I Tried Walking 100,000 Steps in A Day, Here's What Happened

- What's going on everyone!? Today I tried walking 100,000 STEPS in a day. To put things into perspective, it is recommended that you walk 10,000 steps everyday to live a healthy/active lifestyle. So I'm walking 10 days worth in a SINGLE DAY!
I get up at 4:15am to begin this epic journey while I track it all on my apple watch as it has a great step tracker, calorie burn tracker, heart rate monitor and more.
Walking is a significantly underrated method of cardio for weight loss. It's a low impact form of cardio that people of all fitness levels can add into their routine. As you will see, walking burns A LOT of calories! I highly recommend anyone to invest into a step/ activity tracker such as a Fitbit or Apple Watch as a way of keeping your accountable, especially if you're working a desk job.
Hope you all enjoy the video! This was the hardest thing i've ever put my body through for sure :)

Yeah and they fought tigers, sharks, hyneas and baboons off on the way!
Found this video literally the day after doing 41,000 steps in one day. It's not 100k, but for a 40 year old nearly 400 lbs trying to get back in shape, it's a hell of a start.
Best of luck to you mate, I bet you'll make it, a friend of mine also started his weigh loss journey and it's so great to see. He already lost few kgs and is really hyped up and I hope that you are too. I really wish you the best and good luck.
Great job! In my opinion what you did is more difficult and a bigger achievement than what Will did!
Dude that's not a good start. You will fuck up your knees, back before you know and will set any progress for long. A lot of beginners want to do a lot and proceed to do it wrong. Dumb of you to go 40k at 40 yo at freakin 400 pounds.
Your gonna burn out man just do like 5k-10k steps and work your way up
To much bro. Way to much. Be safe and get it done though.
Roughly 177'000 steps in 118km in the Military. Crazy experience, took us around 30 hours. We had people who couldnt walk for days afterwards lol
Probably with heavy ass rucks too😅🔥
What military? In Finland it is or at least was 150km marching in the basic training. Don't know if it is biking nowadays
here in Denmark we reached around the 150km aswell, though it was over 4 days
@@Victard man thats like straight across your whole country hahaha

The most steps I ever ran was actually in a single sprint. It was like 125,000 steps. My girlfriend called me and told me that her parents aren't home for the weekend. We have a long-distance relationship

I got to give it to you, this man does some crazy challenges, but often the most inspiring to make you reach a level you've never done in life. This man really is a game changer. Because of this man, I am losing a lot of weight.
Yes I started walking 12500 steps a day after his 25000 step challenge . l said if he can do that I can do half as much. Been losing 1 to 2 pounds every week since.
Me too i'm doing his routine and i'm getting amazing results
Same honestly!
The thing i like the most is he actually do it no fake shit
Because of this man, I’m watching a lot more RUclips challenges these days...
65,219 steps in one day. That’s my record. I was doing a week-long step challenge with my sister-she was way ahead of me on the last day and I just couldn’t let her win 😂 I could hardly walk up the stairs to go to bed, but I slept well because… well, I won!! And I was just fine the next day, so it was SO worth it.
What are you doing, step challenge? 😮
Yes. I’m a little… competitive.
I don’t think this is what they meant by social distancing will.
Goat Medic hahahahaha wow
Don't worry it works.
With whom he met during walk? Walking is ok, a gathering is not
Mr.Diamond . what a nice thing to say . Encouraging words . Taking time to tell this young man you are proud of him . So much nicer then some ego maniac trying to break someone down . Sir I am proud of you
This is the best way to social distance. It's not sitting around at home getting fat
I've noticed that when I added walking into my routine I've started to feel more energized, calm, and I'm burning fat faster. Working out is great but our bodies are definitely made to walk. Throw walking into your workout routine for elite gains
Walking is good but rest is even more important.
Listen to your body..If there is pain, wait until it’s fully recovered before attempting to walk again.
@Jackson Brown underated comment
I agree I started a program that cut out my walking routine and I definitely feel not as good as before when I was walking. This is really inspiring to wanna get back to it regardless of the programs.
boi all you do is sleep
I do enough walking at work, No thanks.
Most I ever walked was 40,000 steps when I was in Rome. I basically avoided taking the train for an entire day and walked all over the city. It was pretty amazing to be honest.
Rome was also my most ever steps, but far less than you. I did something like 25k for 3 days straight.
I did the same in Stockholm for my two days there. Great experience
Just did the 100k step challenge yesterday. It took me 22 hours and was the hardest thing I have ever done. I can't walk today lol. Thanks for the inspiration Will.
Thinkin about doing it, you got any tips?
Start really early and consider some treadmill time. Most importantly, pick up some really good walking shoes.

In Belgium they organize 'de dodentocht' every year. Roughly translated to death walk. It's 100km. You start at 20:00 and you have to finish before 20:00 the next day. So basically 100km in 24 hours.
About 60 to 70% of competitors finish. The finish line opens at 07:00, that's 11 hours after the start. By then a lot of runners are there, waiting for the finish line to open.
It's crazy, really.
(100km is 62.14 miles, you weirdos)

Everyone: Let's quarantine and stay at home indefinitely
Will: Imma walk 100k steps!
I'm not trying to argue but to get information. It was my belief that the problem is being around people, not being outside. I know they DO advise against going to gyms and instead working out at home. But I don't think walking outside is an issue.

The amount of Pokémon eggs this man can hatch with this many steps... holy
I've actually taken 100,000 steps in one day. You just get used to it! Last summer I did 1.8million steps over 1 month as a part of a pilgrimage I did in Japan. For over a month I averaged 60k steps a day! It's amazing what you can see wandering 12 hours a day. For those interested, the pilgrimage is called the Shikoku Pilgrimage and a few hundred people complete the loop every year (most are retired grandmas or grandpas covering 30km a day).
Awesome man! I wanna do the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage and I've got a new one thanks to you! Did your legs get fried?
@@santiago_meneghetti I wouldn't say they got fried. Blood blisters but you get used to them too! The Santiago routes tend to be flatter I think and people do a leisurely 25km ish a day so it's a much more touristy kind of thing!
Shin Tanaka that’s amazing I just started walking and I’m averaging about 20, 000 a day.
Keep it up💪💪

Will, I found you on RUclips recommended about three months ago. Your channel inspired me to get to work. I’m down 20lbs and I’m simultaneously leaner and stronger than I’ve ever been. I’ve showed all my fitness friends your videos. I get so excited when you upload. Thank you so much!
Zachary Stein nice job!!
Way to go Will! I’ve been hiking casually for some time now and walked 37 miles (80,000 steps) in one day a few years back. It took my legs about a week to recover. Never mind the blisters. I didn’t even really have a goal in mind, I just kept walking. I think you’ve got me convinced to try for a full 100,000.

The most steps I ever took in one day that I actually counted was about 31k steps and when I laid down to sleep that night, my feet throbbed, my back hurt, my legs hurt (lot of stair climbing that day but I didn't count the flights). I retired from the military and very early in my career I'd go on 7 mile runs in the morning and 4-5 mile runs in the evening so I may have surpassed that total on one of those days but had no pedometer to keep track. On the day I did 31k steps, I wasn't in decent shape, I was old enough (even then) to be your Dad, I have two herniated discs in my lower back and exertional compartment syndrome in my right leg so... walking, running and climbing stairs are always a (major) pain for me. I'm proud as hell of you for doing this. There comes a point where challeneges of any sort become a battle of wills between you and yourself, and I know that battle started early in the day for you. You won, and you should be damn proud! Thank you for making this video.

Here in Latvia we have an event each year called "Kolka-Dubulti" which is like a 117km (72 miles) walk along the coast of the Baltic sea over the period of about 36 hours. I walked the Camino (Spain) 600 km's in a month. You have to get your feet ready for such a walk, hardened underneath, used to the shoes (hiking boots are best for support and ankle protection) and I always wore two pairs of socks so that I didn't get blisters or tear up my feet. Yes it's good to meet challengers, but meet them prepared. Any older and you could have done a lot of damage to your body.

I knocked out 40,000 pretty easily in the morning by walking all the way down Manhattan and all the way back up (I live in morningside heights if anyone knows). Then I got another 20,000 in by walking with different people but then I started to seriously hurt and took an hour break. I then got my covid booster and set out again. I got another 15,000 and presented a paper at a research group meeting. So im at 75,000 around 6:30 pm. I set out again and walk for the next 5 hours. It was at that 80,000 mark when I really just struggled getting a few more steps in. I also ran out of people to walk with since it was late at night so I was just wondering alone for hours in agony LOL but I hit the goal and spent the next day in pain
I was forced into kumon. Can confirm I was a direct reflection of that depressed faced
They Ku Mon me
They put me in Kumon
@@damperemu4445 same :(
13:12 I just started dying over the thought of this dude walking in circles in his living room to reach his step goal
Well, that's a spirit
Lmao ive done this a few times
This video of yours inspired me to get my first 50k steps yesterday! It wasn’t easy at all and I think its the day after the challenge that is probably the worst! I cannot imagine walking 100k! But maybe one day.
Will: I am never having a protein bar again. Also Will: 2:19
I love and enjoy these types of challenges and the way you documented your experience was so entertaining! Your commentary was hilarious!!
I completed 55,000 steps earlier this week, after doing 40,000 steps 2 days prior. I ended up walking 100 miles in 7 days. 100k steps in 1 day is a LOT.
Most I've done in a day was 40,000 steps a few years ago at the Grand canyon. 👍🏼 100,000 is crazy!!!
Dude even makes walking entertaining 😂 Addicted to his videos
Mate I am a meter reader in Melbourne Australia and I walk minimum 25k but on average 30-35 steps a day Monday to Friday from 7am - 1:30-3:30pm depending on how long the route is.
100-160k a week in steps just from work. Not including park with the dog, shopping & just life things.
Keep up the hard work.
The “runners knot” may have prevented the rubbing on your heel. You use the second eyelet on the top to make a loop. This tightens up the heel area and prevents slipping.
Ayeee Kumon was the first place I ever worked at haha! I’ve always had the same question when I was getting tutored and when I was the tutor. Awesome vid as always Will!
I train without socks to help toughen up my feet. Common to have blood streaks on the heels of my new shoes I’m breaking in. Awesome to see this content demonstrating how small adaptations can improve our livelihoods and increase longevity!
walked for about 5.5 miles today in about 1.5h. Dude I cant even imagine walking about 86km jesus big respect for you.
I own a lawncare buisness and I love walking so i use the walk behind mower. I get about 40k steps 4-5 days a week haha. It gets easier. Love the videos man, keep this shit coming
Impressive! I really enjoyed this video. Love all your stuff btw
I would love to see you collab with Yes Theory
Great job!!! The closest I came to was about 70kms after I became lost in the mountains....never again!!
Omg
