True! If I understand correctly, you own it forever as long as assets are in your "purchased" list, so what ever you have downloaded will have license to use for free forever!
@MarisFreimanis but you'll only have access to download as long as Bridge is active. Once they shut down Quixel you won't be able to redownload on Fab and will be stuck with only what you have locally stored
Hey @UnrealSensei, yea their wording once again is confusing. In email they mention "Any Megascans content that you got for free via Unreal Engine can be downloaded anew from Fab.", from this it looked like, if you have assets, they will be available also in fab. But no mention about any king of licensing, so possibly will need to claim everything again in fab. By the way, 100% agree that it will make it harder to turn anyone new to UE and it makes content creator life also way more harder since we rely on assets that are available to anyone.
@@MarisFreimanis yes for us who are using now. Im wondering how will this affect on general use of UE, people did complain about unity what did do and now it came time for UE, time will tell!!
@@markecgazda3880 for current users it will be great, since you will be able to use megascans in any engine you want after you claim them. For future users, well assets are priced reasonably I think
I think it’s reasonable change especially if they put in tiered pricing making it indie friendly. Creating these assets takes a lot of work. I do hope that they create new tools that make it easier to use these assets for example better layout maybe via PCG or even Houdini Engine or both
If your paycheck is in dollars, you are always good. The problem is for people in other countries where the dollar is five times more… So what costs 1 dollar for you costs 5 dollars to others. I don’t think this is fair… In Brazil for example 1 usd is 5.43 reais.
@@ricr8987 I feel you, I'm originally from Latvia and I know how unfair pricing is in countries with different income levels. $100 in US is fair for good asset pack, but in EU, Brazil or any other place where income levels are lower - it's expensive. That's problem that hopefully one day will be fixed, and there will be ways to not exploit system if they do country price adjustments.
You mean ones they gave for free and you claim? No they stay free. Only thing we don't know what will be new licensing from them and what includes "FAB standard licensing". Looks like in Fab they will have different licensing tiers, assume like standard, enterprise etc.
Need to blame kids for not buying enough Fortnite skins lol. Just joking. Actually at this point I'm not sure, but I know that it's hard to get new people to use UE because of huge learning curve. If now we will have prototyping / learning asset issue, then will be hard to make Beginner content for sure.

True! If I understand correctly, you own it forever as long as assets are in your "purchased" list, so what ever you have downloaded will have license to use for free forever!

I do not think getting the assets on Bridge will keep them forever you have to wait for Fab to release and do it on Fab.

If I can't customize the metahuman why would I EVER pay for that?
It's apples and oranges. Megascans are not same as MH. But we will see in future if this will affect them in any way.

Yea I grab all assets but until Fab is released we don't even know if licensing for that will carry over to fab. Such a mess.
