- Our family of five’s on quest to experience 110 distinct cultures across all 7 continents by the summer of 2025. We’ve just started a 3-week tour of Southeast Asia and the first spot is Singapore, where we stayed at the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This episode shows what it's like.
Singapore is an island, a city, and a country. And it's made up of about 64 remote islands in addition to the main island. The country is just a little over a half century old, but in that time, they've increased their landmass by 25% through land reclamation projects.

ABOUT US.
We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil's ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week-from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.
Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline-it’s just the new, global way of life.
Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.
We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.
Welcome to Singapore! Great editing guys.
Thank you! 😊 We love Singapore!
Yes, just stayed there for 3 nights. Place was packed and jumping. I highly recommend staying there at least once in your lifetime.
Us too! Suck a cool experience. And great service!
Singapore is so futuristic and historic at the same time; An amalgam of modern and traditional. It is truly an amalgamation of different cultures, like the US.......majestic.
We completely agree!
This was incredibly well narrated. Keep it up guys
Thank you! This means a lot to us!

Nothing beats the view from the top of Marina Bay Sands in the swimming pool esp at night, the city is like a jewel.
Oh so true! The views were stunning. We were so great full it was a clear night!
Love, love Singapore. What's not to like? Glad you enjoyed it too.

@@AlwaysBeChanging how much did you pay for this truly luxurious hotel. I thought it is really expensive . Is there a way to save some money.
Really loved the intro where you & wifey share facts/tidbits of Singapore
Also really liked the way both of you review the food with so much description other than the usual "0ooo, its great." "0ooo, its delicious" I see from other videos 😀
Thank you! I’m so glad you found our channel! I hope you check out our Devouring Singapore episode too.
Thank u for visiting Singapore.. Trust that your family will enjoy your stay here.. To enjoy your meals , go out of tourist attractions and njoy the local hawker food.. its amazing and price are super reasonable.
Thank you! We did visit the amazing hawker stalls and we have an episode of it too. I hope you check it out. We thought was delicious! We also went to National Kitchen and Candlenut. We enjoyed exploring Peranakan cuisine!
I m thoroughly enjoying your food trail in Singapore...have fun.
The food there is amazing!
Yes, we couldn’t agree more. We loved every bite we had! 😋
Liked that and will make a point of getting up onto the roof-garden on my next visit. Also on my list, a trip to the horse-racing track, before it is redeveloped for more housing.
Sounds like a great plan 👍🏻
Welcome to Singapore!! hahah thanks for sharing all the interesting facts and quirks about our tiny island! Love your editing! New subber here! :D
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found our channel!!
Awesome!
Singapore is amazing. Probably the best country in Southeast Asia when it comes to infrastructures.
Yes, it’s such an innovative city. So clean, beautiful and safe 🥰

Thank you!! :)
Wow! Beautiful! Love your little kids, they are food critics already haha
No I say staying in Santosa is mind blowing. MBS is great also.
We would love to explore Santos’s someday. There is so much for us to come back and see in Singapore.
Great video 👍👍👍
Thank you! 🙏
Great video!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching 🙏
What a stunning hotel... and good on ya for being so adventurous with the unusual food and drink combos. You truly are embracing change, keeping it fun, and that's very inspirational. Eat something weird for us in the Philippines haha.
This hotel is the complete opposite of the houseboat we were on last week... wait until that episode drops! From luxury to rustic, where we're hand-pumping our own toilets 👍🏼 Hope you're having a great week :)
AWESOME VIDEO! I AM FROM SINGAPORE TO!
AND YOUR REACTION TO THE FOOD IS AMAZING!
Thank you! We love food when we travel. Singapore has been fantastic!
great video♥️
Thank you! 🙏😊
Hope you guys can come back and stay a little longer the next time.
So do we! There are so many things we love about Singapore. Such a clean, beautiful and innovative city.
will follow your guide when i am in Singapore two weeks from today.
I hope you do! You’re going to LOVE Singapore! I hope you also saw our other episode touring the food. The hawker stalls, high tea and Candlenut were all fantastic! If you do make it to Amoy hawker stalls, please have a curry puff pastry and tell us all about it. 👍🏻
@@AlwaysBeChanging so excited to fly from NJ to Singapore in two weeks
@@AlwaysBeChanging I am not a RUclipsr so not able to video tape like you. However I think this trip is going to be fun!
@@modhua4497 it absolutely will! I hope the trip brings you happiness and growth that you keep with you for a long time.
Safe travels guys.. 🤗
Thank you! We did end up making it to Manila. 🤗 Lots more episodes to come…
@@AlwaysBeChanging awesome, have a wonderful family time.
Celavi is not the only restaurant up there. There are 2 more but they are just on different tower top
Right. We discovered that when we walked around. I hope it was clear in the episode. Not sure why we thought it was the only one 🤦♀️
Oh the food!!!
hi friend that place awesome phil got jokes🤣🤣wow that apple store looks amazing thank you so much
😂 Oh, this place was so cool, Wendy! Thanks for watching 🤗
Singapore it's very nice and modern. but I noticed, you have the most view with your episode in the Philippines episodes. 👍👍👍 Philippines is Paradise majority of the islands and more culture.
Visit Blair Road here in Singapore 🇸🇬 lovely and vibrant shophouses. In the Philippines there’s a weekend market at Salcedo Makati. You’ll gonna love it 😉
Thank you! What island is Salcedo Makati on? We’re currently in Cebu.
@@AlwaysBeChanging Hi that’s in Luzon in Makati City 😊
Should try the newly renovated room on tower 2. Much nicer with bidet :)
Wow, can’t imagine the rooms in general getting nicer. We booked a basic room and the experience was fantastic!
@@AlwaysBeChanging the current rooms at mbs kinda meh tbh but the newly renovated rooms on T2 are so much much nicer. Have a good time in Manila.
Was it acrophobia when u stand on the balcony? Cause im getting one from looking at the screen
Modern singapore is half a century old but it was officially founded as a british trading port in 1819.
Thank you so much for that fact!
Marina Bay Sands, snacks and drinks before 2020 were paid items, only recently did they make it free. also the rooms that face gardens by the bay also double as smoking rooms unlike the ones facing the city as the is a balcony for those rooms. I first stayed at MBS in late 2010, i was hungry at night and ate the snacks thinking it was complimentary only to find out it was paid and paid $100+ kinda wished i ordered room service instead.
Ooof! That's some pricey snacks 😞
did you guys miss out on Sentosa as well as garden’s by the bay? Cloud forest and flower dome?
We did 😞 we planned it to go to Sentosa and do the night zoo and we also planned on garden of the bay but since we lost a day because of our flight delay we couldn’t fit it all in with everything else. it just leaves more for us to come back and do!
@@AlwaysBeChanging oh dear thats absolutely unfortunate all the main highlights! Fret not maybe in the future!
Honestly if you ask me here in ang mo kio its like the rural part of singapore cus where i live people would spit like a frickin asteroid hitting the ground they leave their bikes in the walkways also we have a marketplace selling antiques and good food and alot of parks.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing 😊
I live in Ang Mo Kio too, but probably in a parallel Universe. It is certainly not rural and have yet to see somebody spits.
I think Mott32 is a chain?
❤
Singapore asia days
4:55 that's what she said
We’ll played, my friend 🙌🏼
How do u afford all this travel. I’ve done the same exact route before but that was when I was rich…
We work while we travel so we make income as we go. We also work with a travel destination club that helps keep prices reasonable for us.
husband speaking - wasn't going to comment this time other then to say what a beautiful city, and THEN - detail, time 9:35 and you are eating Norwegian Salmon and
then mention crispy horse belly that you had for lunch. ? Not really an American choice of food - I guess horse meat could be good.
We love your comments! And we appreciate your stories too. I think we were mentioning crispy pork belly from our earlier lunch.
@@AlwaysBeChanging AH a challenge, what did I hear.? I went back, turned up the volume and listened twice - pork belly, dang. At least Silver, Champion, Trigger and Butter Milk are safe. My first trip to Cebu, 1978 , the PH is still under Martial Law.
We met another family going to our area so we both took single Jeepney. We cross the only bridge to Mandaue, the Army is at the far end with a barricade.. Everyone get out ? except me, talk talk - the guards want something. My wife told them to come to her Aunt's home the next morning. We are allowed to go on. Next morning one guard shows up, mom's Aunt told him, " I know you and your commander, get lost ?
The boy is my guy, he is like where is my Go Cart racing, lions and swimming with the Sharks. Sorry they are the men stuffs only we understand. Sorry sorry again.
He is very adventurous and a definite animal lover!
You do know many suicides were committed in and around there. Result of gambling.
Don't exaggerate.
@@NoohCee Don't aiyoyo us.
I visited Singapore but Singapore is totally overpriced! You pay 500-700 for 5 star hotel and you always find some cleaning issues! I would never do shopping in Singapore I can buy the brand clothes for half and more price less in Europe! Your video about Singapore is for people with budget $1500-2000 dollars a day ! You are out of touch !
The prices depend on the places you shop.
Strange to use the term "always" as if you have stayed in all 5 star hotels in Singapore. It depends on what you want to buy but for branded goods, Europe would definitely be cheaper.
You are absolutely out of touch. You can thoroughly enjoy Singapore with less than SGD100 per day, besides airfare.
