I was at this show - it was my third weekend at college. We drove 300 miles each way, and crashed at a friend of a friend's place for the weekend. I think it was 400,000-450,000 people. It was free.

I never knew that there were that many people in the crowd nor knowing it was free to all folk. I went to see Elton at Hanging Rock on Australia day this year for his farewell with up to 20,000 people but that's no where near this crowd. Damn. Learn something everyday and today, you're my teacher. Lol.
      Amazing crowd 400,000 - 450,000!!!!!!!

Yes, the biggest crowd ever for a concert in Central Park!
He was in the middle of his farewell world tour when the pandemic hit. According to billboard his tour was the top grossing tour in the world in 2019.

I've been blessed to have attended one of his concerts, in a much smaller setting (23,000 seat basketball arena at BYU).
I've been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime: Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz.
Hell..I've even seen Inner Circle in Hawaii once (you know: Bad Boys Bad Boys. Whatcha gonna do?).
But one concert sticks out in my memory as being the most entertaining...and that was Elton John.
EVERYBODY knew the music and the words. It was a really FUN experience! Elton John delivered the best concert I've ever "been a part of".
    Truth.

Elton is one of the best. His music career spans decades and he’s not stopping. Not only He is an entertainer through and through, but an amazing entrepreneur, created the Elton John AIDS foundation, business man and is an incredible supporter of new music, artists and anyone that wants to do covers of his songs. He also currently has a show in Beats1 Radio. He has been through some incredible struggles and yet has come out on top.
Try songs like I’m still standing (live), anything off the “Duets” album, and even “circle of life”. Lots of classic rock tunes for sure!!! He is loved by millions around the world and his concerts are legendary!!! Check out his “60th birthday” party in Central Park. One of his best performances!

Ok seeing this nearly a year later after you posted this, and reading the comments, I have gotten so emotional at the memories this brought flooding back. THANK YOU for posting this video of his1980 Central Park concert. Like others here I was there and it was the MOST AWESOME Elton John concert I've been too (and I have been several and feel they are all great). We managed to be pretty close to the stage since a friend slept overnite at the park to mark our spot. How we found him when there werent any cellphones at the time I have no idea. But people respected the space he saved the four of us who joined him. There was a great atmosphere of excitment as we all waited for Elton John and for FREE! Like someone said below his Donald Duck costume was R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S. but this song and this moment was a highlight of that concert. Im close to hitting 60 years in age soon and at one of his farewell concerts at Madison Square Garden concert last October there I was screaming and jumping up and down to this man's music like no time had passed. So glad you recognized the talent and level of devoted fans he had even at this moment in his career yes to have people shouting the words to his song. Love you guys.Keep the videos coming.
