Ruth used to make that bar (or slice) at Early Bird Cafe on Normanby Rd when it was operating. It was absolutely delicious. Hers had a custard flavoured filling, so good! The recipe was from her Grandmother, whose brother travelled extensively and sent recipes home.

It was yummy, but I bit sweet for me, as I don't eat a lot of sweet foods. Mike ate most of it, so he was happy 🙂
