Your never too old to learn and #2 our souls are pretty much the same age its our physical bodies that age. Thats why the term "old soul" when reffering to very young children who are beyond their peers in wisdom is not a coincidence its very real . I myself was one of those children actually too I'm sure alot of us were. Either way awsome information shes sharing! 😄😃 Thankyou

O.M.G. I don't know why I never thought to research how brown sugar was made....this would have saved me COUNTLESS last minute trips to the store when beginning my bake fests and realizing I was out of brown sugar. I keep regular sugar and molasses on hand at all times (cause ya never know when the mood strikes for shoo-fly pie!) I will now always be prepared! (Also, your slippers are super cute!)

Simple trick here - If your sugar, white, brown, or whatever, should become caked and hard, lay a piece of fresh bread on top and seal the top or lid, and in a day or less the bread absorbs the moisture and your sugar is again soft!! A free tip from a long-time bachelor! S. Carolina

I tried your “homemade” brown sugar. I am quite a bit older than you. I cook, bake, prepare my family’s meals myself and have been cooking since I was about 14 years old or younger. I didn’t know you could make your own brown sugar!!! I needed brown sugar this week and decided to give your recipe a try and,,,,girl! It was so easy! I like light brown sugar and I was so happy with the results! I will probably never buy brown sugar again! I had the containers like you showed in your video and I used mine as well. YOU ARE A DEDICATED WONDER!!! I can’t wait to see what you do with your new freeze dryer! I’ve had mine since May and I’ve been going crazy with it! It’s truly an amazing investment! So sick of brick hard brown sugar will definitely be trying this and thanks for the heads up on the storage containers. I will also be trying your recipe for homemade sour cream what we get in the store is so watery and has no flavor. I commented before about you being a pioneer but what I meant to say was you have a pioneering soul. Going back to more wholesome food through gardening, canning, and from scratch cooking. I have done a lot of this for years but we sold our home of 45 years and moved into a smaller home and yard so no garden we are 74 and 80 and found it all too much to keep up ( but I really miss my garden). You have such a positive view and it is a joy to watch you and learn something new. Hugs Ann

I imagine they also want to cut down any excess moisture since it has to be stored for so long (I imagine that if there was any extra moisture from the molasses, after a long time it might kinda melt? Maybe even if it got a little too warm the sugar would start to melt into the molasses too)

I don't garden. I don't cook in bulk. I semi-buy in bulk but nothing compared to you. Yet I have been watching your channel fanatically since discovering it last week. You are both entertaining and educational at the same time with a wonderful personality.
I also get nervous every time you have jars or open containers near the edge of your island. I'm always afraid you're going to knock something off for some reason! When you scooped the sugar from its container to demonstrate its wide mouth near the end I tensed up like I always do, lol. Love your channel. :)

I sure wish we had Azure in Canada, (If there are any Canadian friends on here who knows of a similar company please chime in). I can't find molasses in anything larger than a teeny tiny milk carton size. Unfortunately I live far away from Amish and Mennonite stores as well. And I have found things on Amazon are just ridiculously priced these days.

I am in Canada, and you can buy molasses at Sobeys grocery stores in one gallon size. Maybe at Costco as well?

On another video, you mentioned not using your beef bones as your husband isn't a soup fan. That got me wondering how you make beef gravy and sauces for beef dishes. Those bones make the perfect rich base for gravies and sauces. Just make a mirepoix, throw in bones, any dying fridge veggies, water to cover, herbs, and some wine. After some boiling and straining, you'll have a "broth" that'll reduce to perfection. Use immediately or freeze in portions.

Not to sound condescending, but I’m really proud of you! You’re a class act! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work. ❤️

My 32 year old niece just learned (yesterday), the difference between a dry ingredient measure cup vs. liquid... I couldn't believe she never knew. Guess when you bake from a box you don't need to know! Convenience is nice but loss of knowledge is a large price.
