Mine is the Philips Fidelio X2HR paired with a Soundblaster G3. I still have it and have exactly 1 day to return these. Actually I only a have a couple of hours. What you think? Should I "upgrade"?! Any recommendation to the X2HR?
I like these a lot. bassy and tons of fun. Even crazier with the EQ in the amp. It's all a budget target, got these x2hr under a hundred and the dac just for thirty.
One thing I do not particularly understand is the open back perks, I don't seem to notice significant differences between open and closed back.

They are the 'old faithful'. Needless to say, as soon as I watched your video I picked a pair up, happy to support a good product!

Does the quality of the materials used appear comparable to older versions of the DT770s? The limited were my first headphone purchase and I'm curious if the quality of materials/build has been cheapened over time. They are awesome headphones either way!

Just picked these up today, but will be returning them tomorrow. Extremely fatiguing highs that caused me discomfort after about 15 minutes of medium volume listening.
The comfort was amazing on my head, they fit like a glove and I'm a big fan of the velour pads. Tried playing with an EQ to smooth them out, but they're just not for me. Onto the next!

I've been enjoying my DT 1990 Pros for almost 4 years now and the only issues I've had are that the service kit cable (that connects the drivers together) has finally shorted out. However, I've got a cable replacement on the way and it's a very simple fix that you can do by yourself without having to do any soldering. The only reason the cable is even shorted is due to one of my pets getting caught under my desk, snagging the cable and yanking my headphones off my head onto the floor abruptly a couple of times. I expect to keep using these cans for at least another decade without having to service them much if at all.

I'm actually running the DT 990 Pros with 250OHM for my music production and they are a solid choice! I plan on buying the DT 770 Pro X LE's because I hear they are slightly better than the 990 Pro's. As for production I tend to produce tons of EDM such as Trance, Dubstep, and Progressive House, so lots of bass heavy music.
Someone had recommended me the Audio Technicas over the DT 990's, but nah. The velour ear muffs feel amazing and they don't warm up your ear to the point you are sweating, and with a quiet place and having them as open-back headphones, they are amazing for mixing and mastering.

Two things... If I needed to replace my 770 Pro, I would grab these without hesitation based on your review. Heck, it was your review that turned me onto the 770 Pros in the first place. ;) The second thing, however, is that BD has stopped selling the replacement headband cushions that fit these. I know because the "leather" recently started peeling off in one spot on mine and the only available replacements were from 3rd party suppliers, and they're the exact same or poorer "quality" than the original. I recommend, and am currently using, a removable/washable cover that goes over the headband cushion to keep it from flaking/peeling away. Thanks for the killer review as always!

if you're in your room and its quiet and that's all you're really into then the open backs as 9/10 times an open back would be better and its true in this case as well however if you're also going to use them outside in louder environments then probably the 700 for the isolation

Headband and pads are better on the 770 imho, but open-back is always the better choice if isolation isn't a problem. The 900 Pro X isn'T a good headphone for music though, because the new drivers are fairly dull because of too much front dampening.

I know this is late... but I'm looking at stepping up from my Sony WH-1000XM3s that I've had forever. I was looking at the HIFIMAN 5XX on drop, but I always hear that the DT1990 is where its at. I don't want to put almost $600 into headphones because then I have to get a really basic Amp/Dac. I was looking at getting the SMSL SH-9 & SU-6 with the HIFIMANs thoughts?

They are not 40€/$ more than the standard. The normal 770 pro are on a street price of 130-140€, 60-70€ more is a big difference

Hey brother, can you help me understand how the stack up against the 1770 I own the 770 250’s the 1990s the 900 600 ohms and several other pairs of headphones as well. Right now I’m using my 770 pros for my electronic drum set and they sound decent but I would like a little more isolation and maybe some more stereo separation so I’m looking for an upgrade. I really love my 1990s so I’m really curious to see if the 1770s would be a worthy upgrade.

I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Do you get nice surround sound with this? I'm not sure why but the only "gaming headset" ive had that sounded right was the gen3 astro a50s with the dolby button on. (and yes i know they are overpriced, its frustrating). Everything i've tried since then sounds so stereo and less cohesive. I'm at the point where im giving up on gaming headsets because they just overcharge cause "gaming" and has a mic. I was looking at the classics at first (admittedly im still watching your video). I'm trying to figure out how i can hook this up if i want to listen to it through my smart tv but also xbox. The astro gen3s have the optical cable which allows me to listen to both without changing anything (aside from the remote's input obviously)
