Even if it stucks while advancing it can provide cover fire some time, confusing enemy making it choose between drones and advancing infantry.

@aaa actually is pretty cheap..every Serbian piece of equipment is only half of price from western competitors beginning from howitzer (Nora&Aleksandar) to armored vechiles (Lazar &Miloš) The only problem is in the moment they can't produce in big quantities (100 they can,but 200,300.. they can't )
They need to instal a canister on top which will be loaded with rakija, so it can be deployed on the front and distribute rakija to the units in need. Very essential for an army to be in good spirits and keep the high fighting morale.

I remember from time to time in Afghanistan when we didn't have a mission or QRF status wed get the most random details. One time we are emptying, organizing, taking inventory, and then neatly put all the shit back. Normally in garrison this was fucking awful XO would show up 45 minutes early and scream at everyone showing up at the time said, every platoon had a different layout order list, XO would come back for inspection hours late, and you get it but what if you could look into some random storage unit it's a giant box of chocolates. Best part is no one was signed for the equipment yet and no one knew exactly what was in there wink wink. Found this EOD version of the reject spartan baby, that was clearly made for Iraq, never used, and had so many big name companies involved. What stood out to me was Xbox made the controller (it was just a 360 controller and iirc Sony made the USB port for said controller??? It could mount a 240b or h probably 240h but only capable of carrying special 50 round nutsacks and if you've ever been with the hog you know 50 rounds is your initial burst to gain fire superiority. We kicked r2d2 back into the conex as he wondered where those sincgars batteries, misc radio chargers, and misc equipment went. You get the idea you find some random shit on deployment if you get tasked with some dumb shit but it's often kind of fun. My second deployment we had access to an Ariel version of something like this but it was super complicated to launch. It could either be fire from a mortor tube or a slingshot set up and 11/10 times we did the slingshot. Last bit here I was infantry for 7 years and the answer I've received from most intelligent people in said field is it's too easily stolen. Imagine spending billions on rd, armour, labour, ammunition, training professionals, and then one guy with a handheld emp disables it. Off to the reengineering/chop shop.
Creator of this content and lot people commenting here are missing one important part, that part is that Miloš is developed for urban and inside buildin use primarily and so it's rural battle field use is limited but VTI is working on bigger platform for that use.
I have participate in development of this drone. Precisely in optical&electronic housing. Prototypes were made from alloy AlMg3, later after positive testing, units fit for service were made from 1/4" armor plate , enough to protect from AK-47 FMJ rounds... But newer given a try to operate one, they allow me just to look from the distance. Feed the pigs and don't touch the buttons 😢 This one in video is aluminium one.
We see excellent armour plate using ceramics far outperforming metals. I can imagine a unit with less metal, less weight, and more resistance to small arms.

Milos-L is probably a significantly more advantage drone. Milos Armed is already a certainty, but soldiers adopting with support drone vehicle, able to do things where it required an armored ambulance which like you said, a single drone can perform at NO risk of the operator. But the energy logistic will be a major consideration for the Serbian Army.
At no risk is relative, if the connection between the drone and the operator is intercepted and the operator localized he is at risk of artillery or other types weaponry fire, thats been seen many times in ukraine since 2015-16 up to now, and in other conflicts like in syria. Also if the drone gets suck or stranded somewhere in the field it will need someone to get him out exposing personal. Also the drone in the video do to its small size suspension is limited in the terrain it can cross. So theres other big cons to drones other than just production and/or maintenance.
It can be recharged from almost any existing vehicle up to 80% ,including civilian cars. For changing batteries ,you need less than 2 mins.Replacing ammo, 2 min or less. Only downside I can see is small range and lack of serious armor,for now

That said, It can get out of most situations on it's own from what I've heard. As for the operator and locating him, well Milos goes with a squad. It is not a single drone operator in an empty forest. So if the squad is in danger the operator is too.

So it's not about "experimental testing"? Some context regarding the name. Milos is named after Milos Obilic, medieval hero (something like Serbian Leonidas), who slayed Turkish Sultan in the decisive Battle at Kosovo in 1389. Pretty serious name, thus let's hope that the machine is serious as well.

I think we may see more of these in the future. Some universal like the Milos, and others adapted specifically for certain tasks, such as tank-killing (armed with many rockets or ATGMs), infantry support (machine guns and grenade launchers), and even close air defense (MANPADS).
Recently, Serbia procured a certain number of M134 Minigun from the USA. There was an idea to mount that thing on Mali Miloš, but it was quickly discarded without any details. However, it is not that difficult to guess what the problems were... Firstly, M134 is heavy! That would effect its autonomy and maneuverability. Secondly, it has electric motor to spin the barrels. Electricity for that would come from its battery, further decreasing its autonomy and operational time. Finally, M134 needs A LOT of ammo and expends it in a matter of seconds! So, you would end up with a vehicle that wouldn't go very far, would struggle with some obstacles and terrain and would be out of action after few seconds since it would be out of ammo...
When I first saw this, I thought it was the droid tank from starwars instead of a real tank. After watching this, I realized I was technically right on both fronts.
Use the rockets to open a hole in any solid wall and dump grenades into the hole followed by a charge and machinegun fire. Pretty scary loadout if used correctly.
Forget machine guns. It would be miles more use as a base for mini drones. They can land on it and recharge. Drive it up a hill and you got an OP for miles. You could get docks for four of them maybe. Maybe even think of a way to rearm them as well?
a lot of informations are classified when one o the first models were being introduced (mostly one with 7.62 machine gun and 30mm cannon) i was at military facility where this vehicle and others were being developed, and even back then they already had plans and pictures of future models that are being presented today ( i was there something like 4 years ago) (i was student and getting a lecture on a class that i choose in university of mechanical engineering in Belgrade ) they did presented it to as and drove it around and all that but they wouldn't answer any questions that we had, like how long can it operate, how heavy is the battery, what load can it carry, how fast can it go and so on, they responded with : we can't answer any question, to be honest i didn't expect it but i guess that is normal for military projects, they did say a little bit, they probably shouldn't but we didn't stop with the questions xD and newer models are a LOT better then the first one that we were able to see
Tačno tako. Ovi prvi sa pokaznih vežbi su imali aluminijumsku zaštitu optoelektronskog sklopa (daljinomera, nišanske sprave, laserskog obeleživača cilja...) Kasnije su kao i za Lazara rađeni od Arma ploča, ali nešto jako mali broj komada, neka proba, šta li... Nešto manje od 20 komada kućišta je napravljeno, tako da pretpostavljam da broj borbenih vozila nije veći od tog broja...
M80 Zolja or Wasp, might not be capable of penetrating frontal armor of the newest tanks or active reactive armor, but it can damage the sensors like aiming devices, cannon, tracks etc also once active reactive armor is used up that's it, anything else goes trough to the hull or turret there is not reason to assume those are the only two anti tank weapons on the battlefield. Also anything else from armored vehicles, trucks, armored cars, MRAP vehicles, groupings of soldiers, bunkers, even stationary aircraft, machinegun nests, howitzers, mortars etc can be destroyed, and has been destroyed by M80 already in the past wars. As an infantry soldier I would love to have couple of M80's if deployed.
@@zoranmarkovic1123 of course but one of the benefits of Zolja is that its much cheaper so you can use a lot of them, and quantity wins often. I'd personally put Maljutka on them one costs probably couple of hundred Euros where one modern rocket like Kornet or Spike costs 80 -200 000 $. And with new war heads they are strong.
I find it quite funny how I believed similar robots will be on the edge of modern warfare. They seemed to be the top level innovation 15 years ago. They were on exhibitions, they were something countries boast. They were in small but advanced militaries, big militaries were getting curious. They were in games. Reality: quad-copters.
Milos would be amazing for providing cover fire while storming trenches, not allowing for the enemy soldiers to stick their heads out and being immune to snipers and at the same time not allowing any enemy vehicles to close up with the mounted m79s.
Anti-Tank drone would be great. Operators would be safe in a dugout, trench or behind a hill operating a drone with atgm to go hunting or sit in ambush.
Serbia has a great army industry but only problem is that we do not make alll of this army weapons, we buy some parts from other countries like germany or russia and than we make the rest by our Selfs and then we Just combine both things..... Most of our weapons isn't made by us fully.
So? Still pretty clever. South Africa's military equipment was mostly salvaged and relics from the past, then they built everything else around it. Eventually they made their own stuff out of necessity, but they became the most advanced manufacturer lol. Their G6 was legendary.
This is an incredible simplification of the production and proliferation process in Serbia, as it would be in any other country. Of course, some components are bought aboard. It is the nature of contemporary industrialization and production. There is very little in the way of full self-reliance in industrial production as is seen with even bigger military powers such as the US, Russia and China. There is no shame in some components being produced and manufactured abroad. They are still assembled in Serbia and designed by Serbian engineers in Serbian plants.
In no way related, but a buddy of mine works on these things, testing their armor plate whatever. Literally the best job in the world. Shooting shit and projectiles at the plates. There's obviously a lot of technical know how, chemistry and whatever involved, but f all that :D
Hmm.. wonder if a Stirling engine could be used to power something like that? That could give it better endurance. Also, they could use a fisheye lens for situational awareness, software could rectify the image at the operators end. An audio feed would help, too. I wonder if lasers could be used for communication> They'd be harder for the foe to detect and anything capable of disrupting it from a distance would be making itself easily visible, and thus vulnerable.
It would not be all that reliable, from what little i do know, for laser comms to be effective you need a clear line of sight from point to point for the laser to work properly, as if there are any obstructions in the way, the signal strength will start dropping off greatly, this is the primary reason why laser comms are mainly (I THINK) used for ship-to -ship comms, as theres next to nothing out on the open water it interfere with the signal strength, plain-to-plane, and theres even plans to use laser comms in low earth orbit for a satellite network that can provide high speed internet, tho from what I was able to find on that last one, that is still in the planning stages. So in short, yes laser comms would be effect as a short range alternative, so lnog as there is a clear line of sight
the RPG/Missile/Recoilless rifle pods are the secondary arnament to the machinegun, there's no reason for the machinegun to pivot away from their direction, at best it could be argued they need a seperate pitch axis for ballistics. For now, it is a single-operator RC vehicle, it can only efficiently engage a single target at a time - the turret isn't stabilised in either pitch or yaw - meaning it has to remain stationary to engage targets. (imagine the camera shake from the MG, lol) if its armor is only good enough to survive small fire-arms, even with its abyssmal operational range, then it means a great deal of design commitment went into it not sinking into the slightest mud puddle presented before it. it is not meant to be a center-piece of an assault, at best it is a mobile emplacement with ambush in mind - or better still, a really expensive utility vehicle. In urban combat, i bet some 5$ radio signal jammer would either give the operator a seizure, or make the delay on the camera output inoperable in an active fight.
It would need to be much bigger to be useful in offensive actions in more open terrain. The optics and electronic components are vulnerable to small arms and has no protection against shrapnel from artillery. Obviously could be useful in recon and ambushes. It strikes me as a great tool in urban settings, saving people from having to expose themselves and still have a way to see what's waiting ahead of them but still have a way to engage something when the opportunity arises
Achilles heel of such vehicle's are electronic countermeasures which can disrupt communication and help direct artillery fire both to vehicle and remote operator.
Maybe they decided to sacrifice that for simplicity and cost saving and just advise the operator to fire from a static position with all the risks that brings.
They exist with a stabilized dome. For the United Arab Emirates, a new type of Mali Milos drone will be produced from lighter materials, which will have half the current weight with a lower silhouette and a stabilized dome. You can see this model in this video at 14:50, in gray camouflage colors, which was presented at this year's Index 2023 in Abu Dhabi.

For me this is the future and sooner or later we gonna see some bigger drone AFV's. This little fella is most importantly a mobile .50 cal gun platform that does not need anyone to carry it. Not a big fan of adding multiple weapon systems at once, I think that "purpose build" drone AFV's is a better solution.
I love Little Milos, but the major gripe I have with it is that it's trying to do too many things. I'd rather it had one big super gun (like some Black Arrow on steroids) mounted and the rest is invested into battery life, armor and optics. This is just feels too much stuff for one small vehicle.
.... engaging multiple targets simultaneously is beyond every armed drone I'm aware of. For a ground unit of this scale & limits, sending multiple units in company or a backstop fire support/protection squad are better options than putting Another weapon & control system on a skirmisher/support unit. This actually makes me wonder what techniques will adjust to address ground drone threats.
I do hope that cameras and lenses are not directly in-line with intended observation line. It would make much more sense for a mirror arrangement such that camera is given some protection from direct fire. That way front protective glass and mirror can be exposed to fire and if destroyed could potentially be replaced once vehicle is retrieved.
5:40 there seems to be a discrepancy regarding the information provided. Earlier in the video it is mentioned, that the maximum hull lenght is 1.87 meters, so how is it supposed to cross a trench, that is 2.5 meters wide?
This could be way more potent with a combustion engine. Most inline fours and some motorcycle engines are very quiet and get way more range with petrol.
Serbian domestic arms industry, has many interesting and quality projects. Main problems are low production capacities and limited army budget. Like many before them, projects like Milosh will probably remain in prototype stage. Serbia is unable to mass produce these products, because it lacks industrial capacity and funds.

Normally in garrison this was fucking awful XO would show up 45 minutes early and scream at everyone showing up at the time said, every platoon had a different layout order list, XO would come back for inspection hours late, and you get it but what if you could look into some random storage unit it's a giant box of chocolates. Found this EOD version of the reject spartan baby, that was clearly made for Iraq, never used, and had so many big name companies involved. It could mount a 240b or h probably 240h but only capable of carrying special 50 round nutsacks and if you've ever been with the hog you know 50 rounds is your initial burst to gain fire superiority. We kicked r2d2 back into the conex as he wondered where those sincgars batteries, misc radio chargers, and misc equipment went. You get the idea you find some random shit on deployment if you get tasked with some dumb shit but it's often kind of fun. My second deployment we had access to an Ariel version of something like this but it was super complicated to launch. It could either be fire from a mortor tube or a slingshot set up and 11/10 times we did the slingshot. Last bit here I was infantry for 7 years and the answer I've received from most intelligent people in said field is it's too easily stolen. Imagine spending billions on rd, armour, labour, ammunition, training professionals, and then one guy with a handheld emp disables it. Off to the reengineering/chop shop.

Creator of this content and lot people commenting here are missing one important part, that part is that Miloš is developed for urban and inside buildin use primarily and so it's rural battle field use is limited but VTI is working on bigger platform for that use.

I have participate in development of this drone. Precisely in optical&electronic housing. Prototypes were made from alloy AlMg3, later after positive testing, units fit for service were made from 1/4" armor plate , enough to protect from AK-47 FMJ rounds...

Milos-L is probably a significantly more advantage drone. Milos Armed is already a certainty, but soldiers adopting with support drone vehicle, able to do things where it required an armored ambulance which like you said, a single drone can perform at NO risk of the operator. But the energy logistic will be a major consideration for the Serbian Army.
At no risk is relative, if the connection between the drone and the operator is intercepted and the operator localized he is at risk of artillery or other types weaponry fire, thats been seen many times in ukraine since 2015-16 up to now, and in other conflicts like in syria. Also if the drone gets suck or stranded somewhere in the field it will need someone to get him out exposing personal. Also the drone in the video do to its small size suspension is limited in the terrain it can cross. So theres other big cons to drones other than just production and/or maintenance.
It can be recharged from almost any existing vehicle up to 80% ,including civilian cars. For changing batteries ,you need less than 2 mins.Replacing ammo, 2 min or less. Only downside I can see is small range and lack of serious armor,for now

That said, It can get out of most situations on it's own from what I've heard.
As for the operator and locating him, well Milos goes with a squad. It is not a single drone operator in an empty forest. So if the squad is in danger the operator is too.

So it's not about "experimental testing"? The number is somewhere like 12 pieces, although it seems to me that there are now a slightly larger number of these ground drones in the Serbian Army 15 pieces.. Only the upgraded version with new lithium ion batteries is operational, which affected not only the greater endurance, but also the speed, which is now about 15 km/h for the V1 version, not 7 km/h as you stated, 7 km/h is the maximum speed on bad terrain. V1 version with a 7.62 mm machine gun, and with the M80 "wasp" rockets, the penetration is about 300mm, which is quite good, regardless of the fact that the rocket is of older production, in principle it pierces everything that moves on the ground, except for the latest tanks, which it cannot penetrate, it pierces everything else without problems, and there in the new version is the M79 "wasp" anti-armor missile with even better characteristics, both range and penetration of around 400mm of homogeneous steel. The range between the operator and little Milos himself is 2 to 3km, but it can be increased via the radio link.... V2 version of the little Milos, is a heavier and larger version of Little Milos, with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun and anti-armor missiles M79 "wasp", or RBR-120 mm M90 "Hornet" or maybe even KORNET... This version is still in the testing phase, but soon he is expected in the Serbian Army.
The production and assembly of the small Miloš, as well as 80% of the components, are produced in Serbia. The 7.62mm machine gun is produced by Zastava Kragujevac, the RBG 40mm is produced by PPT from Trstenik, and the optics and electronics block is made by Senzor Infiz from Zemun. Of the parts that are imported from abroad, only sensors and advanced electronics.
As for the weapons and systems that you could further process and present from Serbia, they are quite new systems ... I think we may see more of these in the future. Some universal like the Milos, and others adapted specifically for certain tasks, such as tank-killing (armed with many rockets or ATGMs), infantry support (machine guns and grenade launchers), and even close air defense (MANPADS).

Recently, Serbia procured a certain number of M134 Minigun from the USA. There was an idea to mount that thing on Mali Miloš, but it was quickly discarded without any details. However, it is not that difficult to guess what the problems were...
Firstly, M134 is heavy! That would effect its autonomy and maneuverability. Secondly, it has electric motor to spin the barrels. Electricity for that would come from its battery, further decreasing its autonomy and operational time. Finally, M134 needs A LOT of ammo and expends it in a matter of seconds! So, you would end up with a vehicle that wouldn't go very far, would struggle with some obstacles and terrain and would be out of action after few seconds since it would be out of ammo...
I think that only one was bought ,the one they put on the Milos vehicle.

a lot of informations are classified when one o the first models were being introduced (mostly one with 7.62 machine gun and 30mm cannon) i was at military facility where this vehicle and others were being developed, and even back then they already had plans and pictures of future models that are being presented today

Mistake in 0:45 - Goliath was a cable-contolled mine, not radio-controlled
M80 Zolja or Wasp, might not be capable of penetrating frontal armor of the newest tanks or active reactive armor, but it can damage the sensors like aiming devices, cannon, tracks etc also once active reactive armor is used up that's it, anything else goes trough to the hull or turret there is not reason to assume those are the only two anti tank weapons on the battlefield. Also anything else from armored vehicles, trucks, armored cars, MRAP vehicles, groupings of soldiers, bunkers, even stationary aircraft, machinegun nests, howitzers, mortars etc can be destroyed, and has been destroyed by M80 already in the past wars. As an infantry soldier I would love to have couple of M80's if deployed.
It can also be armed with Ataka, Kornet missiles, or with the latest Serbian "Nova" missile, which penetrates 1000mm behind explosive armor.
@@zoranmarkovic1123 of course but one of the benefits of Zolja is that its much cheaper so you can use a lot of them, and quantity wins often. I'd personally put Maljutka on them one costs probably couple of hundred Euros where one modern rocket like Kornet or Spike costs 80 -200 000 $. And with new war heads they are strong.

Serbia has a great army industry but only problem is that we do not make alll of this army weapons, we buy some parts from other countries like germany or russia and than we make the rest by our Selfs and then we Just combine both things.....

This is an incredible simplification of the production and proliferation process in Serbia, as it would be in any other country. Of course, some components are bought aboard. It is the nature of contemporary industrialization and production.
There is very little in the way of full self-reliance in industrial production as is seen with even bigger military powers such as the US, Russia and China. There is no shame in some components being produced and manufactured abroad. They are still assembled in Serbia and designed by Serbian engineers in Serbian plants.

In no way related, but a buddy of mine works on these things, testing their armor plate whatever. Literally the best job in the world. Shooting shit and projectiles at the plates. There's obviously a lot of technical know how, chemistry and whatever involved, but f all that :D

A potential problem is if the weapon jams, it will have to return to the operator to have it cleared and put back into service.
The M84 7.62 machine gun rearelly jams and 250 rounds can be fired without the barrel beginning to glow.
Hmm.. wonder if a Stirling engine could be used to power something like that? That could give it better endurance. Also, they could use a fisheye lens for situational awareness, software could rectify the image at the operators end. An audio feed would help, too. I wonder if lasers could be used for communication> They'd be harder for the foe to detect and anything capable of disrupting it from a distance would be making itself easily visible, and thus vulnerable.
It would not be all that reliable, from what little i do know, for laser comms to be effective you need a clear line of sight from point to point for the laser to work properly, as if there are any obstructions in the way, the signal strength will start dropping off greatly, this is the primary reason why laser comms are mainly (I THINK) used for ship-to -ship comms, as theres next to nothing out on the open water it interfere with the signal strength, plain-to-plane, and theres even plans to use laser comms in low earth orbit for a satellite network that can provide high speed internet, tho from what I was able to find on that last one, that is still in the planning stages. So in short, yes laser comms would be effect as a short range alternative, so lnog as there is a clear line of sight
the RPG/Missile/Recoilless rifle pods are the secondary arnament to the machinegun, there's no reason for the machinegun to pivot away from their direction, at best it could be argued they need a seperate pitch axis for ballistics.
For now, it is a single-operator RC vehicle, it can only efficiently engage a single target at a time - the turret isn't stabilised in either pitch or yaw - meaning it has to remain stationary to engage targets. (imagine the camera shake from the MG, lol)
if its armor is only good enough to survive small fire-arms, even with its abyssmal operational range, then it means a great deal of design commitment went into it not sinking into the slightest mud puddle presented before it.
it is not meant to be a center-piece of an assault, at best it is a mobile emplacement with ambush in mind - or better still, a really expensive utility vehicle.
In urban combat, i bet some 5$ radio signal jammer would either give the operator a seizure, or make the delay on the camera output inoperable in an active fight.

It would need to be much bigger to be useful in offensive actions in more open terrain. The optics and electronic components are vulnerable to small arms and has no protection against shrapnel from artillery. Obviously could be useful in recon and ambushes. It strikes me as a great tool in urban settings, saving people from having to expose themselves and still have a way to see what's waiting ahead of them but still have a way to engage something when the opportunity arises

Maybe they decided to sacrifice that for simplicity and cost saving and just advise the operator to fire from a static position with all the risks that brings.
They exist with a stabilized dome. For the United Arab Emirates, a new type of Mali Milos drone will be produced from lighter materials, which will have half the current weight with a lower silhouette and a stabilized dome. For me this is the future and sooner or later we gonna see some bigger drone AFV's. This little fella is most importantly a mobile .50 cal gun platform that does not need anyone to carry it. Not a big fan of adding multiple weapon systems at once, I think that "purpose build" drone AFV's is a better solution.

I love Little Milos, but the major gripe I have with it is that it's trying to do too many things. I'd rather it had one big super gun (like some Black Arrow on steroids) mounted and the rest is invested into battery life, armor and optics. This is just feels too much stuff for one small vehicle.

.... engaging multiple targets simultaneously is beyond every armed drone I'm aware of. For a ground unit of this scale & limits, sending multiple units in company or a backstop fire support/protection squad are better options than putting Another weapon & control system on a skirmisher/support unit.
This actually makes me wonder what techniques will adjust to address ground drone threats.

I do hope that cameras and lenses are not directly in-line with intended observation line. It would make much more sense for a mirror arrangement such that camera is given some protection from direct fire. That way front protective glass and mirror can be exposed to fire and if destroyed could potentially be replaced once vehicle is retrieved.
5:40 there seems to be a discrepancy regarding the information provided. Earlier in the video it is mentioned, that the maximum hull lenght is 1.87 meters, so how is it supposed to cross a trench, that is 2.5 meters wide?
All of the trenches in Ukraine seem max 150cm wide or even less.

This could be way more potent with a combustion engine. Most inline fours and some motorcycle engines are very quiet and get way more range with petrol.
From what I read in here they intend it for operation inside or around buildings, and combustion would also increase its thermal signature

Serbian domestic arms industry, has many interesting and quality projects. Main problems are low production capacities and limited army budget. Like many before them, projects like Milosh will probably remain in prototype stage. Serbia is unable to mass produce these products, because it lacks industrial capacity and funds.
