- This video is intended to raise awareness of color blindness. Many people don't even realize they are color blind. Many children can be ridiculed for it. Most normal color vision people have no idea what the world looks like to color blind people. Have a glimpse at how red-green color blind people experience the world, and hear from their families how it affects them, as three women surprise their severely color blind husbands with color blind glasses for Christmas.
If the side-by-side pictures look the same to you, you're probably color blind. There are different types of color blindess and this video focuses on red-green. Our husbands took the test at www.enchroma.com.
Filmed in Stortorget, Gamla Stan, Stockholm, Sweden.
Original song "I'll Stay" lyrics by Jenny Syquia Skarne
The guys were like Ok, yeah, cool, whatever...
I want to imagine them, later on, closed in the bathroom crying while reading a comic book...
Very well presented video and to me the reaction of these men are so very Swedish and
quiet which is kind of expected and charming in their way.
I completely agree. Very well put
The comparisons were a great way of helping understand what it’s like. Well done
Could have kept the background singing too much
You can see for yourself by using the flashlight on your phone.. Close one eye TIGHT and put the light up to it for 30 seconds or so than look at something red. Its completely different. Make sure you keep the other eye closed. Than go back and forth opening one eye at a time to see the difference.
Thank for the comparisons! Now I can really see what it’s like.
Yes I had no idea it was like this!
TANKE YOU ENCHROMA FOR my NEW VISION OF LIFE!
Thanks for watching!
Subhanallah... The world so colourful...
Cool video. A bit of a "ok, now what?" feel with their reactions....but I'm hearing it's because they're Swedish (I think).
Do one with a Texan, a Bostonian and a dude from Detroit. That! Will be an awesome "watch this" video.😄
A very emotional moment in a swedish couple:
swedish wife: my love, i have a surprise. I am pregnant.
swedish husband: really? how nice...
swedish wife: yes,... we are going to have our first kid ...
swedish husband: yeapp!
swedish wife: are you happy?
swedish husband: yes, i am. .. but lets heat the dinner, i am starving.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was expecting more of a response from them all
I learned a lot about being color blind that I never knew. These videos usually just show the reaction of people but this one shows how the colorblind people see stuff so that’s cool. Plus glad I’m not colorblind!
I learned just as much about being a Swedish man!!
It's not like there's a way to know what another person sees. These are just images edited in Photoshop. We all technically sees somewhat different from person to person. Just not as drastic.
I agree! I did the same too
Great wives!
:) Thanks! :)
The most anti-climactic reaction I've ever seen......
Thanks for your comment :) I hope the video raises awareness of what life is like for color blind people so that people with normal color vision can be compassionate about their challenges. These men are all severely color blind so it can take weeks for their brains to adjust. They will probably never know the beauty of purple but did see changes in red and green.
Let's just say it was very reserved. They are Swedish (or lives in)
and they are not well known for open emotions.
No kidding.... are all Swedes that stoic?
@@catkatt2855 No, there are people in Sweden that has grown up in another culture that are much better att showing emotions. We can learn a lot from them 😅❤️
But it's interesting. In some way emotional or not having control of emotions is being weak.
Swedes are very aware and trend sensitive. The commercials shows strong masculine men and the movies shows strong men. And then that becomes our role model. This is true in some, but not all ways.
Interesting with cultural differences and how they occur.
I'll play devil's advocate and say something sexist ...
There was no way three men were going to break down and weep in front of each other and in the middle of the city.
As a colour blind person, the comparisons are interesting. At first I thought them useless as they were obviously different but by midway through the video, almost all of them basically looked the same. Sometimes I could see that the red had been muted like in the dog and balloons photo but the paintings and the cityscapes basically all look the same to me... hmm... My kids make fun of me when I screw up... and we all have a good laugh but it would be nice to see what the rest of you all see.
Have you gotten a pair yet?
And then there are those of us who are super color seers, Tetrachromats. We can see almost 10 million more colors or shades of colors than the average person. Only women are known to do this.
I’m sure they got emotional in private at home in a locked room on their own. Good grief those dark winters months are problematic.
LOL
For over a week I have been studying videos like this because my husband is colourblind, and is an amateur artist....a naive artist perhaps because his colours are a bit off. He grew tiny Roma tomatoes this year and never knows when to pick them except that they might look darker. He does paintings of around our home and garden and last week finished one which had a small patch of tomato plants in the scene, and the garden painting is wonderful, but he told me he guessed what the red was like and put lots of red dots all over the plant!
I've ordered his enchroma glasses and here in Australia it's summer so he will finally see our large garden and a sunset and all things in colour....even tomatoes. I've not seen what he sees before this....all those dead colours. It makes me feel so sad, it breaks my heart. I will film him maybe in a week..I can't wait! Thank you for your heartfelt and poignant story of your husband's experiences and yours with them.
So did you make a video?
Very underwhelming reactions.
vicki duval 100% 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I'm hoping that in private these men showed more appreciation.
Wow
What it's really like to be colorblind:
1) You have an anxiety attack when you approach a traffic light, hoping that you will be able to distinguish among the slight color differences.
2) Similarly, you're driving down a street and you're surprised when one of the street lights suddenly turns yellow (or is it red?).
3) You look at the map on the TV weather report and try to figure out which type of warning your location is in, because the weatherman is claiming that there are multiple colors on the map.
4) You look at a diagram which shows where to connect each of the different colored wires, but all of your wires are one of only two colors.
5) Etc.
Oh, GEE…If I win the Lottery, I’ll BUY MANY Enchroma glasses & distribute them so color blind people can experience the true world…. 👍🏼👣🩴
These guys are as dry as cork lol
The guys were less than excited....like yeah, whatever
Unemotional
That was about as exciting as a cardboard box.
Happy New Year in Color's
Happy New Year! :)
🤔😅 Which huuuuge Happyness...they ruined the whole Clip, with their cold Reactions...😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣
Interesting video as many other color blind videos are. However the most impressive thing to me is how the Swedes have mastered the English language, better than many Americans.
Now make something like this for monoscopics - people like me who cannot see in three dimensions. To us, the entire world is flat, like looking at a screen where a movie is projected. Nothing is solid. Make us something that will bring the world to life.
They don't seem very excited ! Long video waiting for a great reaction but almost nothing happened.
All 3 of those men are holding their emotions back and that is what is wrong with the male culture.
Wonderful!!!
Thank you! :)
The song was beautiful. Hope they enjoy colors like we do.
Great job guys and thanks for the comparisons but whatever you do never ever sit me next to these three guys at a party! 😂😂😂
I expected a little more excitement from the guys, didn`t seem all that impressed.
🤣Stoic Swedes. Nothing can shake a Viking!😂
Typically Swedish ppl reaction
This was my very favorite of all the Enchroma videos right up until the big reveal. Kind of anti-climactic. LOL
Lovely video. I wish, though, that more time was given to their reactions, which are the really emotional part of watching. X
To see the world with 90% more color has got to be like re-discovering 90% of the world one thought they already knew.
WW2 Colour deficient people were used as spotters from planes because they can find edges easier then normal vision. From birth the eyes are lacking in the red green spectrum so the brain washes everything together. When you are not distracted by colour you learn to spot edges in a flat surface, just like the mushrooms. Then they mentioned how the distances changed, (ie depth perception). Being suddenly able to see colours they realize things are not as flat as they thought. Its quite fascinating to see because so many have the very same reaction. You will notice they dont use the word shades because they dont see much but grey or brown. The real proof that they worked is when they say "do you guys see this all the time" or "is this what you guys can see?") Ten percent of males are colour deficient but only one in two hundred females will have it. The females have a backup set of genes to fill in for any damaged or missing DNA and is also the reason why so many males like my son have Autism. Any videos of women trying these glasses is worth gold, they usually turn to mush get weak in the knees and cry like babies.
I love the comparison pictures! There is a beauty in how they see the world, but to see it all is amazing.
Love this! :D
Thank you! :)
53 people need to check themselves...really lacking compassion! Love these happy moments in a very sad and strange wOrld!
Thank you for your kind comment! I hope the video raises awareness and absolutely compassion :)
i've never seen a video without dislikes, its odd. Even when its a most wonderfull thing.
Why are they speak Eanglish so good... I know Nordic people's speak 4-5 languages..but they speak good much better then in Finland
Why do people always ask the same ill considered questions. If you've only lived in the Sahara, it's silly to ask if you've ever missed snow. Then, when you change someone's objective reality, to ask them "what do you see" when they need to literally stop and spend the next twenty minutes processing and assimilating a significant paradigm change, is at best shortsighted.
sorry to say this. However, these glasses cannot make people who are color blind see what people with normal vision see. The glasses only make the colors they see more vibrant so they can see colors that were previously difficult for them to distinguish. like green and red. sorry for destroying your dreams.
Hey, let’s bring these guys who’ve never seen color to the middle of a town square surrounded by buildings with no nature around. 🙄 Whose idea was that?? If ya learn one thing from all these enchroma clips is that the most emotion colorblind people feel is when they see things in nature more. Trees, bushes, flowers, skyline. They barely had a reaction to them cuz of where u brought them. And ya add this music to make it seem more emotional.
I thought these folks were Americans. It's amazing how they all speak such unaccented English!!!
Great awareness video! I had no idea color blindess was like this!
Excellent video. You really can't appreciate what they are living with, unless you can see it for yourself.
7:18 " I haven't tried . . . I haven't been picking mushrooms . " also, 5:49 without? "I have no idea, it's my only life" We humans have 100+ Super Powers. I've heard of how people with some "lack" tend to compensate with other strengths, but I'd never heard of the mushroom super power before. Interesting ! Do you imagine that snakes pity humans since we can't see thermally ? B-)
Hello, my name is Arun, I am from Nepal, I am also color blind because of this color blindness, now I have lost many good jobs.
Well, that all went a bit flat, because men being men want to keep being cool and manly and unaffected. And please ditch the music.
Thank you for this video....Im aware now what color blind is....
Americans cry their eyes out when the colors hit them, but swedes.... they make a dry joke.... haha....
Sophia roasting Michael for not being able to tell rare from well done is probably a sign of a good marriage! She loves her husband enough to get a light jab at him and not have it come across as vindictive.
This glasses is very expensive in Nepal I think about one lakh please someone help me to fulfill my goal I don't have much money so please help me to buy this glasses
Yeah, I was expecting a bigger reaction, and, it was just as full as their view of the world they are used to..
“What are these gray balloons?”😢😢😢 they were being for real ❤ God bless everyone
Now we know why the Grinch hated Christmas! All he needed was Enchroma glasses!
This should be possible using a computer program that would change the colors on the screen
With the comparison photos, they look the same to me! I wish I could see normal colors!!!
such a beautiful scenery around them , and no emotion to seeing color, blancos desabridos 😒
Every time I watch videos where people are like, "That building is so red!" I just think -- how would you know that building was red without asking someone, if you've never seen red before?? Bizarre.
I am colourblind of red & green but I can see red, I think it depends on the tones & shades of a particular colour. For example, if I had lots of red colouring pencils in different shades and someone put a brown in with them I probably wouldn't be able to tell but again depending on the type of shade/tone. So I could still see that the building in this video was red but it may look duller than to someone who isn't colourblind. Hope that makes sense 😀
These guys didn't seem to be particularly impressed at all by their news glasses.
What an uplifting video, thank you!
They should make glasses for people who can see color that makes the see the world as a colourblind person
Red and green are opposite colours. Ig makes sense that people can’t see both in a natural way
Rather underwhelming response😅😅
So much preparing the surprise and none of the three showed any emotion hahaha
Lykke til i Sverige 😎👍
They weren’t as emotional as other people I have seen in videos.
The video is not to raise awareness, it's an advertisement, be honest.
This video is more about the wives than the husbands.
We need glasses to take away color, so we can be so much more appreciative for our color vision. I love these stories of love❤
Can't we just close our eyes? 😄
Hanno avuto una reazione molto....Svedese.
what about tritan type it is bleu and yellow trouble
The glasses are fake. So this video is too...smh
boring
Get rid of the balloons.
Music very very boring... 😛
So welly produced and thought out.. such a gooooooooood job with this..
Simply amazing and I've seen hundreds of these videos..
Love from DC
Oh they didn’t cry. They are so calm
How do color blind people know color
The normal pictures and color blind pictures are identical in color to me
So maybe u r colour blind too
Did you notice much difference between the indoor and outdoor glasses, were the outdoor ones more vibrant with colours?
Do they work at night when it is darker out?
Dang it, the ninjas are slicing onions again.
I need colour blind glasses
The underrated invention..
I'm always impressed by these people speaking flawless idiomatic English. It's astonishing!
Some cool ass dude’s 🎯
Very cool, but also funny whenever the comparison pictures came up, they looked identical to me! I should get a pair of these glasses!
Pretty amazing.
Crrrrriiiiingeeeee
I've seen so many of these videos and the colorblind trying to explain how they see...so to see your examples put it in another category and helps ppl see what they actually see so thank you for the video 🕊️💗 from Georgia USA
👏👏👏👏👏
Every time I put on my sunglasses and I can see reds become more rich & vibrant I think about how lucky I am to be able to see colour at all. Bizarrely I’ve never known or taught anyone with colourblindness, I’ll re phrase that to no one who knew they were. 1 in 200
Is a lot!
I couldn't see any difference between the two photo comparisons because I have red green colour blindness. ☹️
I think the guys might have had more of a reaction, if they had received them in the context that they had needed to see color more. Like the guy seeing tomatoes, other guy cooking a stake & the guy on his boat seeing the bouy colored lights & the ocean water.
Loved the pic comparisons & the stats on colorblindness!
Lucky men
I got more emotional than those guys.. lol.. I feel like a wimp now.. thank you guys very much
