I dyed my hair auburn/copper 2 years ago after spending my whole life as a natural girlie. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. Even tried matching brows. If you are a black girl thinking of going copper, do it!!! The color is sooo forgiving and goes well with so many skin tones. I use L’Oréal hicolor even for touch ups but idk too much bout the process because my sis is a stylist. This also reminded me I need a major touch up

@@andohtruck yes it does ruin it especially if you keep changing colours. The bleach isn’t good. Best to stick with virgin hair God gave you your colour that suits you uniquely 🥰
@@andohtruck this is the only thing stopping me from going copper :/ everytime i get my hair done, the stylist is always surprised by how thick & healthy my hair is. I'm too scared to risk it. Probably gonna get really good type 4 kinky copper wig instead

I actually use the ear bags when I do my daughters hair and when i do color or hena, very useful, especially if you want to wear headphones while dying.

As someone who recently found out this year that my “it girl” hair color for me is copper/ginger? This is SOOOO good for me to see
In case somekme sees this : when you wear metal earings or necklaces be very careful with anything rhat has oxidation cream in it!!!! Whether its bleach, color or baking soda concoction, oxidation cream will interact with metal and you might even get a skin reaction from that reaction. Either put off your metal jewelry or use these protection bags, theyre important!!

I was SO embarrassed to have red hair and freckles growing up - and now I love it. I still dye my hair a lot but as of now for 2024 I'm going in with copper hair and letting my freckels show more. Loved this video- all the girls are gorg and so are you Brad.

The first chick rocked the bleach brow!
My natural color is reddish brown, but definitely brunette. I've done it auburn/red for years, but out of the box until a few years ago. Started getting it done at the salon & it adds so much dimension! Initially, I went b/c I wanted some lighter highlights or boleyage(sp?) & knew my limits lol Loved it & my hairdresser is really comfortable w/reds so we've mixed it up each time. Started using more coppers the last few times & I love them! She always puts a darker red on the roots & pulls it down to blend w/the brighter & lighter colors. Makes it look way better when it grows out, way less noticeable. She's so amazing w/my hair & loves that I like to try new stuff. The only restriction is I'm military so any color has to be one that occurs naturally. So no purple undertones or fire-engine/crayon red. Can't wait until I'm out & able to do whatever color I want!

The 2nd girl, it's actually good for your hair, especially after using a high developer, to close that cuticle with a semi permanent. It Does make a difference & helps the red/copper stay in longer because the cuticle is closed. If you watch Guy Tang fantasy color videos, he does this All the time. I do it in the salon & it works very well on my clients.
The last gal it was actually ok that she did her roots at the same time as the ends because they were already prelightened. If it wasn't already lightened, then yea, those roots would turn super hot compared to the rest. The color remover worked in her favor.

The inspiration picture the second girl used (the girl in the yellow chick nuggs shirt) is exactly what I went into the salon requesting three days ago. I hadn't been to the salon in a year and had lots of new growth and my ends had faded to NEARLY that very color. New stylist. Now, I'm sitting here with not only a very dark color (thinking she was going for dark auburn instead of a light rust) but it's straight up purple. I was worried when I got home and looked under another light, but it was confirmed after I washed my hair several days later. My hair is Merlot purple. *sigh* At least Brad gave me absolute lyfe with his comment concerning the 1st girl's results.
to everyone thinking of getting this colour, (especially the brighter ginger / copper colours) just know that it is very high maintenance and the colour will fade quickly. i dyed my own hair with l’oréal hi lights in the shade copper this summer and it’s a gorgeous shade but the bright orange i had the week i dyed it quickly faded to a darker copper. still a gorgeous shade but i wanted to look like merida 😭. i highly recommend it though, i’ve always thought ginger was so beautiful!
This is why I gave up on copper/red. I was having to do it every 2 weeks to keep it vibrant and it was just so much upkeep. It says a lot that my white/ash blonde is easier to maintain than red. Still miss it though!

@@adria3960Semi permanent color in your conditioner. It deposits a small amount of color every time you apply it. You can also do full applications of undiluted semi permanent color to extend the color between applications of permanent color with developer. There's no lift with semi so it won't do much for your roots, but should refresh the color on hair that's already been lifted.

I get what you mean but its just some things compliment so much better.
I think everyone should research colour theory honestly. I knew I was warm toned so cool tones made me look yellow but couldn't figure out why warm neon orange made me look gray and sickly. Turns out I have a "muted" colour palette so "clear" colours bring out the gray undertones. It's helpful not keeping trying every neon to figure out none of them look good on me

You guys ! I got an under dye a few months ago and I’ve been touching it up myself about every 4 weeks with xmondo super purple and it’s seriously 12/10 ! It’s worth the hype he knows what he’s doing! I have level 3/4 natural brown hair but the purple over the lightened part looks so good!

I literally just used Hicolor Soft Auburn and Copper on my hair over christmas, after bleach wash removing black dye. I've used it many times in the past and it worked well as the first step towards my auburn goals :) that being said, Brads warnings about it should be taken to heart

I have a bag of those ear only shower caps ... they were great when i had a freshly pierced industrial. Can't think pf literally any other reason a person would need them though ... i tried using them once to color with my ear buds in my ear buds are now pink so they don't work for that 😂

Brad, even though it goes without saying, you look so good. @BradMondo question for you: what is your advice to someone who wants to color their naturally dark brown hair, but it has low porosity? Mine won't take dye because of this.
Well, the real question is..
What kind of colour are you using?
Semi, demi, or permanent?
It doesn’t matter if your hair has low-porosity, when it comes to permanent.
If you are using a permanent haircolour, with the proper level of developer - it, absolutely, will take.
If you are using a semi or a demi-permanent haircolour - which, semi uses no developer, and demi use very low level developer, which, isn’t enough to lift and only deposits..
Odds are, you’re not gonna see it - unless you are staying the same level and only changing the tone, or you are going darker than your natural colour.
@@XOChristianaNicole my preference is to stay with demi-permanent as it doesn't have the harshness that permanent dye has. But I'm not opposed to permanent dye as I have used it in the past. I'm trying to go for a dark red (not quite burgundy) tone. I did a bleach bath back in the beginning of November. But when I tried to put demi-permanent dye in, it washed out within a few days. When I talked to a few coloroists at Sally's (their colorist on demand tab) they gave me a list of products to use to achieve what I wanted. It included a porosity equalizer, 30 volume developer, and the dyes for the shade i wanted.
22:22 to be fair, I have a license and I can shop at pro supply stores… it is very difficult to find any professional high lift red hair color, so it’s no wonder why all these people are shown using it. Even my own hair stylist admitted she did not know of any other besides the L’Oreal HiColor. I myself use the HiColor HiLights in Red mixed with Magenta and my hair looks and feels great. If anyone does know of any professional brand high lift red hair color, let me know (and what store carries it).
