I lost my best friend last year. I rescued him almost 4 years ago. No one wanted him from the shelter because he was already an older dog. He was an amazing companion, and I still cry sometimes when I think of him. They are the most loving creatures and we will love them back always
I lost my dog in December and she was everything to me, she was running around and happy and a week later she was gone because of a medical condition.. it’s hard but you have to accept that you’ll see your best friend in the next life

I'm a Trauma ICU nurse - I see people die all the time. When my Diesel, black lab 11yr old, got sick this summer.. Bleeding tumor in his abdomen... there was nothing I could do. It hit me so hard. I analyzed why.. Those were human vs. a dog. He was more than a dog, my companion. Never complained, with me by my side through some of the BEST years and the WORST years... he was always there. 1/3 of my life. It meant a lot to me. I feel ya.
My father met this girl who took off 2 weeks when her husband died and 6 months off when her dog died. Sometimes animals just get ahold of our hearts. Probably because there so innocent and all they want is for us to be happy.
Ollie was such a character, from the moment I saw him for the first time I fell in love with him. I can't imagine losing such a dear friend. Thank you for sharing this!

Thanks for sharing this with us and being vulnerable like this. Takes balls to be this kind of man and I fully respect it. I also fully feel for you, my family and I also view out "pets" as family and friends and this hurts. Grief and loss really impacts everyone and you never know how. I am late to the game but I know it's probably not the same. Probably even sucks to get notifications on this. But thanks for everything you do and everything you share with this community. I know I certainly appreciate it.

I'm a Trauma ICU nurse - I see people die all the time. When my Diesel, black lab 11yr old, got sick this summer.. Bleeding tumor in his abdomen... there was nothing I could do. It hit me so hard. I analyzed why.. Those were human vs. a dog. He was more than a dog, my companion. Never complained, with me by my side through some of the BEST years and the WORST years... he was always there. 1/3 of my life. It meant a lot to me. I feel ya.
My father met this girl who took off 2 weeks when her husband died and 6 months off when her dog died. Sometimes animals just get ahold of our hearts. Probably because there so innocent and all they want is for us to be happy.

Ollie was such a character, from the moment I saw him for the first time I fell in love with him. I can't imagine losing such a dear friend. Thank you for sharing this!
