Watching this video back now, a couple weeks removed from shooting, I feel like I called the thin neck out as a bad thing, but really a lot of players would be stoked on it. I do think this bass sounds great, and most players would be happy with it at under $1k. Warped pickguard thing I wouldn't expect at this price though, that made it present more like a 499 bass than a 799 bass.
Schecter sells everything for so damn expensive we need more budget basses and a budget Schecter E1 instead of having a $999 dollar E1 with in house made pickups instead of EMG's.
@@Highrollinhunter I agree with you in some part. I have a 2020 lefty E-1 Apocalypse (my profile pic) and and I love the USA Schecter Apocalypse VI pickups in it, but I get your point. It is one of the best built instruments I have ever played, but cost not that much less than my lefty 2018 Gibson Explorer.
As of right now my main bass has been the Ibanez GSRM20 I typically use D’addario .45-.100 Prosteels on it I plan on putting a high mass bridge and a new set of EMG pickups
I've had a left-handed version in Olympic White for about a year and the pickguard on mine has that same weird bubble by the bridge. The one item on it I did replace because I thought it was trash was the bridge because there were no grooves in the saddles for the strings to rest in and I had a bunch of bizarre buzzing, almost Sitar-like going on. Yes, I could have used my files to created them but I think the bridge is the weakest part of the instrument. I bought a Hipshot Kickass bridge to replace it and although I lost the string-through ability that Hipshot bridge brought this bass to life! The best upgrade I've ever done on a bass and I love the sound of the pickup. It mixes really well with our live stuff, but it looks super tiny on this 6"1", 300-pound guy.
I have a Banshee and I like it. I swapped the pickup with an EMG GZR unit. Not much difference in the sound from the stock pickup. I have some videos posted here on YT of both configuations.
Hi, thanks for reviewing the Banshee! I've got a Sire U5, which i use with the split only because i like the P sound. Listening to your Banshee it seems to me that its sound is very very close to the P standart scale, what do you think? Do you suggest any other manufacturers to obtain that sound, i mean like the Sandberg VS Lionel that costs a huge price? Thank and ciao.
would you consider experimenting with this bass? I was thinking about you installing the Dimarzio split P pickup. it turns your P bass pickup into a humbucker. Wondering if it could add some chunk to this tiny boy.
Man, while I do like the timbre of most shorties, they just feel and look weird to me, like something's off. Still, I must admit I wouldn't kick a G&L Fallout out of bed!
Very nice looking bass but seems like it's lost some tone and very muddy compared to what I'd imagine a 34" to sound. Once more, a great review but I enjoyed the subtitles and imagery 🤣🤣 Ever heard of J Douglas from Leeds UK? Makes some great sounding shorties, worth an import 😉😉
Not at all! There is a truss rod wheel adjuster at the heel-end of the neck, behind the cutout of the last bit of fretboard. Just like Music Man basses have.
"tiny neck" is ambiguous, is this the nut width that is "tiny" or the thickness from the back of the neck to the top of the fingerboard, or is it both? thanks
I had a TMB30 for awhile and it was freakin' great. Different flavor from the Fallout so it'll be a preference shootout, but the TMB30 is also awesomely inexpensive.
Too thin. I returned mine. I did pickup a Mitchell MB100 though. It has a nice chunky neck, is lightweight with good balance, and has body contours which many shorties don't have. I did change the pickups to some used Fenders that I picked up cheap.
We have seen that rubbery-E thing in a few shorts, but not the majority of them. I think it's kind of a thing you have to check for on an individual basis.
@@davedixon2167What is the best sounding short scale bass that you have tried that has a nice clear E string? I have a Squire Mustang it has too much thump for my taste. My Ibanez Mikro sounds better. Thanks
@@paulv8453 That's a hard one! I have, and have had, several of my own shorties, and my favorite is probably the hot pink shortscale Stingray, which I already owned before I joined the channel and did the review of, and which I HUGELY regret selling.
I'm young, and the second bass I ever bought was short-scale, out of pure chance. I liked how it sounded and played, so much so I've only bought short-scales since. Very good with a pick and flatwounds I think, punchy and thumpy because of the lower string tension.
Chappers called - he wants his "greetings!" back :) I love a good quality short scale and that sounds killer!
We were just holding it for him.
Matching headstock! Love it immediately
Was digging the fun editing in the video.
Love when i see more schecters on the channel!!
BY FAR ONE OF TH3 B3ST SOUNDING SHORTSCALES SO FAR

amen, I would buy this bass in a heartbeat for 499. for the actual price??? meh... rather considering Sire U5

I find it really strange since mine is left-handed and has the exact same issue with the pickguard.

I put geezer's emgs on mine. Love them man. It's surprisingly hard to beat the lil Ibanez!

Nice color. In the future, can you guys do a top 5 favorite short scale bass?
If it had a price tag south of $500 I would be adding to cart right now as I'm in the market for something exactly like this.
They show up used around that price.
Love that color!!!

Good Video Dave!
I love Green ❤

pencil neck gag won me over immediately
This bass or a Sire Marcus Miller U5 short scale bass?? You should compare both to see which is the best short scale bass in the sub $1k range

Upon learning it had thin neck amd flat radius i dismissed it.
Now it's a toss up between ibanez tmb30 and g&l fallout for me
G&L Fallout coming soon to SHORTIES

@@davedixon2167 i love the neck on those, the finish of the neck not so much tho.
Haven't tried the fallout bc the shop here decided not to carry em.

What is the song you play at 4:19? I know the song and it’s driving me crazy lol what is it
Sorry for the delayed reply - that was Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac. I stuck TWO fleetwood mac songs into this video LOL.
was that a Rob Chapman greeting? :O
I love short scale basses
But I’ve always hated whenever the low e always sounds like dead

New?...
This one was brand new - I don't know how long the Banshee has existed, but I *think* it's relatively recent, in the last year or two?
What's up with this short scale hype?
We created this series because we noticed a recent boom in short scales ourselves, though we aren't sure what created the hype itself.

Looks really really nice, but that tooth pick neck is a turn off. If they did a 9.5 radius and 1.625 nut width this would be a contender for me.
