Today I pop around Auckland for a bit before heading off on my next adventure. I did the closest thing we have to PvP currently in Pokémon GO, which was honestly a lot of fun.

I love the communal aspect of pokemon go, talking with strangers and being friendly, it makes playing the game a whole lot more fun
TACO me too. My local park is a hotspot with 3 pokestops(that's the most we have here) and 20 people go there to play every day. We almost have our first local level 40( they're at 39 and 2.5 million do from level 40)
TACO I'm not such a fan. I've given up on my only local gym because its at a play park. Can't go during the day cos it freaks the pearants out and can't go at night because its full of hoodies. The kids don't want to be social with the 6'2" twenty something alone in the playground for some reason. This is much worse in summer.

I Hate it when people take your gym spot after you spend a long time training up a gym by yourself! 😡
Here's to hoping a gym rework that deals with that issue actually happens.
I also hate it when you claim a gym, and you go to the next one so you can collect those coins, and they immediately take down that gym you claimed.

Every time I watch him I train up a gym I cringe because he wastes so much time before actually putting a Pokemon in the gym

EXACTLY MY POINT! Niantic made it so ONLY YOU can put a pokemon in a gym for certain periods of time after training or defeating it, nick took his time as always meaning that period of time ran out and look where that got him. When placing a pokemon in a gym just choose whatever cus it doesn't matter that much in the end. I've put a charmander in a gym cus it was just my most recent catch and gained me enough time to collect my coins. The charmander was actually there for a few hours.

It isn't him taking too long exactly. As you add prestige to the gym it is added in real time. After beating each pokemon. So since he keeps battling to see how far he can go it reaches the next level such that by the time he is done battling they have already taken the gym.
Jramir, I usually have 760-900 pokes constantly, under 5sec is reasonable. I have the poke I'm putting in healed up, upgraded, and named with the gym name BEFORE starting to train up. Makes no sense to do that stuff after the battles.. They key is to know exactly how many pokes you need to beat, running on the last one, then going back and putting yours in. Usually there's like only 2 or 3 seconds for them to capitalize as it updates the prestige, only if they're using bots and stuff will they reliably snipe you, even in high-traffic gyms.
Anybody else highkey studying how to battle in gyms properly? Just me? Forsure

MYSTIC7 I'm not interested in competitive battling, and while I want to like the gym aspect of Pokémon Go it seems pointless since that accomplishment will likely last for only a few minutes and my highest level Pokémon doesn't even have 2000 cp.

After I spent more than an hour leveling up a gym to level 10 from level 9 filled with Pokémon over 2800 CP. The lowest was 2801, someone came out of nowhere and swiped my spot. Niantic should restrict the a spot to the player who leveled up the gym until they are out of proximity.

was all out of revives and potions, I had to keep using my recents.
micheal white actually they shouldn't limit it to that player until he's out of range because they could just accidentally get out of range if the gps signal is bad. they should give that player like 2 minutes to put a pokemon in before anybody else can

The day Nick finally learns what all us Mystics go through when we power up a gym. ITS A RACE FOR YOUR VERY EXISTENCE TO GET A POKEMON IN AFTER IT HITS LV10. never prestige more than needed (more than 50k is pointless), always know exactly which mon is going in, and tap as fast as possible when you reach 50k! flee, check mark, gym, add, in like 2 sec (or get sniped by dumb bitches) cause others near you have an advantage in not seeing the "you lose" prestige added screen.
Pretty much, already got to see 2 of this kinds of gyms for mystic in a lisbon university.

Nick, you need to read this. There are drone flying laws in New Zealand, you might want to take a look at them. I believe you might need a permit to fly drones in urban areas. Just in case you don't know.
The dodge glitch he talked about, is that where you successfully dodge a lethal attack but your pokemon gets animation locked into dying again and again despite having lots of hp. Because this happens a lot for me and it is incredibly annoying
The only thing they can do atm is to give a time window to put a pokemon in for anyone who was battling the gym when it levels up that earned 30%+ of the prestige to level it up. Another thing they could do is show the prestige live as you fight so you know when to flee from battle to drop your pokemon in.

Should have had that kid keep knocking out the bottom poke for you so you could get in! Then it'd be an even more beefed up gym. Where we are gyms have great holding power - it's nice because we have to do enough maintenance to keep it interesting but can still hold 10 gyms without having to commit serious daily time to it :)

That's what he should've done, because in the end it was the person who sniped him on the bottom anyway.
I was at a level 7 gym all by myself the other day and I leveled it up...someone took my spot. leveled it up again. lost my spot again. I leveled it all the way up to 10 and I never got a Pokemon in the gym. someone was either hacking or hiding but either way I deserved one of those spots. I haven't fought a gym since. this system is broken.
This is why I avoid levelling up any gym for mystic besides 1-2 times.
Kinda late to say this, but Auckland city center is full of bots and spoofers, partly due to the horrendous cell signal there.
I often lose signal just walking among the buildings, and get drifted out whenever I try to fight gyms... It's hopeless, and that's why nobody takes down stacked gyms.
I've just been there Nick.. Saw 2 level 9 gyms.. trained them to level 10.. Someone took my place.. Although, i didnt waste my time in powering up a pokemon.. :p. I really hate itt.. Niantic should do something about itttt..

I have have been gym sniped so many times and I strongly dislike it but you shouldn't call people "Horrible" and say that you hate them. What if she had also been training the gym before Nick. Pokemon Go is meant to bring the community together not to promote negative feelings.

Yesterday I hatched 3 eggs, one being a Krabby, another being Igglybuff, and another being a Porygon. I mean, I can't complain for the Krabby ;)

at least there's actually someone in the area battling the gym. unlike here in our town that has very active lvl10 gym but no one around!! ive seen it everytime with my girlfriend

There is no point for me to train up my gyms because no other instinct members are gonna place their pokemon. I held them for about 5 minutes until mystic beat it

anybody noticed how uncommon eggs are now from pokestops? I hit 5 pokestops and didn't get one egg when it use to be every other time you spun one.
It was only a guaranteed egg from a spin during the event. Assuming your Pokemon storage isn't maxed out and you're able to spin stops (you wouldn't be able to if your bag was maxed), then just keep spinning and the eggs will come eventually
10km eggs still come up nicely though.
Man, triple asshats that took your earned spot. What is up with snipers? Don't they have any respect for other players? Jeez. Don't they realize that kind of activity makes us not want to train up gyms? Also, you did NOT deserve to have that spot sniped, Nick. No one should have to worry about teammates taking spots that were not earned by them. It's common courtesy to wait a couple of minutes. If no one has placed a Mon in after that time, then go ahead. But, PLEASE, stop sniping! It's a dick move!
Oh, a local player told me that you now only have 13 seconds, not two minutes, to place a Pokemon in a gym before it can be sniped. Thanks, Niantic. >.>

Nick you trained more Pokes than necessary, the spot was open for probably 2 or 3 minutes, that's why it was easily taken. You gotta calculate the exact number of Pokes you need to train and then leave the train and place yours
They really need to extend the grace period for sniping prevention. When you have like 300 Pokemon, it takes a little longer than 10 seconds to pick out a good one for gym defense.
i asked sometime ago little team instinct player to beat 1 pokemon from level 10 gym that i just trained up and some ***** ******* ******* sniped it, thanks to that little boy who helped me :D

I get what everyone is saying about Nick taking too long to put a Pokémon in the gym but you just can't put any Pokémon in a gym especially if you claiming it for your team... you have to put something that'll last for a while until other players from your team add more Pokémon. I remember I put a 1908 CP Machamp with Counter and Dynamic Punch in a gym for Valor and it lasted for literally 7 whole days because a few ppl put lower CP Blisseys and higher CP Lapras and Dragonite above my Machamp
Why did you go with 1350 and below for each of your Pokemon? In order to prestige, you only need 50% CP of the Pokemon your currently battling. I always go with 2-3 Pokemon at half the CP of the Pokemon at the bottom of the gym, 2-3 Pokemon with half the CP of the Pokemon second from the bottom in the gym and, if applicable, 1-2 Pokemon with half the CP of the Pokemon, third from the bottom in the gym; this still gets me 1000 XP for each defeated Pokemon, every time!

Do you pokémon have to be half of the lowest gym pokémon's CP? I thought it only had to be half of the pokémon you're battling. For example using something 1500 CP for a 3000 CP rhydon. Isn't that right?
