If I were the dude, i wouldn't get too anal about it since the car is like a decade or so old at this point. Its in relatively good condition, but I thought it was funny when they pulled out the zip tie lol.

the clutch on 350z is made like that, the pros for a clutch engaging in the beginning is so that when u are racing it takes less effort to change gears and u dont have to use the whole clutch travel. think of it like a short throw clutch almost. i hope u dont change it, thats one of the best things about a 350 and also making it a drift build having the clutch like that will def help u out later on as u get used to it.
I agree! My z was that way with a stage one exedy clutch and it was honestly the best thing cause I could just pivot my foot on my heel to engage and disengage the clutch instead of having to throw the whole leg.

He is correct. The clutch is made like that TJ. Takes getting used to. Also if you get a racing clutch (i had a Exedy clutch on my G35) It feels like it engages quicker because the clutch is a work out to depress. But the first time I bout the car with the stock clutch i was riding it for the first 2 weeks

When you start modding the car for drifting, don't think you have to automatically get an angle kit. Learn the car on stock angle, and as you get better, add angle! Just a tip because everyone thinks they need mad angle when they start out drifting.
I learned to drive on a little Ford Ranger pick up with the clutch throw like that. Hated it. Second manual car I drove was a B5 A4 with a full stage 3 clutch kit with the engagement at the very beginning of the throw, and that was much easier to drive, even though the stage 3 took about 30+ lbs of force to push to the floor.

Yep. My mom has a 15 WRX & I'm not a fan of the clutch. You can get used to it, but it is still weird. On the other hand, the one in my 06 STi is mint. Only has a few inches of travel & it engages nice & low. 👍🏻
Should put those wheels on Danny's 3. They will fit, I've had a set on my 3.

My GTO is the same way. Clutch lets out way at the top and you barely have to touch the clutch to shift and i get that rattle too if its not smooth. I personally like it thought because its a tough clutch on a 550hp car so it makes it easier tbh. Nice new car TJ, good luck.

You can adjust the clutch engagement point on the rod under the dash above the pedal, you'll see the threads. Had to adjust mine on my g and have the same exact setup, stock clutch and lightweight flywheel. Cheers!

I think he's selling them because they should be worth decent money, & he is getting hooked up with a couple sets of wheels from ambit. He would much rather damage & replace a set of Ambits than those wheels.
TJ have your Z checked for oil consumption. 05-06 Rev-up DE's have this issue. Also it looks like your Z is a base model meaning you have an Open Diff. Upgrade to a 1.5 or 2 way. Looks great enjoy it! Don't mind the gear box. It's loud and clunky at times. All completely normal. It's bullet proof. 👍

Hey TJ to adjust the engagement point of your clutch you will have to adjust your master cylinder rod, but be careful a little goes along way, that is if you're talking about the engagement and not the pedal, for the pedal there is a screw at the top of the assembly called the clutch switch/ adjusting bolt to adjust the height of the pedal. Thanks Teeeg hopefully this is helpfull and "Keep Moving Forward!"

Get bumper quick release things. If you are deciding to drift it it's going to be a good thing to do so you can pull your bumper off easy. And dont do a skid plate that's hard to remove because you'll leak stuff eventually if you're drifting
The center cubby on 06-08 don't usually break. They changed it after 05. 03-05 are the ones with crappy cubbys. Car looks good. Oh the compartment behind the driver seat is were the factory sub would go. Congrats again.
If you're going to drift the Z I'd keep the Nismos as a backup set so you can have an extra set to swap between when you inevitably burn up the first set of tires at a drift event. Since they're already curbed, and forged (so they're strong) they'd make great wheels to learn on. Just my 2¢.

I recommend you get the rjm clutch pedal assembly. Makes a big difference in where the clutch engages and feels much better.

@TJ I think the clutch not grabbing until the very top is a 350 thing. I test drove one last fall and it had the same "issue" and that was enough to turn me off. I thought there was something wrong but after doing a bit of research apparently that's just how it is

Maaan I'm happy to see another Z owner! They're so fun to drive and the handling is pretty awesome. I haven't driven a DE in god knows how many years.. I loved it back then though, now I have an 08' Nismo that I'm in love with
