I practice aikido and we're very often in seiza and I was told that it's like a "stand by" position. Thanks for explaining it, and thanks for all these other very helpful videos.

Thank you for sharing that. I've been out of practice for a year due to covid and had a knee injury from kendo just prior to the sports lockdown and I'm finding seiza difficult on my knee and ankle. I've been at Eishin-Ryu sixteen years now and we do have a standing version of the waza, but pride keeps me doing it in seiza. I am very much enjoying your channel during my time away from formal practice.

I always prefer seiza for kata so this is very much appreciated, thank you. But like so many others I will unfortunately do some unnecessary damage. But it’s traditionally beneficial so I will if I can . Standing is currently better for me if more standing Waza are practiced. BTW the cheat curl vs the preacher curl was a good metaphor. Thank you

In seiza position I felt it in my quads, so everyday I practiced seiza position holding it for a couple seconds, coming up, seiza again, until I was able to hold it for 1-2minutes.
Dojo feet that’s another seiza killer!!!!

Because during meetings or other individual appointments leaders would kneel for a sign of respect but if someone tried to attack thats why there was iai.

Tom Sensei when it comes to Seiza I have a big gap of space between my heels and my butt. I can't sit on them. I was told that would be a problem in later Iaido Katas but that It can be fixed with steching the legs and feet. Can you advise any exercises to help specifically with Seiza?
    Thank You!
