Jesse writes most of his songs acoustically. When you strip everything else away, it's just a desperately creative, channeling his emotions like a man on the brink of collapse.

Goodbye to sleep I think that staying up is exactly what I need Take apart your head Take apart the counting, And the flock it has bred. Goodbye to love, Its right, I'll push you up, Right against the wall Take apart your head (right against the wall) Chew it up and swallow it But I'll bet that you're running I've been sleeping in the alkaline I can't shake this little feeling I'll never get anything right Goodbye, you liar Well, you sipped from the cup But you don't own up to anything Then you think you will inspire Take apart your head (I wish I could inspire) Take apart the demon, in the attic, to the bed. But I'll bet that you're running (Goodbye my love) I've been sleeping in the alkaline (Goodbye my love) I can't shake this little feeling (Goodbye my love) I never say anything right (I'm on my own) I never say anything right (I'm on my own) I never say anything right (I'm on my own) I never say anything right, right, right (I'm on my own) Take me, take me, back to your bed I love you so much that it hurts my head I don't mind you running through my skin Oh, let the bad parts in, the bad parts in When we were made, we were set apart Life is a test and I get bad marks Now some Saint got the job, Of writing down my sins The storm is coming; The storm is coming in! But I'll bet that you're running I've been sleeping in the alkaline I can't shake this little feeling I never did anything right (I'm on my own) I never did anything right (I'm on my own)
When I was a kid I remember my older brother telling me that he heard somewhere that Brand New would just get high and listen to Bright Eyes a lot before writing some of their earlier stuff. So that’s always been a part of my head canon. Especially since getting high and listening to bright eyes is something I’ve done once or twice myself
His little sick voice could not have been more perfect for this.
I love this version so much I can't believe I just found it. There is so much raw emotion. And when Jesse's voice shakes it's so emotional
dorothy.13 do you love it so much that it hurts your head?
Wow.. I just found this.. after all these years..

I kept clearing my throat while listening to this lol
This is the first time I'm hearing this. Wow.

This is probably the greatest thing I've ever heard. Better than the original
Ashy Larry i know right?
Such an amazing song. I've been a little obsessed with it lately.
me too :) my workmates get sick of hearing it.
Lol that's awesome. I tend to do that a lot too, put songs on repeat and listen to them like crazy. If I had neighbors they'd probably hate my guts.
I won't stop listening to it
God, Brand New is so perfect.
I listen to this song multiple times in a row just to get the goose bumps.
I'm seeing them on July 10th. Words can't explain my excitement.
That's awesome! :D

What are you talking about? It's so nondescript & open-ended. I'm confused. Please elaborate.

oh gawd...
fucking love it.
Goodbye to sleep
I think that staying up is exactly what I need
Take apart your head
Take apart the counting,
And the flock it has bred.
Goodbye to love,
Its right, I'll push you up,
Right against the wall
Take apart your head (right against the wall)
Chew it up and swallow it
But I'll bet that you're running
I've been sleeping in the alkaline
I can't shake this little feeling
I'll never get anything right
Goodbye, you liar
Well, you sipped from the cup
But you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head (I wish I could inspire)
Take apart the demon, in the attic, to the bed.
But I'll bet that you're running
(Goodbye my love)
I've been sleeping in the alkaline
(Goodbye my love)
I can't shake this little feeling
(Goodbye my love)
I never say anything right (I'm on my own)
I never say anything right (I'm on my own)
I never say anything right (I'm on my own)
I never say anything right, right, right (I'm on my own)
Take me, take me, back to your bed
I love you so much that it hurts my head
I don't mind you running through my skin
Oh, let the bad parts in, the bad parts in
When we were made, we were set apart
Life is a test and I get bad marks
Now some Saint got the job,
Of writing down my sins
The storm is coming;
The storm is coming in!
But I'll bet that you're running
I've been sleeping in the alkaline
I can't shake this little feeling
I never did anything right (I'm on my own)
I never did anything right (I'm on my own)
not right >:(
R.E. K. Sorry I posted this 2 years ago and he sings it differently to the original version.
Thank youuu! This is really helpful for someone with audio processing difficulties. ^_^
@@saori8328 youre welcome happy to know my 3 year old comment helped you :)
Prefer the original but god damn this is amazing
sounds the tiniest bit like conor oberst

anyone got the lyrics to this? seems like he altered the lyrics a bit?!
seasonrock he said in a video that there are no set lyrics to this song/chorus :) I'll link it to you if you'd want me to!
Gabrielle Pavkovich yes pls if u have it:)
does anyone know the chords he using for the acoustic version?
Mostly Em and D. Throws in the occasional C and Bm.
hi
I love Jesse, but god, he just sounds weak at some parts. Guitar is great though.
appleswithsauce it could be because he's sick
