DO NOT USE THESE ON YOUR HAIR UNLESS YOU WANT IT FOREVER. I’ve had this for about a month now and it stained my hair SO bad and it won’t come out! It is a very beautiful color but it never comes out 🤎😭
Oh wow I guess it depends what color you put it over, I used overtone espresso over bright red hair and it came out in like two washes, I used up the two tubs I bought then switched to something else because it would not stay in my hair at all
Thank you for trying this I used Maria Nila in brown and dark brown and they washed out really nice and I was able to go back to blond but they're kind of expensive and hard to get where I live now, so I was hoping overtone would be an alternative but was to scared to try it so thank you for saving me from making a bad decision really appreciate you risking your hair for us.
I think if you have all your hair bleached out to white and use overtone it will last for a long time because bleached hair is very coarse and soaks up color deeper in the strands compared to non bleached hair! Overall the color is beautiful!
My hair stylist (a blonde expert) told me she no longer takes clients who have ever used overtone because it’s so impossible for even a hair magician like her to remove 😭
I feel like no one is talking about your eye makeup and it is STUNNING I have been looking at it the whole video!!! The beautiful brown on the outside, the rainbow prism effect, I am obsessed!!
Ugh years ago I remember paying $40 for two tiny bottles of overtone - it managed to stain my hands and scalp, but not my hair! I left a review and CS reached out and told me I must have used it wrong. They've expanded so much since then, and a lot of their products look interesting, but I'm still bitter and refuse to buy from them lol. But it is interesting to see how the natural colors perform!
Oh no, be careful when you are trying to remove this later. I've had clients that used Overtone at home and had intense chemical reactions in the salon, even many months after using it. I don't know what they put in this stuff but it has been a real pain to try and get rid of.
Have you got any tips on getting blue staining out, its stuck in a specific block in the middle of my hair, its lifted from my roots and ends and stayed in the middle
I’ve seen hairdressers compare overtone to fabric dye. They really hate this product because they find that it doesn’t come out and if it does, it’s difficult.
I've used overtone golden brown and vibrant pink on my hair and it came very easily using the overtone fading shampoo. I've used permanent hair dye since then and had absolutely no problems.
I'm glad you tried them, but the issue with removing is why I haven't tried them. I saw a video a while ago where someone compared it to carpet dye an that terrified me
I’ve used the overtone magenta and red shades and they were pretty easy to apply and saturate. I found the black and chocolate Brown to be a little thicker. This result on your hair looks FAB btw.
As a stylist, before I quit, I always advocated AGAINST this product and SPLAT if my clients asked. They’re basically fabric dye and they’re the devil to try to get out of hair. If SPLAT was involved, I outright refused to bleach the hair because I learned by experience that it didn’t lift out. 😭 If they wanted to, I’d go darker on them but I’d let them know if they bleached it that the SPLAT was still in there.
Do u have any opinion on Lush Hennah? Stylists wouldn't touch it while it was growing out on me, which is totally understandable, but I found it dyed darker with box dye with no issue and when it was grown out for about 2 years I did highlights with no issue. Just curious bc stylists shy away from Hennah.
@@bashmeesh Personally I never messed with henna either. It doesn’t exactly penetrate the hair very well, but rather coats it instead. I did have a client who had henna and didn’t care if she had to shave her head in the end, but she wanted me to bleach it. It was a wild ride for sure. Some parts lifted, some parts didn’t, and some parts just straight up melted. I only used a 6% (20 volume) to do test strands and I refused to bleach her whole head. Sometimes you get lucky, which I think is your case when you got your highlights done and it lifted, but if it were me I wouldn’t push my luck. 😭 For henna, I recommend just growing it and cutting it off. After about 18-20 months you can get a cute a-line bob or asymmetrical bob to cut off all the henna if that’s your style. Henna is just VERY finicky. 💖
I just saw your Instagram story asking how to remove Overtone Brown and I was like WTF, Aislinn went Brown!! Then this video popped up! Never thought I would see you do brown.
That brown is insanely beautiful!!! I love how affected you were at the end by the result and the nostalgia!!! It is SOOOO PRETTY!!!! I'm so obsessed with your never ending hair journey, so addicted to this channel
Oddly enough, this might be your video that’s most useful to me. I have naturally ash brown hair (which washes me out) but near white at the crown. I do dye my hair closer to medium brown when covering the grey. This would actually help as far as me dealing with root growth in the areas which are closer to white.
I have pink hair. When I first went pink over 6 years ago ish, I use overtone first. The smell was decent and I didn't mind it, but I thought it was over priced, but kept using it. Fast forward about 6 or 7 months into using it, I discovered at sally's their ION line of color conditoners to add to your own condioner. SO MUCH CHEAPER! I already used their shampoo and condioner, and would use the overtone every few days. I have been using that method for years now! I get compliments all the time about my hair!
i use the Ion color depositing masks, too!!!! i just redye over my blue and they're like half the price but make my hair feel lovely! and the color lasts just as long, especially if you redye it a few times!!!
@@yeoinbird Sally’s Sky Blue is magic! I’ve never gotten more compliments on my hair (like stopped on the street by passerby!) as I did with that blue. When it’s fresh it looks like it’s radioactive or something! I sometimes cheat on it with other colours, but I always go back.
I've heard overtone is really rough on the hair, some hair stylists reaaaallly recommend against it. Like a very intense stain, basically fabric dye strength.
@@AkaAislinn Yeah I only knew because I heard someone say the fabric dye thing once and wanted to fact check it because it seemed like an exaggeration but from what I read from stylists a lot don't like it.
@@liv1639 if you scroll the comment section, you can see former hairdressers or current hairdressers, even some other people using it at home say overtone is the devil and to stay away from it. From what they’ve said, it’s like an overpriced splat box dye.
Adore is so much better and so much cheaper!! I’ve been using it for years even slept in it once and had fabulous results! Definitely recommend 1000/10 🥰 but I do love how your hair turned out!
I think it would be a good idea to see you do a shadow root, specially now that you're not gonna bleach your roots for some time. You could melt them into the rest of your blonde hair :)
I’m so excited to see the results!! I use Overtone a lot now since I previously fried my hair with box dye. Bleach baths and color depositing conditions have greatly improved the look and health of my hair!
I went brown 3 months ago and managed to find a light colour. It matches my roots (my natural colours like yours) and I don't need to redye. My hair growth from steroid falling out and immunotherapy has grown about 3 inches eeeekkkk.. had a huge cut and by next Feb/March I should have a head of proper hair. I miss the blonde and mad colours sooooooo much but after lossing half a head of hair, I darent touch it xxx yours always looks so cool x
I used to use overtone exclusively….the greens and turquoise I had trouble even bleaching out! I did enjoy the browns over root areas just to make them warmer.
i think it's hilarious you posted this video! I'm a "dirty dish water ashy blonde" too and I'm going brunette next week lol. it's been 11 years since i've been a brunette, but I'm ready for a change! thanks for the heads up on Overtone, I'll definitely use a regular semi-perm instead!
Oohh yes!! I've been waiting for this review! I've been using the dark blue on my hair for over a year now and I love how it fades!! It's honestly my favourite dye!!
When i heard u werent sure wether to use adore or overtone, but decided to do overtone, i was sooo sad. I am thinking about going brown to, but i already use adore and like their brown/blondish shades, so it would have been perfect, if u tried it :) especially because so many are talking about how they never got rid of the overtone.
I love around @25:00 the little bit of your natural roots that you can see just look like a shadow root that is supposed to be there on purpose lol 🙌 it’s gorgeous!! I love how it’s like a throwback to your high school colors you loved. 😂🥰
I just bought overtone espresso during their black friday sale, and this is going to be my 3rd time using their dyes. definitely mixing it with conditioner and kisstintations to make the mixture thinner! (I really am just getting overtone to get another one of their containers since i threw the first one away without thinking about it)
I love overtone and it’s the only dye I’ll ever use again. That being said- some colours stain really badly depending on whether your hair is natural or bleached. All the colours I’ve had I’ve used on my natural hair and bleached hair. Fades out quickly on natural hair and stains for months on bleached hair.
This is like a rogue from xman, E girl moment and I love it. That feeling of nostalgia is priceless! I think you should have fun with all shades. Don't feel pressured to always do vibrant colors!
This looks really cool! I bet it would look great in braids. I just recently blended my ashy roots into the rest of my hair as well. I used Clairol Beautiful Collection Semi Permanent in the color Chai Brown and watered it down--it worked great over my bleached hair but my hair probably could have used a tiny bit of warm filler first. I have also used Adore before and it's a nice consistency. I wasn't able to get my hands on a cooler shade with Adore so I used Honey Brown a few months ago, which is a pretty color, though very very warm.
I'm a huge fan of overtone pastels. I have bleached silver hair and I love to use it for a pop of color, and it washes out no issues. The texture is nice, I love the smell, and it's conditioning for me. Maybe their formula is different for naturals?
The naturals are different. I've used red and orange and the colors would wash or bleach out fine. Then I used ginger from the natural line and I can't get it out of my hair so I went back to deep red to cover it.
