      Driver and passenger seating area is pretty roomy, rear seats are usable if you don't have a really tall person in front and adjust the seats so there's a compromise in space between front and rear. Hatch space is almost non existent, with the seats down you can fit a good amount of stuff, but no rear passengers in that case. Definitely isn't a big car, there are a few smaller less practical ones like MX-5 / Miata and Toyota GT/Subaru BRZ, Fiat 500 Etc.

      I've done silly stuff like this in mine. Maybe not to the extent shown, but rallies destroy even purpose-built cars. But I've hooned it on USFS roads in the winter (the ones they plow, anyway...); going strong at 40K. The stiff suspension and short wheelbase are the major factors that distinguish it for doing well on bad roads.

Anyway...I know nothing about rally cars but I have a hard time believing the only differences are tires and decals. But ..meh...I could be wrong. The Ford Fiesta ST is a GREAT car non the less...everyone says it's a riot to drive and has lots of torque on tap low in the rev range. Most fun for the buck no question. Ford really has gotten their shit together.

      AJDrac You could totally get the VXR hot hatch cars via Buick if general motors ever decided to import them.
      The entire Buick line-up bar the big SUV have been replaced with rebadged Vauxhall/Opel cars.
      The Verano is the Astra, the Cascada is the... Cascada, the Regal is the Insignia etc. etc.
      Considering how quickly they are expanding their product lines, I wouldn't be surprised if you got the more potent version of the Verano with Astra VXR internals underneath (280bhp, mechanical diff) - albeit yours would be a Sedan, not a hatchback.
      Then you've got the Insignia VXR which would be the new T-Type and Grand National. 2.8L Turbo V6 and a fixed All Wheel Drive system. Again, yours would be a Sedan - ours is a fastback hatchback.
      General Motors just needs that little extra push to being them over. I doubt they'd bring over the Corsa with a Buick badge, however. A little super-mini to rival the Fiesta would probably be re-branded as a Chevrolet.
      The Opel Adam could be a Buick, however. Premium Micro-Car ala the Fiat 500.

    Seems to be a lot of people in here that don't believe what they are seeing and just claim it's bullshit. Is it because they are jealous of it and just don't want to believe it? I have a Fiesta ST myself and just threw some Michelin Ice X3 tires on it and it's awesome in the winter. I wouldn't want to throw it around a rally course myself just out of fear of damaging it.
    If you don't believe all this stuff, go to the Team O'Neal rally school youtube channel and watch them actually doing it in Stock ST's. They start you in a Stock ST then move you up to what he's driving. You can also see them transforming the Stock Fiesta's into their Rally cars. They just strip it down completely then put in the sequential transmission and throw Rally Suspension on it.

    Someone please tell me how in the world these guys are capable of running in snow. What tires are they using? I love my FIST, but it is one of the worst cars in snow I have ever driven. Mainly because of its stock summer tires it comes with and it is so light weight.

    • @pedalhawk7
      @pedalhawk7 9 лет назад +6

      Tom Brooks ANY winter tires would be better than the stock summers. Those should never ever touch snow or even any temperature around freezing - they're summer only. I run Kumho I'zen (relatively cheap winter tires) on Motegi MR125's (16") and my FiST is fantastic in the snow! I actually look forward to a good snowfall, it's that much fun.

    • @gh7213
      @gh7213 9 лет назад

      +Kurtis Martin what size tire do you run? Do you recommend this tire/ wheel combo (substituting an all weather tire) for daily use or does the performance suck?

    • @pedalhawk7
      @pedalhawk7 8 лет назад +2

      Greg Howell I run 205/45R16's in the winter (Nov-Mar/Apr) and the stock wheel/tire setup in the summer. You can run 15 inch rims but they get too close to the front callipers in my opinion, especially in deep snow and dirt. It depends on where you live and how much snowfall you get though. I'm outside of Toronto, so I don't risk running all weathers in the winter for safety reasons and because I want to have fun and not worry about getting stuck or not having traction when I need it. Also, I would always choose summer tires over all weather. I love grip, and have found decent grip even with the winters as they're softer.

      Kurtis Martin Do you guys have any experience with different size wheels? 17s, 16s, 15s or 18s? I always thought the lower the profile meaning the higher the wheels size 17s,18s the better the traction for summer tires on the road. I know they look alot better. Why would anyone go with a lower wheel size? Seems like the lower the rim size the more your car looks like a normal sedan on the road. Any science and logic behind all this?

    Sponsored review, no rally car is less than 50% modified to the street car. The Fiesta is not that good, and is also a unreliable shitbox. I know what i'm speaking about because i own one for years. that shit was only reliable for 3 years, since then everything on it is beaking down and even rain water gets inside the boot. The worst car that my closest family ever owned. A good car for leasing, not for owning.

      Definitely seems like a sponsored review, I'm not sure about long term reliability either, rear brakes slide pins on the seem to seize up often, so you need to clean and lube em up, paint is cheap and chips easy, there's weird buzzing noises, but other than that my 2014 is going strong so far.
