Color blind awareness! 3 wives surprise their husbands with EnChroma glasses Stockholm Sweden

  • This video is intended to raise awareness of color blindness. Many people don't even realize they are color blind. Many children can be ridiculed for it. Most normal color vision people have no idea what the world looks like to color blind people. Have a glimpse at how red-green color blind people experience the world, and hear from their families how it affects them, as three women surprise their severely color blind husbands with color blind glasses for Christmas.
If the side-by-side pictures look the same to you, you're probably color blind. There are different types of color blindess and this video focuses on red-green. Our husbands took the test at www.enchroma.com.
Filmed in Stortorget, Gamla Stan, Stockholm, Sweden.
Original song "I'll Stay" lyrics by Jenny Syquia Skarne

quiet which is kind of expected and charming in their way.

You can see for yourself by using the flashlight on your phone.. Close one eye TIGHT and put the light up to it for 30 seconds or so than look at something red. Its completely different. Make sure you keep the other eye closed. Than go back and forth opening one eye at a time to see the difference.

Cool video. A bit of a "ok, now what?" feel with their reactions....but I'm hearing it's because they're Swedish (I think).
Do one with a Texan, a Bostonian and a dude from Detroit. That! Will be an awesome "watch this" video.😄

A very emotional moment in a swedish couple:
swedish wife: my love, i have a surprise. I am pregnant.
    swedish husband: really? how nice...
swedish wife: yes,... we are going to have our first kid ...
    swedish husband: yeapp!
    swedish wife: are you happy?
swedish husband: yes, i am. .. but lets heat the dinner, i am starving.

Thanks for your comment :) I hope the video raises awareness of what life is like for color blind people so that people with normal color vision can be compassionate about their challenges. These men are all severely color blind so it can take weeks for their brains to adjust. They will probably never know the beauty of purple but did see changes in red and green.

@@catkatt2855 No, there are people in Sweden that has grown up in another culture that are much better att showing emotions. We can learn a lot from them 😅❤️
But it's interesting. In some way emotional or not having control of emotions is being weak.
Swedes are very aware and trend sensitive. The commercials shows strong masculine men and the movies shows strong men. And then that becomes our role model. This is true in some, but not all ways.
Interesting with cultural differences and how they occur.

As a colour blind person, the comparisons are interesting. At first I thought them useless as they were obviously different but by midway through the video, almost all of them basically looked the same. Sometimes I could see that the red had been muted like in the dog and balloons photo but the paintings and the cityscapes basically all look the same to me... hmm... My kids make fun of me when I screw up... and we all have a good laugh but it would be nice to see what the rest of you all see.

For over a week I have been studying videos like this because my husband is colourblind, and is an amateur artist....a naive artist perhaps because his colours are a bit off. He grew tiny Roma tomatoes this year and never knows when to pick them except that they might look darker. He does paintings of around our home and garden and last week finished one which had a small patch of tomato plants in the scene, and the garden painting is wonderful, but he told me he guessed what the red was like and put lots of red dots all over the plant!
I've ordered his enchroma glasses and here in Australia it's summer so he will finally see our large garden and a sunset and all things in colour....even tomatoes. I've not seen what he sees before this....all those dead colours. It makes me feel so sad, it breaks my heart. I will film him maybe in a week..I can't wait! Thank you for your heartfelt and poignant story of your husband's experiences and yours with them.

What it's really like to be colorblind:
    1) You have an anxiety attack when you approach a traffic light, hoping that you will be able to distinguish among the slight color differences.
    2) Similarly, you're driving down a street and you're surprised when one of the street lights suddenly turns yellow (or is it red?).
    3) You look at the map on the TV weather report and try to figure out which type of warning your location is in, because the weatherman is claiming that there are multiple colors on the map.
    4) You look at a diagram which shows where to connect each of the different colored wires, but all of your wires are one of only two colors.
    5) Etc.

WW2 Colour deficient people were used as spotters from planes because they can find edges easier then normal vision. From birth the eyes are lacking in the red green spectrum so the brain washes everything together. When you are not distracted by colour you learn to spot edges in a flat surface, just like the mushrooms. Then they mentioned how the distances changed, (ie depth perception). Being suddenly able to see colours they realize things are not as flat as they thought. Its quite fascinating to see because so many have the very same reaction. You will notice they dont use the word shades because they dont see much but grey or brown. The real proof that they worked is when they say "do you guys see this all the time" or "is this what you guys can see?") Ten percent of males are colour deficient but only one in two hundred females will have it. The females have a backup set of genes to fill in for any damaged or missing DNA and is also the reason why so many males like my son have Autism. Any videos of women trying these glasses is worth gold, they usually turn to mush get weak in the knees and cry like babies.

Why do people always ask the same ill considered questions. If you've only lived in the Sahara, it's silly to ask if you've ever missed snow. Then, when you change someone's objective reality, to ask them "what do you see" when they need to literally stop and spend the next twenty minutes processing and assimilating a significant paradigm change, is at best shortsighted.

sorry to say this. However, these glasses cannot make people who are color blind see what people with normal vision see. The glasses only make the colors they see more vibrant so they can see colors that were previously difficult for them to distinguish. like green and red. sorry for destroying your dreams.

Hey, let’s bring these guys who’ve never seen color to the middle of a town square surrounded by buildings with no nature around. 🙄 Whose idea was that?? If ya learn one thing from all these enchroma clips is that the most emotion colorblind people feel is when they see things in nature more. Trees, bushes, flowers, skyline. They barely had a reaction to them cuz of where u brought them. And ya add this music to make it seem more emotional.

    • @emilyjones1211
      @emilyjones1211 3 года назад

I am colourblind of red & green but I can see red, I think it depends on the tones & shades of a particular colour. For example, if I had lots of red colouring pencils in different shades and someone put a brown in with them I probably wouldn't be able to tell but again depending on the type of shade/tone. So I could still see that the building in this video was red but it may look duller than to someone who isn't colourblind. Hope that makes sense 😀
