Ahhh the 2nd american civil war, so broken.... Ohh and they realised later on, this all happened because they went in blind and rushed the civil war. They did not do any of the focus to gain support for the civil war.

I made the same stupid decision when I played Ottomans, I didn't do any decisions to make the war easier and not only was it difficult but afterwards i had only 17 divisions and no manpower. Then I tried again while doing those decisions: the Kemalists had just one province and after instakilling them I had 26 divisions and plenty of manpower.
@@kidfox3971 tbh otoman civil war is easy at least i had no issues with it but can be tricky sometimes to capture instanbul cuz of the straits
@@SmallPotato2313 No that's easy, all you have to do is draw a fallback line and let them take the tiles just in front of the straights, then you encircle their entire army by going around them and taking Instanbul now that it's undefended
@@kidfox3971 yea i know but not everyone uses such tactics and therefore can have problems with quickly ending the war
I personally set up naval invasion before the end of the focus which starts civil war and i try to encircle instanbul and quickly secure the area usually wins the war in 1-2 weeks mostly
Tbf the us civil war is kinda dog shit, you have to do all the correct focuses to even have a chance

The Second American civil war is so fucking broken in this game i't not even worth considering the gold standard path. Unless you exploit the game or use console commands, YOU WILL LOSE. INVARIABLY.

When playing the CSA, you need to do the Rustbelt and Freikorps focusses first. That way you have the whole Midwest safe and get 48 10 width divisions for free
Even if you do the focuses for keeping land, it switches to the other side. No clue why, but the focus just doesn't fucking work!
There’s also gonna be two stages of secessions on both coasts. If you rush your troops to the front immediately they’ll get trapped when the second stage of secessions occur. I recommend setting up fallback lines near the center and setting up frontlines when the secessions end.

@@caelvanir8557 To be fair it doesn't help when it just flips states with no warning messing up any sense of a front-line you had thus wiping out your armies. I think a similar way on how the British fascist Blackshirt tree does it where you gain support in states that will join you if there is a CW.

If you're going for the right side of the US tree, you need to do the part with invite lindbergh, work with the bund, freikorps etc.
The Bund will secure the Rust Belt/Midwest for you, Freikorps is pretty self explanatory, it's 18width infantry volunteer units that will rise and that you get to keep post war, you can also spend 10 PP to raise silver legion (12w inf) militias, etc.
You should also prep by building lots of mil in the Midwest/areas you get to keep.
That's why you bother reading what focuses do, before randomly clicking them, instead of crying "OMG WHO DESIGNED THIS, THIS IS SO BAD" :D
The only real risk you run with the civil war is not finishing it quick enough and the ai joining the allies.

@@honeybadger6275 TBH, forget the civil war. Don't ally the sivler shirts (as they and 30% F support trigger the war), and just flip on the 1940 election. If you need a war to fight, build up some CAs to try and trigger the Naval Treaty ultimatum (which can lead to wars with Japan, France, UK, and Italy), or attack Japan over the Panay incident.

this is so true, I played as the loyalists and had 14 divisions to the constitutionalists 74 and had control over like 10 states.
@@owensibinga5593 you need to take a few focus before the Civil War fires so you can keep the area around the lakes and you need to "raise the free corps by decisions"
@Macke BO I did raise the free corps and it gave me one division with six infantry in it and that's it.
also i did work with the bund and it still gave the democrats the midwest
@Macke BO I completed the "Recruit the Free Corps" National focus but there was no decision in the decision tab to raise the free corps. I also completed the national focus "Work With the Bund" which is supposed to ensure that you keep Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and MIchigan when the civil war happens. I did not get to keep these states. And the only division the game gave me was a 12 with infantry division in florida called Eagle Legion.

I once did a hoi 4 mp game of kaiserreich when the divided states update came and if you put the Italian incompetence in for the communist faction for the 2nd ACW I some how was able to steamroll around his units and take Chicago and capitulate them in less then 3 months cause the guy wanted to take new England before Canada made it a protectorate the entire world chat was laughing so hard
you're supposed to do a few focuses before the civil war as the USA. The first one that gives you the invite donor desitions, then invite the German thing and then you have to ensure some states stay with you and get the extra divisions focus.
