. You seem to travel quite a bit and it seems that you always bring your notebook and pens with you. How do you transport the pens on various flight (and in general) to avoid leaking? 🤔
Had to finally leave a comment after binging several videos. Great video and great channel. These notebooks look fantastic, a big step up from the field notes I'm currently using. I really like what you've covered so far, and can't wait to see what you will cover next!
Love the ruler at the beginning. Where can I find it? Btw great videos, I love how you take your time to explain all things and the pauses make the video more easygoing
Lol I got the ruler first. It’s solid. It made me appreciate the quality that led me to get the actually journal. You can order it online or if you are in major city see if a store is nearby.
Pretty cool. I’ve been journaling since 2016. I came across Field Notes and have been using them since 2016. I made my own cover that looks very similar to your Travelers cover but about half the size. Great video 👍🏼
Thank you so much!!! I’m new and now a Subscriber 😊 your video was so informative and concise 👏🏽 I’m getting my TN this week …. I can’t wait! I realized after watching your video I should have order an anchoring strap 😩.
That darn ruler, and several other amazing accessories i always want, are always out of stock when i think to go look. BTW. subscribed bc it sounds like you live and die with your notebook(s) and FPs in your hands.
Great video - I have been using the passport style inserts from travelers for a while (no cover) and this has been helpful to decide to get a cover. The larger size seems so big - what is your preference when working with the two sizes - space to write vs size to carry. When I travel - I journal, have pre-written notes for myself and do urban sketching... I don't care for their watercolor art paper - but I think I could customize my own and fit it into the system. Thanks for the video - great info!
I would appreciate any information about fountain pens you would like to share. Great video! I really enjoyed the video on productivity as well. Thank you!
Very interesting. I have kept both work and travel references. I have used A5. College note books, plus a number of pens. I'll take a look travellers kit. Cheers
You mentioned about the high quality paper, but on my journal I can see through the other side, it always bleeds a bit... is this because of my pen? i'm using a uni pin fine line. Great video, thanks for that!
Thank you for this video. I've become obsessed with productivity lately but I'm having a hard time bridging the gap between my desire/ need for pen and paper and the use of digital solutions. How do you manage to balance both?
I’m glad to finally hear someone call the “suede-like” (as I’ve been referring to them) covers as, plainly, suede, because that’s what they are. I only learned about Traveler’s Company products about a month, or so, ago. I immediately placed an order, hoping I’d receive a smooth leather one. But I got the suede, which will probably not age as beautifully as the smooth leather. The only ones I’ve seen with a lovely patina have been smooth. Okay, I’m getting ready to dive into your video, and will probably comment again. 📔
That comes with time as your oil from your skin and constant contact with your hands will smooth it out. I think there is a product that will speed up the process
Wow, what a great ValuAbLe presentation. 😉 And bcz of that, I indeed subscribed! I appreciate your thorough explanation 😊 I was thinking of going for Hobonichi's techno til this minimalist journal in leather caught my attention, not just in material but in usage. 😅 thanks for ur video, i now understand how to use and invest in one 😄
New subbie and doing a little binge watching, loving your content! And oh yeah that little pencil case is adorbs and a must have! Will make sure use your link😜
Hi Maurice, great videos and lots of good information, but I think the links here for the products changed, maybe a revisit to upgrade the links ? Greetings from Calgary 🙂
Hi, thanks for another great video. The notebook looks great, but right away I was wondering how flat the back sits against the table given the elastic closure is centered on the back. Thanks.
Good video on these 👊🏻🙂 I’ve been a collector since around 2012 I think it was. All the special editions are too tempting. I’m enjoying a regular and a Passport Starbucks Reserve TN at the moment. Although I got myself into tomoe river paper inserts too so that’s another story! 😂
I have a regular and passport. My regular gets more mileage than the passport including recipes, bujo and long form writing. My passport is more calendar and trying to replace my Moleskine which has 20 years in my back pocket. (Some fill quick, some need duct tape). The Midori paper is rock solid. I’ve replaced the kraft pocket ends a couple of times and a half dozen elastics, but it keeps going.
Thanks for this video as well as others…! Really helpful 🙏🏻 Beyond the links in the description (thx) if I digit traveler’s notebook company all the results seem, or pretend to, to be the original. Do you have the link for the “original” one to check all of their products? Thanks a lot and keep doing video like this…
Great presentation…very well done. However there are multiple covers for the travelers notebook on Amazon for less than half the price…and it appears they are just as good if not better. That’s not to denigrate your presentation in any way….
I'm so split right now -- I LOVE writing in a notebook, and it's a lot more convenient + more socially acceptable than writing on a laptop, but since learning to use vim, I'm so FAST with a keyboard :/

Finally made a decision
I love my Travelers notebook! I keep a daily activity log for work and these are perfect. Their papers hold up to all sorts of inks and nibs.
I am very much on-board with this notebook and it's mission statement, but I don't use them myself. For one, these things are damn near impossible to put in a coat pocket and almost always require a bag. Beautiful video man. Really appreciate the clarity of thought and explanation
You might also like Franklin Christoph's travel covers. I sometimes put Traveler's refills in them. B-Sides and Rarities is bae.
Awesome video, I am in the process of getting a new planner/journaling system. I need to watch more videos, but Traveler's looks really nice.
Your vid inspired me to order this, the leather looks beautiful, very much looking forward to breaking it in. Also got the Lamy safari based on your recs, and the IKEA shelf/drawer for my EDC :) thanks for the great content!
I always enjoy perusing The Traveler's Company stuff at their NRT shop. I'll have to check out their notebooks closer on my next trip!
I ended up getting the pen loop for another notebook after reading this review. Thanks for posting.
Oooh! Real leather! I always have a smallish sketchbook. This is very nice!
O my god i literally Didn't how to insert 3 notebooks with those bands thank you so much it really helped!!!
Been using mine for 7 years ... love it! Great video clearly explaining everything Traveler's ... thumbs up!
Great video. I just ordered my Traveler's Company notebook.
Thanks for the amazing video this helped me a lot with my notes on my job and my day-to-day writing
Interesting, after doing a sample notebook bundle, it was my second to last preferred paper to write on.
Within minutes of clicking on this video (1st time here), I can see you are knowledgeable and sincere. Subscribed! Thanks for the great info!! Take care 🙂
Bravo! Succinctly written script. Natural sounding voiceover.
You are awesome, Maurice! Love the pace of your video.
thank you for bring this company to my attention! I have been looking for a new notebook system like this.
Maurice love your videos. Very informative.
I just ordered a kit from Amazon in Coffee!! Im still looking for the double pen holder but love this.
I was going to buy field notes. This seems so much better for what I want.
Yeah, I expect this company will be best for refills, not the actual notebook
i wondered if this would happen when i saw that design
These videos are paid sponsorships.
You dont understand the hype? It is advertisement
Opted for Paper Republic for this exact reason.
I really love the explanation in this video!
great video I like your style and how fast and in depth you go
Maurice, great review, thank you. I was not aware of the TN until your video, having done some research, I have found that September Leather make a very similar product but at a fraction of the price. Great production quality! I think this channel will grow quickly.
Great video! One quick question. You seem to travel quite a bit and it seems that you always bring your notebook and pens with you. How do you transport the pens on various flight (and in general) to avoid leaking? 🤔
So glad I stumbled upon this after being a follower of your EDC reviews. Thanks again!
Had to finally leave a comment after binging several videos. Great video and great channel. These notebooks look fantastic, a big step up from the field notes I'm currently using. I really like what you've covered so far, and can't wait to see what you will cover next!
I just found out I have a new obsession! 😄
Love the ruler at the beginning. Where can I find it? Btw great videos, I love how you take your time to explain all things and the pauses make the video more easygoing

Pretty cool. I’ve been journaling since 2016. I came across Field Notes and have been using them since 2016. I made my own cover that looks very similar to your Travelers cover but about half the size. Great video 👍🏼
Great video, thanks for speeding up when unpacking, I hate how others take so looong😅
Another sublime pack filled informative vlog.
Thank you so much!!! I’m new and now a Subscriber 😊 your video was so informative and concise 👏🏽 I’m getting my TN this week …. I can’t wait! I realized after watching your video I should have order an anchoring strap 😩.
Great video for the neat 📒 notebook. Thanks!
Most helpful information about this topic. Thanks 🌻!
Im trying to avoid the foutain pen rabbit hole but with all the journal, planning and other content Ive been seeing I might have to get a Lamy
❤ Thank you for your calm, well structured and helpful content.
That darn ruler, and several other amazing accessories i always want, are always out of stock when i think to go look. BTW. subscribed bc it sounds like you live and die with your notebook(s) and FPs in your hands.
Really informative, detailed and succinct. Thank you, subscribed.
Love your videos dude! Just ordered my notebook
For brand flexible I’ll use a leather passport cover and a pocket notebook. Generally Field Notes sized or slightly shorter.
Thank you for sharing all the this great information. 💜💜💜
I would appreciate any information about fountain pens you would like to share. Great video! I really enjoyed the video on productivity as well. Thank you!
Just found you and love this set-up. Just reached out to the pen holder maker, they are currently sold out
Could you share the name of the manufacturer?
@@crimsondarne The Superior Labor
I have like a Lechttrum xl pen loop just stuck on the inside of mine lol
Finally a Traveler’s Notebook video from a guys perspective that isn’t full of flowers and charms and extra inserts!
Nothing wrong with a man liking flowers
I love having extra inserts myself, it’s modular and more organized for me
Pls share the link of the penholder for the Lamy pens and also would like to hear more about how you use your Lamy pens in your everyday life. Thanks.
I found my way to the Hobonichi Techo some time ago and it works best for me.
Great presentation my friend, best for travel journals
I can make the cover, elastics, cotton sleeve thing and notebooks. Maybe 3D print the charms. The rest is cute but I maybe don’t need.
And bcz of that, I indeed subscribed!
I appreciate your thorough explanation 😊
I was thinking of going for Hobonichi's techno til this minimalist journal in leather caught my attention, not just in material but in usage.
Love this so informative and i think your style is interesting and kept me glued. Thank you..
Hi, thanks for another great video. The notebook looks great, but right away I was wondering how flat the back sits against the table given the elastic closure is centered on the back. Thanks.
Compression lock disk lol 😂………… also known as a tin clasp . It’s a piece of leather with a couple of holes , a piece of elastic and a tin clasp .
Do you have the link for the superior labor pen clip? Tks
Thanks a lot and keep doing video like this…
Thanks man. I dig this note book.
Great overview of the travel books ... could you put a link to the pewter charms you show? They add a lot of character.
HERMOSOS ACCESORIOS Y LIBRETA 🥇🖌️ EXELENTE VIDEO💚🎨MIL BENDICIONES 🥇 GOD BLESS YOU
Nice Casio G-Shock square 😉
Interested in your comments on Lamy. Just got my terra cotta safari and love it.
Awesome video!!
today i learned i'm loading three notebooks wrong. thank you!
One day im going to buy those to note but now common note book is all i can effort 😝
