This is just so raw and honestly just so easy to listen to. I miss them so much. Brand new holds a special place in my heart forever. Through the dark times and to now. Jesse is such a great song writer.
weird black south african, i'm a weird white south african and you just gave me hope. saw them live at oppikoppi last year, and they are fucking perfect.
. I’ll never forget I was pregnant with my daughter 16 years ago and listening to this album in my car. Tears streamed of happiness. Then still pregnant I saw them live and it was the most euphoric concert I’ve ever witnessed.
I agree. After everything that’s come out about Jesse I still think they are the best band of our generation and lowkey of all time the way they make me feel 😅 I’ve never been so moved by a band like them before
I remember walking through the rain from work late at night, during a bad time in my life, and listening to this song. I got very emotional as i had just enough and started singing it out load with my headphones on.
when im pissed off and driving i will play this as loud as possible and scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs. Best stress release song in the world.
The whole album is perfection. The balance between the tranquil portion and the loud portion is the best. This album helps me sleep, just turn it on and I'm out.
We love you Band New always and forever. Was a young 12-13yr old when I first heard you and at the same time you were coming up. Magical memories of my childhood to have that intersection with y’all. ❤
Dude, a buddy of mine is at least fifteen years older than me and he told me he loves Taking Back Sunday. I have been without internet for a week and I am just texting him Hawthorne Heights, Thursday, and now Brand New while jamming. I remember listening to this song on video at my grandparents’ house in high school and it feels like it did then. Class of 2004! I’m 38 as of March.
So much emotion, Brand New has helped me through so much, I often get bummed that I'll never see them live, I hear they used to put on amazing shows, some of the best, despite everything I hope someday there would be a reunion, I'd give anything to see them, I love these guys to death
It may still happen, you never know. I used to feel the same way about Nirvana; but that was terminal. I only saw them live once, and it was great. Only show I attended during the height of a heroin addiction. They performed Deja Entendu in its entirety, in 2015, and played this during the encore.
Do you miss the blend of colors she left in your black and white field? Do you feel condemned just being there? I am not your friend. I’m just a man who knows how it feels. I am not your friend. I'm not your lover. I'm not your family.... yeah. Yeah.
brand new! greatest band ever! ive been listening for at least 15 years. take a break sometimes but always fall back in love with their music when i put it back on.
I came across this song a few years ago, very short time before our family cat died. Yeah I know, people say "uh it's just a cat", but he was my closest fellow, like a brother, we grew up together. And then when he died I couldn't feel a damn thing. I couldn't shed a single tear. Bein sad when someone dies is a really bad thing, but I'd say feeling nothing at all is worse. The original cover art makes me feel unsettled, it all makes me think of warm summers and wheat fields, I don't know. It puts me in a very odd mood everytime. A feeling of sadness so deep that I'm unabled to feel anything at all.
Jesse nailed it. One of Brand New's enduring principles as artists, collectively, was to never allow moss to grow beneath the band's sound and artistic range. To the end, BN remained true.
sowing season is one of my favorite songs. i'll be 16 this upcoming august, and my 24 and 28 year old brothers love brand new so i've heard them here and there but only recently did i start listening to them. amazing band honestly.
I just wanna put this out there... You can be a fan of something someone created while not supporting who they are and the things they have done. These songs are important to a ton of people, and that can never be taken away. I miss this band so much and it kills me that so many people can't separate the art from the artist.
I've never came across a Brand New album I didn't fall in love with. Been a loyal fan since 2001. Still can't get enough of the group. VERY TALENTED. Thanks for the beautiful work. ♥
“Is it in you now to watch the things you gave your life to broken? Stoop and build them up with worn out tools.” So many years of my life right there.
You sir! Saved my life. For that I can never say thank enough. You have been my music for as long as you have been brand new! An to this day your still brand new! Much love to you an your band! An for the years of amazing music!
You will probably never read this, but your comeback would be unimaginable. I've listened to all your tracks and am in need of more lol. Your help would be appreciated:)
I really dont think jessey lacey knows what he has done to this world he has done the most amazing thing ever it literally just is so perfect and he always seems so in peace with himself im only 16 but i stil know that he loves what he does even though he has changed ive gotten used to it and it turned out so beautiful thank you jessey ur amazing
This is one of my favorite albums. I pop it in and just let it play. Man, Talent! It's just oozing out of these guys. I'm talkin' quality music: lyrics, instruments.
Been listening to them since about 2005. Every time I come back to listen I find more to appreciate. This version, this song, just wow...hit's right in the feels. I still love how every album and every song has a different feel to it. Such a talented band and so much to appreciate in today's wasteland that is so lacking in decent music.
Was losing all my friends. Was losing them to drinking and to driving. Was losing all my friends, but I got them back. I am on the mend. At least now I can say that I am trying. And I hope you will forget things I still lack. Yeah. Yeah. Is it in you now, To barely hear the truth that you have spoken? Twisted up by knaves, To make a trap for fools. Is it in you now, To watch the things you gave your life to broken? And stoop and build them up with warn out tools. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. (Oh.) Yeah. Nothing gets so bad, A whisper from your father couldn't fix it. Your whisper's like a bridge, he's a river span. Take all that you have, And turn it into something you were missing. Somebody threw that brick, shattered all your plans. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. (Oh.) Yeah. Time to get the seeds into the cold ground. It takes a while to grow anything, Before it's coming to the end, yeah. Before you put my body in the cold ground, Take some time to warm it with your hand, Before it's coming to an end, yeah. For all of you that complain about Vevo and having to watch ads: ads are what make RUclips free. it takes a large sum of money to run this website and ads are what pay for a decent part of that. This is a great service and its free. so quit complaining and just be patient for 30 seconds.
He may not have the greatest voice ever, but few others can sing with the same emotion as he does. That's what makes him so great, and that's why so many people like him.
I seriously love these guys. The inserts of the interview honestly makes it so much better. There's something special about being close with certain music... but there's truly nothing like the feeling of being exceptionally more personal with the band/people who actually created the music.
Words cannot describe the love I have for this band...I have been following them since "Your Favorite Weapon" and feel I have grown with them over the years as they themselves have grown literally and through their music. Most underrated band of our generation if you ask me!
This is the one band, that no matter what mood I'm in, I could listen to. I was introduced to them in '07 and to this day, I don't think there has been a day that went by that I have gone through without listening to at least one song by them. Because they dont put themselves out there like everyone else. They are actually extremely popular! Concerts always sell out! They dont make mainstream music they make GOOD music!
I completely agree, but I guess that's makes it so much better for us. The ones who actually care about the music, and not the ones who pose for some sort fashion statement, or pre-teens that are lashing out on their parents.
They actually tend to play venues with capacities closer to 2 or 3 thousand, often selling them out. And that's in the states. In Canada and certain parts of Europe they can go even bigger than that. The fact that they recently headlined Bamboozle alongside Bon Jovi, Skrillex, and blink-182 should say something. When they play 400-person venues, it's typically just a one-off for the fans, not because they couldn't book a larger one. That said, I think they should be even huger. Amazing band. :)
I hope the guys know how much support there still is for them all out here. We understand.. but we miss you too.
Ones a paedo
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave Acoustic” or “Live Not Survive” by SLT 🤘🎧
This is just so raw and honestly just so easy to listen to. I miss them so much. Brand new holds a special place in my heart forever. Through the dark times and to now. Jesse is such a great song writer.

This song.... the moment it starts playing I feel like I'm going to cry. This whole album is so intense. Means so much. Every subtle tone and word.
I need a music buddy to show me songs and let me show them songs😂I get the same feeling from this song
You sexy af ma what's your IG?
it is crazy how much brand new "means" to me. whatever that means..

. I’ll never forget I was pregnant with my daughter 16 years ago and listening to this album in my car. Tears streamed of happiness. Then still pregnant I saw them live and it was the most euphoric concert I’ve ever witnessed.
I still come back and listen to this version all the time. No band has ever made me feel as much brand new has. They will always be my fav
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “Live not Survive” by SLT 🐺🤘🎸

Hahaha I do this too after work at night. Such a great feeling. People in the other cars just see some nut case screaming "YEAAAHH!"
haha but it helps! it feels so good just to let go and have your emotions take over to this song
Jeffacake hahaha omg with an elbow drop
Jeffacake thats pretty emo bro, I can tell you have a lot of feels.
I still come here after 14 years
Acoustic sessions exist to make people cry.
Lmaoo 🤣🤣😭😭 Acoustic Is The Best 💜
The whole album is perfection. The balance between the tranquil portion and the loud portion is the best. This album helps me sleep, just turn it on and I'm out.
Madeline Young Even when you get to that *part* of 'Luca'?

Terrible
Me 34, almost 35 got someone whose 53 into brand new on a whim and damn have we jammed this into the ground over the last 18 months 😊
I’m 38 as of March.
once a friend of mine asked "what's that one brand new song that's really quiet and then gets really loud"
he doesn't understand
he could also be talking about Luca!!
Pretty much every song they have gets loud at some point
I'm about 99% they were talking about Luca haha
I can probably name 10 brand new songs like that of the top off my head
I guarantee he was asking about Luca.
the world lacks these kind of people
So much emotion, Brand New has helped me through so much, I often get bummed that I'll never see them live, I hear they used to put on amazing shows, some of the best, despite everything I hope someday there would be a reunion, I'd give anything to see them, I love these guys to death

+Timothy Kirk At least 15? So you were there before their first album came out?
+18190sparks Your Favorite Weapon came out 15 years ago. So... 15 years makes sense.
Your Favorite Weapon came out 15 years ago...why the douchey comment, do you not believe that Brand New had fans when they first started?
I came across this song a few years ago, very short time before our family cat died. Yeah I know, people say "uh it's just a cat", but he was my closest fellow, like a brother, we grew up together. My cat died last month. Didn't expect to feel the loss so badly
👌
Yes. I feel you brother.
greatest band ever to me. yall are a huge part of the reason I'm still alive still searching for passion and meaning.
Jesse nailed it. One of Brand New's enduring principles as artists, collectively, was to never allow moss to grow beneath the band's sound and artistic range. To the end, BN remained true.
That was so spot on.

You are correct. One of the greatest bands in the history of bands
sowing season is one of my favorite songs. i'll be 16 this upcoming august, and my 24 and 28 year old brothers love brand new so i've heard them here and there but only recently did i start listening to them. amazing band honestly.
Happy birthday month!
You’re 19 now brother, what did you think of Science Fiction?
You were listening at this song around the same age I was listement to this when it was release. Same time but different times
I was listening to it 2 years prior to you my boy at the same age, we getting old now. Long ways from 15.
i like the progression of jesse as a vocalist. his voice has improved every single album.
i wish i'd get to experience them live in NEW ZEALAND
I just wanna put this out there...
You can be a fan of something someone created while not supporting who they are and the things they have done. These songs are important to a ton of people, and that can never be taken away. I miss this band so much and it kills me that so many people can't separate the art from the artist.

Jesse and Buddy Nielsen are my two favourite lyricists ever

I personally feel like I have grown with this band. I've been listening for 7+ years and they just continue to impress me.
“Is it in you now to watch the things you gave your life to broken? Stoop and build them up with worn out tools.” So many years of my life right there.

I guess I’m glad that Jesse had that huge fight with the members of Taking Back Sunday because then we got two great bands instead of just one.
The passion in this is vibrant and beautiful I love these guys so much
Seems like Jesse had issues but i'll always be a fan of this album. It's gotten me through some dark times.
I agree 100% and always will continue to get us through tough times
ruclips.net/video/MOwJTURljRk/видео.html

JESSE IS MUSICAL GENIUS. FLAT OUT.LYRICAL AND MUSICAL GENIUS. unbelievable.
I listen to this song whenever I over think . It never fails to put me at ease

Possibly one of the best albums of the last ten years. Just beautiful.
He's the only person alive that I've never met and i'm still in love with
" I hope you will forget, the things I still lack"
So glad Jesse never stuck with TBS and did his own thing.
This right here is down right the best version of this song
ruclips.net/video/MOwJTURljRk/видео.html

This really is good for your Soul. The peace this song brings. 👌🤙

Was losing all my friends.
Was losing them to drinking and to driving.
Was losing all my friends, but I got them back.
I am on the mend.
At least now I can say that I am trying.
And I hope you will forget things I still lack.
Yeah. Yeah.
Is it in you now,
To barely hear the truth that you have spoken?
Twisted up by knaves,
To make a trap for fools.
Is it in you now,
To watch the things you gave your life to broken?
And stoop and build them up with warn out tools.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. (Oh.)
Yeah.
Nothing gets so bad,
A whisper from your father couldn't fix it.
Your whisper's like a bridge, he's a river span.
Take all that you have,
And turn it into something you were missing.
Somebody threw that brick, shattered all your plans.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. (Oh.)
Yeah.
Time to get the seeds into the cold ground.
It takes a while to grow anything,
Before it's coming to the end, yeah.
Before you put my body in the cold ground,
Take some time to warm it with your hand,
Before it's coming to an end, yeah.
It's coming to an end, yeah.
It's coming to an end, yeah.
Do you miss the blend,
Colors she left in your black and white field?
Do you feel condemned just being there?
I am not your friend.
I am just a man who knows how to feel.
I am not your friend.
I'm not your lover.
I'm not your family.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. (Oh.)
Yeah.
Time to get the seeds into the cold ground.

I love the way he sings this version. The tone of his voice is beautiful.
I love how you can really see the pain in his eyes... Like he feels every word that leaves his lips. It's beautiful
I remember how I felt the first time I heard this.
I remember it because I feel that every time I hear it.
ruclips.net/video/MOwJTURljRk/видео.html
Gotta hear this :)
It's been 12 years and I still listen to every album. Thanks.
brand new will always have a place in my heart!!
its the way this and the original recording of the song are two different songs i cant explain it
Brand New in a major key? This is awesome.
So glad I came across this song during my guitar hero days. Still a gem
ruclips.net/video/MOwJTURljRk/видео.html
Gotta hear this :)
lmao same
"Our music didn't save you're live, we were just the backround music" -Jesse Lacey
please please please new album, even though i can still listen to the old ones a million times over!
He may not have the greatest voice ever, but few others can sing with the same emotion as he does. That's what makes him so great, and that's why so many people like him.
Best version of this song. It's so clean. :)
That gave me all sorts of feels
dude that voice and those emotions...

I am so beyond in love with Jesse Lacey. I absolutely love him and all his music. He's a genius. And my hero.
Year after year since this album came out i've been coming back to this tune, still quality - even more relevant.
theres no better song writer than Jesse Lacey. the only CD in the world i can say i know every word by heart. Deja Entendu. beautiful song too.
I love how he changes the lyrics from "but I got 'em back" to "didn't want 'em back" in the first verse.
This song, them lyrics, his voice
I love you forever Jesse. Still hoping one day brand new will come back. Or even a solo project. Fuck.
ruclips.net/video/MOwJTURljRk/видео.html
Gotta hear this :) :)
i was blessed to see these guys perform twice and TBS once, I will always love them and be able to listen to them anytime!
Words cannot describe the love I have for this band...I have been following them since "Your Favorite Weapon" and feel I have grown with them over the years as they themselves have grown literally and through their music. Most underrated band of our generation if you ask me!
They should make an album with all these sessions. they sound so authentic to me
This is part of the Daisy Sessions, which is this song, Bought a Bride, Jesus, At The Bottom, and Bed reprised.
Brand New is a perfect band. Not fucking kidding. Coming from a huge metal fan, Brand New is my favorite band outside of metal. They're so good!!!
This is the one band, that no matter what mood I'm in, I could listen to. I was introduced to them in '07 and to this day, I don't think there has been a day that went by that I have gone through without listening to at least one song by them. This band has kept me sane all throughout these years and I can't thank them enough for it.
PS, I would absolutely LOVE it if they made a version of Luca in this manner.
Oh, the bridge, just think about how marvelous it would be.
This band is one of the best things I ever discovered, I just love them.
I've waited 7 years to see these guys live, and in september, I finally get to. I'm so going to piddle myself
The most under-rated band in years
Because they dont put themselves out there like everyone else. They are actually extremely popular! Concerts always sell out! They dont make mainstream music they make GOOD music!
We read "If" by Rudyard Kipling in my english class today. I was falling asleep until I heard "Twisted up by knaves, to make a trap for fools."
I completely agree, but I guess that's makes it so much better for us. The ones who actually care about the music, and not the ones who pose for some sort fashion statement, or pre-teens that are lashing out on their parents.
This is the best version
left in tears and a pool of inspiration.
this feels honest. I dig honest.
says a lot about today's music. At least what's popular ya?
Well said.
Most honest and engaging song writing, simply amazing
Whole album is fire but this songggg thoooo.!!!

what I love about this band is the extensive use of reverb, just sounds incredible
so, this is absolutely perfect.
