Totally going to do that pen loop! As someone who has done a lot of leather saddle stitching I just want to say that the method you used is a legit way to do it if you don't have a stitching pony. Also, everyone uses pliers to pull needles through. I have a special fold-out set I keep with my kit. We'll done on all of your mods!

If you don’t have proper stitch markers you can use a fork to make sure your stitching is evenly spaced (obviously choose a fork that has evenly spaced prongs). Mark the holes with the fork then use the awl to make the hole.
About pen loop : I use leuchtturm adhesive pen loop for years with iPad Pro cases for Apple Pencil and it holds rock-steady on any surface I ever tried. Seems like much simpler solution until you need something really custom and just solving a problem.

This is *brilliant* 😭🤩 I have a leather folio that I never use because it fits weird on my notebooks, but it's got the most beautiful leather and I've held on to it because I want to take it apart and re-purpose it. A pen loop like this would be *perfect* for my Pelikan fountain pen! THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video, I feel so inspired now!!

Hi friend! It’s help up pretty well but it has faded quite a bit! My hunch is that it’s not getting hot enough to securely place the foil on the leather! Hope this helps!

Seems like the gold foil pen would be hard to write with but you didn’t seem to struggle with it and did a great job. Also great job on the pen loop. You’re braver than me! Lol
I wuld recommend against the pilot Friction pens. The ink disappears with the application of heat, i.e. hair dryer as an example. Those pens are often used in water color painting for the initial sketch. Then after painting, the application of heat will make the line disappear. Friction pens are good for little kids that want to make disappearing secret messages, just heat.
