“I got tagged, my ears are still ringing” is spoken by Peppy in the final game. He says it if you don’t shoot all the ships firing at him.

Ah, it seems this I believe is a different take. Unfortunately TCRF didn't differentiate between a cut line and another take for this game. Sorry about that!

I remember Bill literally saying "husky unit: cover the base. Bulldog unit: don't let anything through." But there never was any hint on why there should be two different units. They all just looked the same in their ships. Now as taking a closer look at the endscene with General Pepper suddenly everything makes sense 😂
    Thank you for that!

Those tutorial lines from Peppy where he tells you how to do various maneuvers were all replaced by other lines where he just advises you to perform certain actions and the controls are unspoken text in the box. As for the lines where the characters say they're going different directions, there are lines like them in Venom 1. Falco says 'I'll take the left', Peppy says 'I've got the right', and Slippy says 'I'm going left'.

The line that is related to Wolf at 10:49 has been used in the 3DS version of the game, but like you said, it was cut from the game before it was released the first time around, most likely for the reason to not trigger people at the time.

Was there any information about characters who were cut when making the jump from Star Fox 2 (like Fay and Miyu) or new ones that were considered? I'm from the UK. My first experience with Lylat Wars was a demo kiosk in Virgin Megastores. I was hooked instantly. Instead of shopping, I stood there for about 20 minutes just playing the game. I had played Starwing (seriously, why wasn't it called Starwing 64 in the UK) but this game was so much better. It was my birthday present that year.

This is a very special game to me. The first time i saw a game in 3D. the N64 was the Christmas Present for me and my brother and we got Lylat Wars as well. I found it so impressive and immersive and it gave me a feeling that i can still remember to this day and that i will never forget. Since then i love Space. And also, it was and still is a very good game. one of my favorite of the N64 and still the best Starfox game i played. So i think it was good after all they canceled the SNES title, or we maybe would have gotten a very different game on the N64, or even no Starfox at all.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  Год назад +2

should just released starfox 2 on snes. it would just hype it up more for when the 64 version finally came. smh.
i dont think fans would be put off by it cuz snes was on its last legs and the new 32 bit poly hype which was happening.
lots of ppl had snes and loved starfox so it would sold well. gave nintendo more time for starfox on 64....
oh well tho. also the beta elements look way better then the final. especially the hud and boost. also wish they kept the
snes arwing design. lol. skinny ones. at least starfox 2 finally got released tho on mini.

The N64 was all about big, new experiences, so on paper, a distinctly arcade-style game that was straight up replicating gameplay from the previous gen sounds like it would have been destined to fail. But the cinematic experience (along with the most brutal rumbling of any game to this day, I'll never forget blowing the train up for the special exit to Macbeth) really was novel in the mid 90s. And we all had our minds blown when we discovered that on-foot multiplayer was real, and not just a recess legend

14:25 there's something weirdly unsettling to hear some enthusiastic voice relay controls to you that you already know how to do like it's supposed to be helpful. I doubt anyone gets what I mean but it feels that way to me. Probably because the element of desperation that SF64 has near the end of the game makes it feel like "this is all up to you"

I've noticed that while N64 early Alphas/Betas like StarFox or Mario Kark R lack detail compared to final titles, they bo appear to run on Highter Screen Resolution than final -versions. It might be difficult to spot on old VCR tapes, but may be Nintendo had games running on Expansion Pack even before N64 was on sale, but games were likely less than 64mbit games on Alpha, hence the lack of detail. So they did go for more detail and speed rather than resolution at the end of the day.

Starfox 64 had real Nintendo quality to it, was so much more than just a 3D shoot 'em up. Nobody else has ever done better quality since, but the genre was pretty much dead at that point. Much better than Starfox/Starwing on SNES which felt like the game was barely chugging along, even if it did look impressive. It's honestly sad how the franchise never got to bloom into an incredible 3D flying experience. Atleast we will have our childhood memories to remember when times were good. The advertisement for the original Star Fox was definitely noticeable because, 1, it was big enough to be a poster, and 2, it had puppets that are unmistakably supposed to be Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco. Though the puppets in question are obviously different from the ones that were used in the Nintendo Direct presentation of Star Fox Zero. Actually, Shigeru Miyamoto didn’t want to be shown up by a bunch of snotty British teenagers making a Star Fox sequel on what would be considered an inferior outdated system once the N64 console came out, so he actively went out of his way to sabotage Argonaut’s development of Star Fox 2, ultimately ending with it getting cancelled and hidden from the public for the longest time all because Shigzy was being a giant freaking manchild instead of the gaming saint Nintendrones naively believe him to be. He also did the same nonsense to Rare, just sayin’, and you all wonder why they went over to Microsoft so readily. Sheesh, damn Nintendrones. 😒

      Literally Miyamoto killed Star Fox.

Uh, what? SF2 development wasn't "sabotaged" outside of being cancelled at the very end. And both SNES Star Fox games are borderline unplayable tech demos.

Nice trolling. Without Nintendo there would have never been a Star Fox in the first place.
