For anyone wondering: The rolly polly move hits a player and knocks them down, or otherwise puts them in a stagger animation with extra invincibility frames so that the Ashen One is not hit with multiple instances of damage from one attack. Bosses do not have this stagger/knockdown state which allows for the rolly polly to register as a successful hit at every opportunity, for as long as buddy keeps on rolling.
I was sort of figuring from the way that the fights against what I presume to be player-model bosses seemed so much slower and just how absurdly glass-cannon they seemed to be.
This is also why they shred on certain mods that add poise to the player

Yeah, for that reason, Champion's Gravetender, Sister Friede and the Halflight Spear of the Church were capable to withstand better the damage of the Rock lizards than the other bosses, as they behaves more similar to the NPCs, that have the same knocked down animation like the Ashen One.

This is the Dark Souls equivalent of "there's an immortal snail chasing you, and when it touches you, you die."

You mean this happens in the game too? I have been dodging immortal snails everyday since I was 6.

@@alfasolmega4458 Midir's lasers have a direct hitbox as well as an explosion that follows. Does super high poise dmg and pretty much melts just about every boss other than Aldrich and Gael (both have super high dark resistance) to shreds. The only time Placidusax does high dmg is to another large target boss if it is directly in front of him. Otherwise it just does a chunk of its HP at most and guardbreaks them.
Only losing to three gimmick bosses and Midir is a really good run. Congrats to the rolly bois.

@@-AyashiSenpai- There is no fall damage from that drop. They were doomed against Greatwood because it cannot be damaged outside its weak points, some of which would be unreachable for them.
@@filnecati7674 the enemies that appear in the boss fight die when the ground shatters, that demonstrates that in fact (at least for anything that's not the player) there is fall damage in the arena, there's also that big hand that appears in the second phase, that hand doesn't break in any amount of hits, you are very wrong

@@filnecati7674the hand in phase 2 can damage the boss. But like others said the fall dmg is designed to kill everyone but the player In the phase 2 transition.

Yhorm’s massive HP is what made him a beast in BvE or BvB battles
Midir with the flashy finisher. The dragon really went in for style points
Yhorm got lucky with their moves. Most of them barely rolled and kept fire breathing and doing headbutts.

I don't remember the rock lizards doing that much damage. They're annoying and it's probably a death sentence if you get stuck in a corner and they roll you to death. However, I survived getting rolled by them a couple of times. These bosses are melting away.
I think it’s a mix of the fact that they’re late game enemies (early bosses don’t stand a chance) and that the bosses don’t get invincibility frames from getting rolled into like the player does.
Like the fat Godskin of eldenring, his rotation is also multi-stage damage

Yeah it's a good time to breath some poison onto her. If you saturate her, you can see where she is when she turns invisible because the poison doesn't turn invisible. You can see a purple cloud floating around.

Something about the pilgrim butterflies chugging as the game attempts to render them and the lizards at the same time is pure comedy. I know, it's the engine prioritizing enemies over area effects but still!
