Hey everyone! In this video, I am removing the slantback top from my very first humvee. I purchased this truck back in 2016 from the GovPlanet auction. It came as an original M1026 Slantback truck, just missing the doors. I have had many good times with this humvee and learned a lot over the years of ownership. It's sad to see this truck go, but selling it gave me the opportunity to grow and obtain a newer and even better truck.

That slant back looks like the most versatile configuration, don't really need wagon, however can keep the rear dry in the rain.
Slant back humvee is my absolute favorite, also my dream truck for sure, it’s probably a pain in the ass to import a military spec one to Europe lol…

Phosphoric acid is one of the main ingredients used in parkerizing military firearms. Good rust killer but you need to rinse and dry the steel and coat it with a primer preferably epoxy based.
Checking out a friends slant back I could have sworn it was made of aluminum.
Found a company here in the EU that can ship one for me. Price of shipping my ride includes paperwork for certifying for use in the EU. In my destination country it can qualify for historical registration but I need to check if seat upgrade will void historical status. Need that 4 point seat harness for safety since there are no air bags in these vehicles.
Thanks for the info regarding the parkerizing 👍 The newer slantback tops are made of aluminum, this truck is one of the older models made in 1987.
drove one of these in the Storm... we called them turtle backs/// the cool thing was the back hatch pops up both ways... opens from the front or the back

Looks amazing. Your builds are getting better and better. If you take requests.. I can’t find any videos or info regarding the Air Conditioners that come on these thing. Are they called red dot? Anyway, if you are knowledgeable of the workings of that unit, I’d love to see a video going thru and hooking it, charging it, etc..

Like watching your videos, I work at AM General. Presently I'm in the bodyshop. Used to do roof install, among many other things.
Is AM General still building hmmwv? If so what are the serial numbers up to? If not what was the last serial number?

Just going down the humvee rabbit hole. Can you explain the model differences? From what ive read seems anything 08 and up has most of the issues addressed from am general.

That’s the good looking helmet top. Do you know anyone that has doors stockpiled around Georgia? I’m selling my old m998 and need some doors. I don’t think I’d recover my money if I pay the $250 each and that’s relatively cheap. The guy I knew about sold hundreds of doors to one guy which of course is reselling at a huge premium.

If someone removes bump from interior and makes floor flat then it would be better and makes door like rubican and plastic dashboard then it will be best jeep in the world.

Hard top is good but design is not impressive unfortunately, if someone had made fully square like Ford Bronco then it would be better.
If chinese would had made this for general public then it would be luxury
