FINALLY, a video where they're not shoving those damned balloons in their face. They gave him space, a little time, and totally respected his newfound ability with the respect he deserved. Great job, family!
True,. However I found myself slacked jawed when the mom said "We had them for awhile". That is something said when you gift a child with a PS4 or XBOX. not with something that could possibly change an aspect in ones life.
I Need The Krup Pretty sure the woman in the video was NOT his mom, based on what he says. And meeting in a parking lot, maybe he left his mom’s place to meet up with his dad. Divorced parents, sounds like. But a very, very cool handling of his new color vision. 😎
I was merely remarking on the statement that was made in the video. I was not going that deep to analyze why they were in a parking lot and assume that it was divorce meet up site. That would not even be a blip on my radar.
I 've watched dozens of these EnChroma videos, and I must commend these parents for allowing their son the private time to simply look at the world through his new eyes. Every other video I've seen has people demanding the glasses recipient to, "Look at this" and "Look at that" before the person seeing color for the first time in their lives has any time to adjust and simply soak in the beauty of color. Bravo to this mom and dad!
I couldn't agree with you more RBNightlinger. It's so annoying when they completely bombard them with questions about what color is this or that. These parents did it the right way.
Esp. annoying is when they ask "What color is this? What color is that?" This is the first time they have seen the colors. Give them a break. Kudos to these parents for letting Garrett have his time.
I must admit the moment this young man started crying I clutched my heart and I started crying, I got emotional. It made me realize the everyday things we take for granted. The ending was the prettiest thing ever, that sunset, man!!! I love this family.
I’ve watched this several times, and I cry each time! He seems like such a nice guy who is genuinely touched by this gift. Whatever he is doing in life, I hope he’s loving it. And his mom and dad are so kind, gentle and loving - beautiful family. Thanks for sharing this moment.
Yes, super sweet young man and awesome parents. Only thing that could have made it better was if they could have found a more bucolic place than a drug store parking lot for his first experience seeing colors.
I am overwhelmed by this young man's reaction and his obvious love for his father. Probably one of the best of these videos I have seen. I am very happy for him and his family.
i know this is so beside the point but yes, the love between the son and dad, so easily expressed and felt was beautiful to see. mine with mine was not that at all and it gives me joy to see it like this when it is truly shared.
This is beautiful! So thankfull to the person who invented these glasses so that those who are color blind can now see all the beautiful colors! These parents were great giving their son time to experience this and expresses himself. Wonderful!
I don't like comparing people to certain types of Hollywood contract employees (so-called "actors") but..Tom Cruise?? He looks nothing like him, he is twice as tall for starters. If anything, I'd say a young Keir Dullea.
I thought the same thing when I saw him, he does look like Cruise in Top Gun. He seems like a really nice guy. And am really happy for him... And glad his parents made him so happy. In a certain way I can understand how he felt...only in reverse. I recently had something happen to my eyesight out of now where. Was working on the computer. Had a flash I thought was the monitor. And suddenly noticed not only didn't things look in 3 dimensions anymore but flat like looking at a photograph. But I couldn't see bright color anymore. Everything turned dull. Which they just did an MRI on me, and the doctor is now sending me to a neurologist to try yo find out what happened. Never take your eyesight for granted. But I am very happy for this young guy to be able to see color's he didn't before... My Best wishes for you...
I ve watched quite a few of these now, it’s lovely to see how the parents gave him time and patience to let him absorb what he is seeing and the emotions he is feeling, it must be so overwhelming seeing our beautiful colourful world for the first time.
We are So Blessed, & then take it All for granted. What an admirable young man with a Great family that really Loves him. Heart-warming video, one of my favorites!
The best one of these I've ever watched. So nice not having a bunch of little kids running wild and asking 'What color is this'. This one just lets them take it in. Thanks.
This is one of my favorite videos. What is so great is you let him take it all in, didn't overpower his moment. Plus, the song is one of my all time favorite ones by Adam Levine. Thank you for sharing.
I have watched many of these videos of people experiencing colour for the first time, but what makes this one so special to me is that when Garrett sees what he is getting, he is so excited, then about 2 seconds later, it hits him that in a few more seconds, he will see the world as he has never seen before. Love these videos allowing the rest of the world to share in the joy. Thank you. :-)
I think watching him just stand & stare at the sunset says it all. We take too many things, which are free, for granted in our world. Congratulation to Garrettt & his family :-)
Garrett knew when he saw the box he was going to experience the world like he's never seen it --- and he certainly did! Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment for Garrett with us!
You can tell this boy has been raised well. What a fine young man. Kudos to his mom and dad for raising a son that is able to express utter joy in this manner and for letting him just take it all in on his own time. 👏🏻
WOW ! What a gift. I cried with Garrett at the joy on his face at seeing colour for the first time. I hope you enjoy the colour around you Garrett for the rest of your life.
just like Garrett is doing. We should all just stop and truly appreciate what Nature has to offer. When was the last time any of us took time and watched a sunset?
I look at that every single dawn... Sadly where I live is cover by buildings, roofs, but I try to see the changes colors on the sky at least. I love sky, clouds and colors... Even I cant watch when the sun gone. Its my favorite moment in the day. At night, I contemplaine the stars... Makes me feel humble.
I think this the best video I've seen so far I actually cried a lil when he broke down. That sunset was beautiful. I'm so happy for all of them who get to see the world as we do. 🤗❤
Your video made me cry. I can't wait to get my glasses. At age 45 I just found out that I am colourblind. In my video, I tried on a pair of glasses of another colourblind person. We both happen to work at Starbucks he works at a Starbucks just down the road from where I live. I saw purple for the first time. It was amazing. The biggest things I want to see are a sunrise and sunset. I have never seen the full beauty of either. I have never seen the full beauty of the fall colours North East Tennessee. Your video is very inspiring and happy.
I never had anyone correct me as an adult about certain colours. Honestly I don't usually talk much about the colours of things. It turns out that my family knew about my colourblindness as a child but never told me. Since my grandfather and father were colourblind, they didn't want me to go through the same teasing and hassle they did. My family was going to tell me when I got older, but life got in the way and they forgot. I didn't start to realise there was something wrong until a friend and I got into and argument of the colour of a Mary Kay car. It looked white to me and she was telling me it was pink. She accused me of being colourblind. I was actually kind of upset by that and went to my eye doctor and was tested. As it turns out, I am colourblind and I have Tritanopia.
I often wish I was told as a child instead of my family keeping from me. They had to go to great lengths to make sure my life was a normal as possible. My stepmother told me that I was indeed tested when I was 10, but my father didn't want me told until I got older because he didn't want me to feel like I was different and get ridiculed like he was. My grandmother told me that my father and grandfather both had tritanopia and my father was terribly ridiculed by his teachers and peers. Unfortunately I was never told because life got in the way. I am glad that I know now, but it has caused me to question all of my colour choices that I have made.
In 1937-8 or 9 I was tested at school I read random numbers out of a book to test me for colour blindness . How is it you don't do it in the states ???
What I disregard most the time is actually quite precious to this young handsome man! I was overwhelmed with his reaction, was so genuine! I was balling the entire video! Good job mom and dad :-) ❤
What I take for granted... I've been enjoying the most beautiful autumn colors, my favorite time of the year. What must it be like to never have seen the leaves change? The gift of color!!!! These videos make my heart sing, I'm so happy for everyone who receives these amazing glasses!!!!
The things that we take for granted. How awesome it must be for this young man. I can’t even imagine not seeing the wondrous colors that are a part of every day. Great gift!
What amazing parents. When I was a 16 year old girl I didn't feel like I could cry in front of my dad, to see a 16 year old boy crying and his dad hugging him in addition to the way you guys just let him experience it. Y'all are great
Great video! God bless Don McPherson for inventing those glasses. God bless Garrett! That's a young man who has a true appreciation for the beauty around him that we so often take for granted. I bet he will never forget that first sunset.
This young man is an amazing person.. Dude, I don't even know you but your beautiful attitude speaks volumes! Though you may have lived life not able to see the colors all around you, watching you see them for the first time truly warmed my heart 😊😊😊😊!!
You made a beautiful video that shares the fact the best things in life are taken for granted. Thank you and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to you! Make more videos please! Great way to start my day and to remember to be grateful for everything!
I have watched many and these videos of people reacting to their glasses once they put them on. I have to say this one is the most touching of them all the bond the father and son have is incredible none of the family is afraid to show any types of emotion what a lovely tight-knit family most refreshing to see
What a wonderful video-great parents and a handsome and sweet young man. It truly is great for us to be able to appreciate again the beauty of this world, what we take for granted, through the eyes of this lad. Garrett should come to Ireland to be literally engulfed by the forty shades of green we have here.
I love it when they get emotional just by seeing the box, you know he is truly thankful for this gift. Watching this while coloring makes me thankful just for the small things that most of us take for granted.
I am not crying. No I am not. Ok, I am. This is a wonderful invention and thank you for posting this video!! Such a deal at about $350 for adults and about $270 for kids. Just about the same price that I pay for my regular bifocals! I imagine he will pace himself with the glasses as he gets his composure and gets used to seeing color. Beautiful video!
The last shot, where he gets to watch the colors in the sky before and after the sun sets.. they change over time - and he just wanted to soak it all in. i have lived near the Pacific Ocean and gone to the beach and watched the colors in the sky as the sun set over the ocean.. and it always moves me - and i'm not color blind. i can't begin to imagine how awesome this experience was for Garrett. :)
I wish that someone would do a split screen showing what he normally sees and the difference with the glasses it would really give the rest of us the appreciation of the changes and the emotional reactions
I didn't know this, but a customer where I work, who knows that I'm colourblind, told me of a setting in iOS that corrects the colours for colourblindness. It is under Settings, General, Accessibility, Display Accommodations, Colour Filters. I went in and set mine for Tritanopia and it immediately saturated the colours in a way that allows my eyes to see it as normal. There were icons on my phone that I couldn't see before. It makes my phone look funny to other people, but at least I can see it.
Finally a video the then don't bombard the person with "what do you see???" "You see color???" his dad was amazing at telling him to have his time to absorb all his new emotions.
“ What Awesome Parents this young man has, to care enough, to make sure that he sees life, like most of us do, and many take for granted. Just the emotion he showed when seeing the label on the box of glasses “ made my day” . God Bless You, young man.
OMG I love these videos, especially this one, it's done very well. I take so much for granted and then I see something like this and I realize just what a wonderful world we live in. Thank you, enjoy Garrett, there's more to come.
I love this video best if all I've seen so far. Yes, I'm crying. The only change is instead of saying the end, how about "the new beginning". What a beautiful family.
I can’t stop crying... such an unselfish, parental loving gift of COLOR! We parents will do anything to help our kids until our last breath. I kept thinking, you might have considered having him see first in a florist shop! After calmed down from the sensory overload, then take him outside to the winter gloom or brown grass, stick trees, and the glory of how beautiful the work of masons is. No judging mom and dad... you way was the right way from your heart. God bless each of you! I can not imagine not seeing color. Though it is what it is when we are born! Hugs from KY

Yeah. well said. I was thinking the same.
Finally, a video where they don't have little-four-year olds being annoying.

RBNightlinger I totally agree. I have been binge watching these videos and have thought the same thing!
Exactly. In the other vids, I'm mouthfckers let em take it all in first!
I just commented on the same thing in another video.. always a woman telling the men do this do that.. idiots
Esp. annoying is when they ask "What color is this? What color is that?" This is the first time they have seen the colors. Give them a break. Kudos to these parents for letting Garrett have his time.
Great job, mom and dad. You two clearly raised an outstanding young man. God bless you.

For sure, man. Agreed 100%
@Hungry Sands I dig. IQ a wretched 70. Alrighty then.
Geez I cried, especially at the end. The things we take for granted....the beauty of a sunset...
I can't imagine what it'd be like to see the beauty of a sunset for the first time. Made me tear up a bit too.
Me too. What a sweetheart that young man is.
There's a old video about a soldier watching sunset with the glasses for the first time... Very emotional.
jrsinger78 and all the good Dad Hugs.

Exactly very touching / beautiful family
agree...something very winning re: the way his parents interacted with him.
Yes, super sweet young man and awesome parents. Only thing that could have made it better was if they could have found a more bucolic place than a drug store parking lot for his first experience seeing colors.
Everyone deserves to see colour

I lost it,...beautiful. We take so much for granted.

It's a rare thing to see a father like yours. There are few left in this world. You never needed Heroes because one raised you!
This is beautiful! So thankfull to the person who invented these glasses so that those who are color blind can now see all the beautiful colors!
These parents were great giving their son time to experience this and expresses himself. Wonderful!
1. Absolutely amazing. I cannot imagine what that was like. Welcome to the rainbow.
2. Kid looks like Tom Cruise in Top Gun.

I loved how he just saw the box and started crying. He probably knows how expensive they are and how great an effort his family had to do to buy them.
They are absurdly cheap
Oh the joy of his first real sunset.....how magical and yes....well done Mum and Dad for giving him privacy :)
First sunset must be a revelation. The rest of us pass them by without enjoying them because we can see another one later.
We are So Blessed, & then take it

watched it again and I cry every time. wish we could have an update, what a wonderful family God bless them.
Well I lasted a whole 27 seconds before I got teary! FANTASTIC job mum and dad, what a lovely young man you have for a son!
Thanks for sharing his joy with all of us! We can feel his joy too!
What a sweet young man.
Break out the Kleenex. Poor dude lived his whole life in Kansas and just stepped into the land of Oz...
@Roosje Keizer But seriously. What WAS your point?
Oh hell naw....lololol
I would hardly call the parking lot at RiteAid OZ . I would have picked a more colorful location personally
Hahaha what a brilliant analogy. That’s EXACTLY what’s happened! For those too young to understand that, the beginning of the film is void of color.
Exactly like that!!!! 🧡💜
wow..he was overwhelmed with emotion once he read the box and knew what was waiting for him.
Tony I agree. I think his knees actually got weak❣️ I don’t blame him...purple is pretty miraculous 💜

Finally a video the then don't bombard the person with "what do you see???" "You see color???" his dad was amazing at telling him to have his time to absorb all his new emotions.
What a well put together video. Great choice of song. What a wonderful world!
I never knew how important seeing colour was until all these reaction videos.... It's incredible
I tried to imagine a new color when I was 15 for a school biology assignment & couldn't. Almost envy people like him.
What a grateful young man he is.
Crying my eyes out here. So happy for the young man
Like a deaf person hearing for the first time. Your mind hasn't learned yet how to cope and is overwhelmed.
O this just made me cry soooooo much. My son is completely blind.... and I pray for sight. He's 16... and so clever. Be blessed young man. Enjoy .
A beautiful thing to behold. Thank you for sharing.
My dad was color blind. Wish he was here to have those. This was really sweet.

Beautiful. I can't imagine how amazing this was for this young man.
I envy him for being able to remember seeing his first sunset, must be a wonderful feeling :-)
Moved me to absolute tears. Watching this young mans reaction was priceless. Thank you for sharing this amazing miracle with us all.
I love this video best if all I've seen so far. Yes, I'm crying. The only change is instead of saying the end, how about "the new beginning". What a beautiful family.
Very touching. What a nice family.
My heart can't take these videos. OMG. I'm crying so hard.
How can anyone click the dislike button for this video? It’s wonderful.
What a special moment. You are a great young man!
The 'little' things we take for granted. Wonderful for him!!
God bless his heart ... changing a young life for the better is a beautiful thing!
✨🙌✨
I can’t stop crying... such an unselfish, parental loving gift of COLOR! We parents will do anything to help our kids until our last breath. I kept thinking, you might have considered having him see first in a florist shop! After calmed down from the sensory overload, then take him outside to the winter gloom or brown grass, stick trees, and the glory of how beautiful the work of masons is. No judging mom and dad... you way was the right way from your heart. God bless each of you! I can not imagine not seeing color. Though it is what it is when we are born! Hugs from KY
Amazing! I'm so happy for him! God bless u and ur family
Unless you’re colour blind you can never truly understand how overwhelming it is to suddenly see things that you’ve never seen before.
