- After the collapse of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, the new Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was born. This Yugoslavia was, in essence, a union between two countries, Serbia and Montenegro. In 2006, both countries became independent after a referendum held in Montenegro. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia officially created the Army of Serbia on 8th June 2006. This led to the creation of the independent Serbian Army, which essentially got as its inheritance the majority of the remaining military equipment and weapons from Yugoslavia, but also some newer projects that were in process of development.

Congrats on an excellent video, but I would have to say that the biggest flaw of these vehicles is simply the Serbian military budget which means that many of these vehicles are left in prototype phases for decades. This is of course pretty sad considering that many of these are indeed on par with most globally acclaimed afvs
They would be some of the best in Europe, just the Serbians don't have enough money to simply afford completing them, they got bombed the shit out of in '99, They didn't even complete the "Vihor" properly and it would've been easily better than early phase Armata, like FAR better

This is the most complete analysis of the Serbian Army that I have seen so far, very well. It would be good if you showed Serbia on a map so that those who don't know can see where Serbia is and how big it is, it was a very nice map of the former Yugoslavia with countryballs. P.S. The self-propelled howitzer Nora is read as a female name, although it is an acronym for New Artillery Weapon, the SORA project and SOKO were neglected for the development of Nora. Is that voice in the Google video translator? And it would be nice if you played some recordings from the military exercises of our army in the background, for example, there are good recordings for artillery.
PRAGA is being kept in service not as an AA gun, since it is not that effective today, but as an anti material gun. It showed the effectiveness in this role during the civil wars in Yugoslavia.
Thank you for this video.
We, Serbs, hope never to find ourselves in a situation to use those arms. Giving our geographic positing and the fact that we were attacked many times throughout our long history, it is good to have a strong army, no matter how small we are!
We have never measured how mighty our enemy is, but how sacred the defence of our motherland is.
Serbian army is in it's golden age in terms of modernisation and buying new equipment. Even now it is not the same army it used to be 5 years ago, and we are only at the half of the way. We are going to buy a lot of very capable weapon systems, and we are also developing so many our own. It is not an easy job because west is trying to stop everything we buy or make, so we have to "make manuevers" and play very smart.
we still have more then 90% military equipment from Yugoslavia, slow down in order serbia to enter as you said " golden age in terms of modernisation and buying new equipment" we would need probably around 3-5 billion dollars every year for the next 5 years which is insane amount of money for us.......
@@fpsserbia6570 Well since the m84 we havent made any modernization plans as big as this one

A warrior people who always defended themselves. Everyone from the former Yugoslavia got a state thanks to the Serbs. And they knew how to thank the persecutions and massacres of children and other unarmed civilians while hiding behind great powers. Serbs, the only nation-building nation in this part of Europe, are always on the right side of history, warm-hearted and justice-loving, even to their own detriment.
I pray to see Serbia reunite not only Kosovo but also all the former Yugoslav territories. Serbia was wronged by the west and nato. I hope one day she can restore her status as rightful Republic of the Balkans.
Ne daj Bože da to uradimo.
Lol how was it wronged? The republics collapsed on its self, you see Serbia forcefully conquering republics that wants to be independent as right?
Yeah sure very rightful
Same for Italy restoring their rightful lands all over Europe i guess.
No
Really surprised, and a tad disappointed that you guys didn't mention the new "Serbian Armata" prototype tank that Serbian is developing, the М-20UP-1 which is the first 100% ingenuously designed tank in Serbia since all other projects were based on Russian designs. The М-20UP-1 looks to be a huge leap forward in capability, but will come at a heavy price, and will need a substantial export order to have any chance at production.
There's also the second prototype of the M-84 modernization, the M-84AS2, which seems to have a different gunner sight to the M-84AS1.
It wont ever happen.
@@gaja9092 It only takes one rich nation, like Kuwait ordering 250 M-84's back in the 90's. With the amount of development happening in the Middle-East, Africa, and SE Asia, it's not hard to imagine. Iraq has developed strong relations with Serbia in terms of weapons procurement, and a project like the M-20UP-1, to outfit both nations with a top tier MBT, would not seem far fetched, as one example.
@@CH3TN1K313 hmmm fair enough but i still feel its unlikely.

..to be more precise.. history of Serbia, its Army, army industry DOES NOT BEGINS with Yugoslavia or after Yugoslavia, like someone would think after seeing this video.
SERBIA is INDEPENDENT state from 1878, its Army and army industry is even older (e.g. Zastava Arms 1851.)
Serbia was the major factor in making of Yugoslavia (1st and 2nd) state for 'South Slavs'
and so long..
Yes, but those topics are for other videos. We already have a full article on WW2 era Yugoslavia (1918-1945) and will have at least one more for the Cold War. As for the first part of the Modern Era, that one is a bit complicated, so it will be a while before we dip our toes into that mess.
