that was the best gift ever! will always be one of my favorite memories
J Lawrence do the glasses really allow to see the 3 primary colors or do it only allow to make a difference between them?
From the way he is describing the experience, I suspect he is truly seeing primary colors. For example, stop signs are not brown anymore and highway signs are green rather than gray. At one point in the video he mentions that the gray shirt is what green used to be for him. Rose bushes have been a big deal, he can now see the colors of the flowers and they no longer blend in with the leaves.
About half the people who are colorblind don't completely lose the cones that sense the colors they're blind to. The glasses change the light spectrum by damping down the other colors and enhancing the ones in their blind range. The brain takes over and rebalances its processing of the spectrum, but now since all the color signals are correct, the person sees color properly.

Well said.
The little boy who kept giving his grandpa a hug though! :D
Mike Morrison so sweet...
I think he wanted the Grandpa to notice him and his coloured clothes.
That was so precious! 😊
He really loves papa
That was adorable
I love the grandkid!! Actually your whole family seems very loving !
So much better than the littler kids “LET ME TRY”. This kid is an angel
Such a loving family! The boy so loves his grandpa, which is a give away to how wonderful grandpa is. Bless your family.
This is so beautiful. Look at how they're all wearing colorful clothing
He better not look at the guy in the tie dye or he'll have an aneurysm.
Lmao
Haha, I was thinking the same.
lol
this is a very loving family -- a pleasure to watch ❤
What a great family, little boy sure loves grand dad. Cool top and pants, can't get lost now can you.
I am so glad that the gentleman was able to see the beauty of color after so many years of being deprived of it.
These videos never get old to me. I really like to see the older folks get these because it is almost a miracle to them. Priceless gift 🎁
So awesome and the boy giving him hugs.
1:46 what a precious moment!
My heart goes out to each and every one of you, big loves sent from the 🇬🇧. ❤️😘🤗
so sweet 😊 lovely family
When the little boy goes over there and lays his head on grumpy's shoulder 😭😭😭😍😍😍
Ray Marie I saw that and loved it also.
very empathic!
grumpy? is that how we call grandpa? What a unfortunate use of word?
@@seanleith5312 He chose to be called Grumpy. He is anything But Grumpy.
I love Grumpy, such a cool guy. Really sweet family too. I love how you guys decided to wear your most colorful clothes too. Nice touch.
You know you have a wonderful, caring family Grumpy!!
What a great video among many of these EnChroma videos. Enjoy!
This is so cool. I had my husband take the test on Enchroma's site because I've always thought he might be slightly color blind & sure enough, he is. Now I want to get him these glasses
That was the coolest video ever! What an awesome family! I am color blind but not as bad as some. I am so happy that he doesn't have to go another day without seeing in living color!
I love this. Super happy for him. That said, I need that lawn ornament.
SWEET SWEET FAMILY CHARISH EACH COLORFUL MOMENT, GOD HAS BLESSED US WITH THE ABILITY BE THANKFUL
ahaha i love how everyone is wearing super colorful clothes for the event
Oh God, this had me in tears.
"I don't believe anything I see." I said the same thing on shrooms.
There's an idea, the first time seeing color with these glasses while on shrooms, lol
My question is, do color blind people see colors on shrooms?
@@jenjabba6210 no, I've asked. Your brain only shows you things you can imagine. There are ultraviolet and infrared colors that normal people can't see, do you see those when you trip?
Beautiful gift to give a lived one!!!
I've watched several of these videos and this one is my favorite.
what a lovely day for you sir.....n god bless this glass making company...surely changing lives😊
A sweet family
Anyone notice how just about everyone is wearing some piece of vibrant colorful clothing? so great all around.
Guy: This is my mom..
Mom: WATCH THE TREE, BEHIND YOU.
To me he didn’t earn his nickname in this video. Seems like a nice man.
Imagine being born in 1943, where benzodiazepines wouldn't be invented for almost a decade later. Then being 70+ years old and having your color blindness essentially cured. The change in medical advancement from 1943-2019 must be astonishing to witness.
He will have to learn his colors all over again
Great video!!
Lol that guy's T-shirt at 3:09! I am an engineer, enginere, engenere...I am good with maths.
Only a mom or a sister can drop a second “watch that tree behind you” in that tone and get away with it
Très belle vidéo.
I can't believe Napoleon Dynamite came to see your reaction 5:31
how much do they cost in America.in England they cost £150.
The way that NON color blind people describe color blindness is almost always wrong. We, in the colorblind world, MOSTLY SEE colour, we don't see in just greyscale. our problem IS that we have no way of defining colours, the makeup of course, what shades they are and HOW to identify them as being grey or green, black or grey, red or orange, blue or purple, green and yellow.... all the SHADES and variations, and how they mix them to get something identifiable as this or that. WE can't DO that, but we do NOT see just greyscale, THAT'S very, very rare. Colour blindness in men, mostly men, is the result of having either missing cones, or weak cone receptors. As this man in the video says green and grey are the same thing. to me as well. I can't see the difference in shaes that are similar tonally. I can SEE them, but I cannot identify them, or know HOW to mix primary colors in order to make up what we see.
👏👏👏🙏
im from iraq and im see the world in white and black
look at the grass
"I don't believe anything I see." This is actually an incredibly fascinating insight form the gentleman, for as simple a statement it is.
Very true, a unique and apt way to think about it. Now I have normal color vision, but my father has what is called tetrachromacy. Basically in stead of 3 color cones like you and me, he was born with 4. Basically people with 4 cones see shades of color far better then you or me. Two color pallets identical to us are obviously different to them. It kind of give you a picture of what it would be like to be color blind when, in a sense we are compared to a person with tetrachromacy.
@@stephanginther9051 Isn't that extremely rare for a man? I heard it's rare but that women have it much more than men.
I wonder what a Monet painting looks like with that type of vision.
@@jimmyfortrue3741 Yes it is, actually its pretty interesting. All good genetic dispositions related to color eyesight are more common in women, and all bad are more common in men. Women typically have better color vision then men just in general. Also if either parent has the color blindness gene a male child can get it, but a girl can only get it if both parents have the gene. Also I sometimes wonder what things look like to him too, I have normal color vision.
@@stephanginther9051 oh fascinating! i now want tetrachromacy glasses
@@jimmyfortrue3741 Yes (sorry it took me so long to reply) Basically, women have better eyes than men in general. _good_ genetics for eyes, such as abnormally good vision, tetrachromacy and whatnot are waaaay more common in women than men, conversely *bad* genetics for the eyes are significantly more common in men that women. For example, a man can be born color blind if either parent has the gene, but a woman can only be born color blind if *both* parents have the gene.
Looking for a true green. You're on a lawn.
I know, kept saying, look down
If he were on my lawn it would be true tan or maybe yellow or beige.
Right!
"SIT DOWN BEFORE WE'LL HAVE AN ISSUE" 😂😂😂
Jay Jay She almost said heart attack😞😩
Somehow youtube recommended me an Enchroma video, not sure why, got sucked in and started watching related videos. This was a nice one, thanks for sharing. Lovely family.
Cassandra Foster i have one pop up everyday in my recommended list .. I love it
As a colourblind person, Wen I saw colours first time, I thot the glasses were broken or smth. I LOVED orange before because I hardly ever got that colour wrongly but after wearing it, orange was ugly and red seemed pink. I finally understood why people sad red looked like pink. And also, the worst part... people looked so BLAND. Like I saw why people were multicoloured. Everybody used to look kinda green.
Kinda green 😅😅😅😂😂💚 that's great!
So you indeed saw little green men, after all. :-P
@ I assure you, now 3.5 years later, he absolutely CAN see colors he never saw before. No we didn't make him take a color blind test, because this was a surprise. And we've witnessed him not seeing red or green our entire lives, there was no question he was colorblind. And we have piles of hunting and shooting glasses, none of them ever had an even remotely similar result as Enchroma.
where did you get that cool garden
sculpture??
That was a gift to my mother-in-law, she'll be very pleased you noticed. We found it at a local store where we live - lots of local craftsmen stuff. But you can probably find a retailer by googling "Wind Spinner".
That sculpture was the first thing I noticed as soon it went into the frame. Jealous.
Your title says he sees color for the first time but in the description you say he is red-green colorblind. i always thought you just cant tell the difference with that colorblindness
i love that thing.very cool.
Susan Stewart- i like
It too lol
There are different types of color blindness, and the young man may find the right type of glasses for HIM. Go back to the EnChroma site, and ask about a test for his type of needs. At least you should try.
it is unbelievably beautiful. thank you for providing such thing.
the boy in red is so lovely. I'm very glad for that
Pri Sol isnt it orange? Im colorblind so I might be confused
Shut Up I'm Meditating no I'm sorry to say that. It's red. what about to get an Enchoma Glasses ?
Pri Sol theyre on their way :) just ordered them yesterday and anxiously waiting
Shut Up I'm Meditating i hope they work on you! good luck.
is not a full red like the youtube logo, but it's redish sort of in between orange and red
+Shut Up I'm Meditating // Make a video when you put them on for the first time. :)
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing. And that grandkid ... he clearly loves his grandpa, what a nice bonus. Oh, my heart, hehe.
What a sweet grandson, he was so happy for his paw paw
i love when old ppl r happy
I love how everyone wore they brightest shirt !!! So cute :)
Watch the tree behind you.. watch the tree behind you.
You see, this is a company that really changes lives, this is really making an impact. They don't need to make advertisements, they can just use videos like these, this is what real happiness is.
So right
Sorry to tell you... This kind of videos are their advertisements. Most of them are scripted marketing videos. Yeah, hard to believe but i think you must know it.
@@Darkkavatar NOT SCRIPTED! Yes, our family planned this reveal but this was an actual surprise for Grumpy and that is his genuine reaction.
i wish my family filled with lots of love like this:(
My prayers for you and your family 💖🤗
Make your future family filled with love instead, God bless
@@nathanbell6962 Exactly :). Create any family that you like to have! ❤️
The things we take for granted
Jeffrey Davis may God be blessed and praised. All the things we take for granted are amazing gifts to us from Him.
well, but give at least some credit to the scientists who spent ten years developing the technology for these eyeglasses. If I had to choose where my charity dollar goes, it'd go to this kind of research instead of to a church.
I would also be grumpy if I never saw colour. Lovely gentleman, such a happy moment💖
I love the young boy gives him a big hug..
Id encourage other people thinking about doing something similar for their own colorblind family member to take more care to not ask so many questions that serve only to verify what's going on to you and your fellow observers. This has to be a really emotional moment for people wearing it for the first time, they probably aren't ready to be so emotionally vulnerable around their entire family and probably feel a little embarrassed. Not to disrespect the people in this video!
I wish God bless, This Family & the glass-company~!!
I'm grinning ear to ear, I don't know this man, but I am so happy for him.
It's very nice to see a "new world" when we're old, it arouse our curiosity again.
Beautiful! Get so happy for people looking at these videos! Was laughing a bit extra though when he said "I'm looking for a true green" sitting on grass in the yard, hihi. Happy for you old man! Wish you a happy colorful future!
I almost wish I was always colour blind so I could experience this. It just seems so amazing I can't wrap my mind around it... I mean, can you even imagine seeing a new colour? Let alone all of them. It would feel like magic.
Lol..
I know this is coming super late after your comment. But I totally get what you mean about seeing strange colors.
Thank God for the grace to see.
Wish you well
Such a cool video with people wearing many colors and BOOM the balloons !!! Great idea !! Awesome people :)
Loorou I saw one of these vids and the big reveal was in an ugly parking lot with no particular colours, the balloons were still in the box and the other people were wearing drab colours.🤷♀️ The guy was still blown away though.
Hello from Canada. What a nice day for all. It is so nice that James gave his caring hugs too. Well done everyone!
What a wonderfull family, congrats !
What a lovely family. I'm happy for them all!
This are Awesome! wish I knew someone who was colorblind to give these too!
Amazing he's so cute!!!
I love this so much. I cried and laughed. This family is so lovely.
amazing..what a fine family..
Love that the family didn't bombard him and allowed him the quiet moments to take in this wonderful gift.
I love the stoner grandson waltzing in with that awesome shirt
James (the little boy) is such a sweetheart! He is so involved in his Grumpys journey and keeps on checking in with him.
Thank Jesus for this wonderful miracle.
It is a pleasure watching people who seem to genuinely like eachother. The reaction to the glasses is a plus.
I'd love to slap the handful of people who thumbed this down
3:04 guy in cat shirt. me irl
I'm so delighted for this lovely man, best of luck to you ,what a great family
These videos are wonderful but I wish the people who upload them would say the type of colour blindness the people have.
That's Great!
Next time everyone should be assigned a specific solid color! Grandpa would loved it! That said.... Grandpa loved it!
Watch the tree behind you!
Wish I had a decent family.
надо же только в старости он увидел мир таким какой он есть! он так много пропустил в этой жизни, очень жаль..но радость в том,что он хотя бы раз в жизни увидел все это
I would think this would have to best gift someone could ever get.
Oh my goodness what a sweet little boy that came up and hugged him first. Whoever raised that boy, kudos. He had understanding and compassion
1:54 makes my heart happy
So great.
im soo happy for this people
This is wonderful. So happy for Grumpy! What a beautiful gift.
I love the grandson goes over to him leans on his shoulders!
It should say, "76 YEAR old sees...", not "76 YEARS old sees...". If your using it as an adjective (as you did) then there is no S on the end. It's correct to say "a 76 year old man", or "a man that is 76 YEARS old". You only use an S if it comes after the noun.
You're welcome
I used to have a client who was colorblind. One day he told me he had gone to buy some pants and the next day when he put them on, his wife said "honey, where did you get those pants?" He told her. She said "where are you planning on wearing them?" He said just to work around the house and stuff, I guess. She said "do you know what color they are?" I don't remember what color he told her, but she was like "no, honey. They're pink" 😂
The women in that family seem way too bossy.
