it’s really cool to see your perspective on these jumps and tommy hyunhs. cool to see u two get a lap in together too, hope to see more of that! im still focusing on getting faster at miracle mile and blue steel before i try party wave westridge
Love your videos man. I wish i had the nerve to hit jumps like that . Been riding hardtails for years and recently got an intense 275 fs. Absolutely love it . I have no issue hitting smaller jumps but this almost 50yo has reservations of sending it too far lol. Nice riding👍
Thanks! Sounds like you're having a rad time. FWIW, I started riding in my late 40s and am 51 now. I have been working on jumps for several years. I started with small jumps and have had a lot of coaching along the way.
Yeah! Get it Alan 🤘🏻 Always good to see the trail preview videos back. I finally cleared the big 4 last weekend and was pretty stoked, were pretty intimidating at first on opening day weekend though ngl…. Was doing the same thing on brake checking myself too much and loosing speed on the middle two tables. Easily my favorite jumps up there now, that paver berm is so much fun.
Man, I was there on one of those days. Was in line with you multiple times. Was my first ever trip to any kind of bike park. I was pretty stoked about being there and also that you were there. Dude, I ate a huge crash on that Westridge tombstone. This video was cool for me to see your sort of progression through the line.
Is the big big tombstone gnarly? I've hit the muscle beach tombstone just fine and cleared all the other new jumps. Closing weekend is real soon and I wanna hit it so bad 😂
That trail officially went outside my skill level this year. kinda narrowing down the trails for us intermediate riders. Heard from staff two dudes already got killed on it. Be careful, the stuff is alot bigger this year!
Be careful with the rumors. I don't know about the second person you're talking about, but I know a person who was in the group with the guy who dies opening weekend. He told me that the guy crashed on Muscle Beach.
Ya, one guy opening weekend and another fathers day weekend. I think riders who were used to the old Party Wave weren't expecting it to be so big this year. I see most folks casing these big jumps. I've been riding summit since 2015, but I know my place and I'll stay off that trail and leave it to the more experienced riders like yourself. The old Party Wave I had no issue clearing everything, this new version, hard pass haha
@@Superhonda-z50 Agreed, tbh. The tombstone looks like you gotta bomb in super hot to not case it, and then needing to go into the concrete paver turn brake free while potentially needing a pedal to clear the step up is pretty intense. Props to you, Alan, for progressing so much that day. As an intermediate jump rider, I wish there was a more crank it up style run at summit. Just got back from Whistler myself and progressed safely quite a bit thanks to crank it up. Summit just looks like the consequences are disproportionately high for riders who aren't already ready for that level of terrain.
I went there for the first time today and the bridge jump isn’t that hard you just need to gap the wood on the drop and you’ll know you have enough speed for it, and miracle mile is so gnarly, I hit it a few times and the last ride of the day I chose to ride it and I put a dent in my rim,
@@mtb_alan haha... the 'stashe was rad - quintessential MTB Alan. wondering what would cause you to get rid of it. just thinkin... maybe a really good woman would have that sort of influence. (or i guess maybe you just got sick of it) 😂 I'm just getting over the shock... I'll be ok. 'stashe or not, still watching the content. 👊🤘
🤘🏾😆 TBH, I ended up with the stache partly because my partner couldn’t deal with a regular mustache and I also wanted a goofy driver’s license pic. My renewal was due. So I cut the iconic stache and went to the DMV. My partner didn’t find it too offensive so it stayed. And as the channel grew, it became a thing. Why did I shave it? Because I wanted too. And now, years later, the regular mustache is no longer an issue. 😆
This is great for all those out there with nerves about trying out these new jump sections.
I hope it helps! Let's hit them some more!
Nice riding. And great save to you and Heather. I've been half that tilted in the air and washed out before. Shows some real skills.
Thanks! The wind really had it out for us.
Sick!
Yew!
What a great perspective. Dig it
I went out last weekend to snow summit. I’m from az and my son and I watch some of your videos on our ride up there. Great videos
Sweet!
Nicely done!
Thanks!
I am also working up to hitting the big jumps again! Thanks for keeping it real and showing the progression! 🤙🤙
No worries! You got it. Just do what works for your and don't pressure yourself! 🤘🏾

Thanks! Glad to help.
Oh dang! you gotta make it happen next time.
Excellent riding and great judgment so good seeing the confidence build
Thanks! It feels pretty rad!
Bro, Alan knows how to MTB!
🤘🏾 I'm learning.

🤘🏾 Not gnarly. Throws smooth.
You're getting really good 😮🙌
I'm working on it!
what's wrong with getting blown on the tombstone?
It's unsightly. 😆

ALAN!!! the stache?!?! did this decision have anything to do with a female? 🤔
Please explain.
