Jimmy is the only rally driver in existence who talks more than his co-driver during a stage.
😂😂😂
He and @Billiecherokie
Dayuum
Hahaha
🤣
Just to confirm, when the Astra lost its door Jimmy wasn't mishearing, the audio does change depending on if you have an open door or not.
You guys are trying too hard
Best game made by EA it looks like in a loooong time. Take as much time as you need to clean up bugs before release. I’ll be waiting and preordering soon
Wdym Jimmer, they've had this since 2015 😂
@@elixer4583ea didn’t make this, codemasters did
thank you EASPORTSWRC, very cool
When the door came off and you could hear the muffling come off the engine sound, that sold it. Sound design in rally games is so important. That's so rad.
was that actually true?
@@alsa4realif you are talking about the sound changing from muffled like most cockpit views in the DiRT Rally games, yes. I could tell once that door flew off the sound design went from standard interior view sound of just hearing the transmission whine with the engine rumble to hearing the exterior engine noise.
12:37 for the timestamp
... and the car gained a bit of power/weight ratio.
I thought the muffler fell off in sympathy with the door?
If they can get the game to run well without any issues, then this looks like they have hit it out the park. I am so holding thumbs that this is going to be good.
will be added to EA Access within 6 months
Codemasters/EA and game running well at launch, I'll believe it when I see it mate. They always manage to cock something up in the yearly F1 releases
@@KepleroGTThe thing is though, even if they do have issues in the beginning that's 2 huge companies with more than enough resources to fix them and get the game on track. The fact that even in the beginning Jimmy says it's worth the time is huge praise straight off the bat.
@@LIKWIDEA and fixing issues quickly are like so far apart from each other

One major thing I'm missing from Dirt 2.0 is the realistic co-driver. These pace notes sound like they are just spoken in recording studio. In Dirt rally 2.0 they did the recording in real simulator with seat that moves and replicates everything that's happening on the stage. That's why the Dirt rally 2.0 pace notes sound so realistic with the co-driver actually being out of breath and thrown around in the seat etc. while recording.
Ye I agree, that adds a lot of immersion. Odd to see it omitted.
maybe unpopular but i prefer it like that, makes it easier to understand. though if it was an option i could turn off that would be fine
Given how there's many, many more stages then DR2 and that they're all a lot longer as well, the cost of hiring Phil Mills or what have you may have simply been too much.
If only they had an option for players to make their own pace notes or edit them like in RBR.
The co driver is a real life co driver; Jonathan Jackson, navigator yo Meirion Evans from Wales
I don't understand how a multi-million dollar game is not a fully fledged simulator. Modelling the forces can't be that difficult.
I was specifically waiting for your review of this because a) your passion for rally games and b) unbiased review. Makes me very happy to see a positive review!
Even when he's sponsored! (throwback to his reviews of best sims of all time ranking. He called gt7 simcade... Even though he works for gt and does race commentary for them)
tbh I'm not convinced yet, tarmac feels cool but I need to see dirt and mud yet
unbiased reviews? Nahhhh
"unbiased review"
what?@@donovang6911
Love me some kitcar action - they're very similar to the Super Touring cars, only with mudflaps, and it takes me back to a combination of V-Rally 2 and the old British Rally Championship season reviews.
And using shorter wheelbase models, but yes, I am actually so happy that they've got a decent roster of kit cars and S1600 cars in this game; true driver's classes, especially on tarmac stages
@@solitaryclusterofneurons598what about S2000 Cars?
Worth mentioning: The Astra is quite popular in South America as it was manufactured in Brazil and sold throughout the continent with the Chevrolet label.
Always pleased to see these kind of cars being featured in racing games.
Here in the UK astra’s were common place police cars featured very heavily in a show called the Bill.
The Astra also exists in Australia under the 'Holden' brand.
In Europe it was known as the Opel Astra. All GM owned brands
@@RotteTrollEven America got the Astra for a brief moment (RIP Saturn, even if your last incarnation was a shell of it's former self)

The f2 class having the cars from the Mobil1 Rally Championship 2000 game! My childhood.
That's the main thing drawing me to this game tbh. :D
My first ever videogame on the ps2 ❤
The Puma, Astra and Seat were my main choices through the career, super stoked that they're all back for a reunion
Great to finally have good news about a new racing game coming out. Seems like there’s been a lot of doom and gloom in sim racing lately, and for good reason with the Motorsport Games issues, Rennsport controversy, the disappointment with Forza Motorsport and everything else happening. Nice to know that at least someone’s doing something right still. Apart from taking an honest look at this, it was nice to see Jimmy genuinely having fun in a new game. I feel like it’s been a minute since that’s happened properly.
It's been a long time haha
Amazing like Project CARS 2? DEFINITELY!
@@purwantiallan5089 ?? How is this relevant
Both CEOs and marketers of Forza Motorsports and Rennsport have promised perfect earth and moon by this date and neither have delivered. Beware both. Tronald Dumpian liars with forked tongues. Wait patiently and observe their economic model closely until you can confirm their economical model won't double cross you. I can't confirm the economical model of either yet, and won't invest until I'm comfortable my money will be well spent.
Respect to Jimmy for having a 15 minute limit but still including his patrons in the outro.
Agree.
Great introduction! I'm looking forward for more critical review about traction on different surfaces and also thoughts about where it feels realistic to you and what parts are not sim-like.
For me EA SPORTS WRC is 10/10 like Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.
So glad we actually get a Dirt Rally 3.0… this is the most exited I’ve been in years for a release. At first I was thinking “it’s just another WRC”.. but now I know how wrong I was. It’s going to be EPIC
@@Zawisza_Czarny That should not even be a concern. Engine gives developers tools to work with, however physics everything else it done by the game devs for the game itself. Nothing to worry about.
I think this has good bits from WRC games too tied into Dirt Rally game.
@@Zawisza_Czarny Which engine are they using for this if not EGO? Did they inherit the WRC engine?

Oh my god, I am so happy to see those F2 kit cars in a modern rally game! Brings back the nostalgia of Rally 2000 - that Ibiza was the cover car for that game IIRC.
That car was in dr2.0 was it not?
@@MrSirGiuseppeThe Ibiza, yes. The Astra, no. There were only 3 Kit Cars in DR2.0:
VW Golf MK4

I'm delighted to see there will be VR post launch. My sim is VR only due to space concerns, and I've been wishing for the WRC games to have it for years.
I was just about to ask about VR support. I'm in the same boat being VR racing only. Hopefully, it won't them to long to add it.
Same for me, do hope they improve the performance though, I know it is still preview, but if performance is not perfect on flatscreen, you can forget about VR.
Vr only rigs are so common now that it needs to be a standard option especially on pc
Feel sad for not having in the PS5 as we had for dirt rally one.
I'd be delighted if it was in at launch. I'm glad we are getting it post-launch though. But Unreal engine is not known for having particularly good VR support. There are certain parts of the post-processing pipline that don't tend to play nice with VR (the effects just flat out don't work the same on a flat-screen as they do in VR and they can end up having a really detrimental effect on VR image quality). Hopefully the VR mode is quality and isn't just phoned in. Hopefully they don't absolutely nuke the graphical settings either with no option to not have that happen the way that things are in the VR modes for Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0.
Causiously optimistic based on the feedback the core game has been getting. But it will be the VR mode and its quality which determines whether I buy the game or not. I'm not going to buy the game before the VR mode comes out. Talk is cheap, they have to actually release a quality VR mode first. Not just say that they are doing one.
good my azz, it's lagging like hell
This game sucks, but Jimmy gets bucks.
6:15 Outside the UK, Vauxhall is Opel vauxhall Astra= Opel Astra
Love this, hugely exciting as we know your rally passion. I am soooo looking forward to your full rally campaign videos in time. Absolutely buzzing watching this
god, I missed your rally content. it's what really hooked me to your channel in the first place, and then everything else just kept me coming back for more. IT'S RALLY BABYYYYYYY
Yes Jimmer! If we get a thumbs up for improvement on the tarmac physics from you then we know they have done well 😀👌 I can't wait for this long. Awesome video and I can't wait to see the rest of your preview videos!
Excellent! Good to see the stages have some decent length to them too. The sound is excellent I love that I'd got louder when the door fell off.
Fond memories of that Astra and Neil Wearden behind the wheel. My true rally infatuation days... So nice of them to include this in the game!
It makes me happy to see you SO happy playing this game, and I'm definitely getting it asap. Now, two questions: 1) What does Stephen J. Bailey think about it? And 2) stream on release? Thanks a lot for the great video, Jimmer!
The sense of speed seems really good in the video, idk if thats because of the dense foliage or what but I like it
True. I think the narrow road helps too.
@@Phade91Thats the biggest factor. Compare it with real life. Think about driving 130 km/h on a Autobahn/Highway vs 130 in a one-lane city.
Sense of speed is especially great in VR.
I can tell you there definitely is a passion for rallying at Codemasters. I used to work there and they had a rally prepped Impreza in the warehouse which the designers used to take rallying so they could properly experience it
Amazing, been waiting for you to get hold of this title. Rally is by far my favourite displine to drive in my rig. Loved the Dirt games but have been very much on the fence with the build up to this title. Now I'm stoked! Can't wait to have a go 👌
Looking forward to the next one jimmer 👍
That enthusiasm sums up my feelings nicely, looks like 5 years very well spent by the gals and guys in Southam. 600km of this sort of goodness is crazy good and such a nice first version for the next five years.
To be honest, the driving part really excites me - can't wait to get stuck into it - but the game itself doesn't; career looks a bit of a mess to me at the moment - but the important part is the in-stage driving. I would have been happy enough with DR2 with new, longer stages but looks like a huge step forward. Only concern for me now is optimisation, seeing as I have a very mid-range rig and seeing all these supercomputers stuggle to get consistent frames worries me somewhat.
You can tell, that it’s kinda pulling that good feeling out ! That’s a big one for games 👌🏾
Nice run Jimmy !! Japan is one of the stages I’m most excited about 😮❤️
So glad this is turning out good. I love DR2.0 and was really hoping they would work on the tarmac physics specifically. Looks like they took care of my main gripe with the game and with it being licensed now we get these real stages to boot.
This looks like a ton of fun. Gonna pop over to the VOD of the livestream to see a longer play!
I'm here to watch the Jimmer rip and tear rally!!!
Game is out and the reviews are horrendous... Clearly you got paid to say all these positive things
You're right, haven't seen any Vauxhall Astras.. because they're called Opel here 😋 They're everywhere in Germany still and kinda considered a basic car. So weird but refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about them
Lol..I had this Opel Astra for about 10 years as a daily, probably the best Astra version they ever produced.
As someone who just starting (or trying) getting into rally i was pumped for this game. Now im even more pumped
Having Jimmer’s blessing is all i was waiting for… we are living amazing times with these games. Can’t wait for VR support to come to this game soon. I will be saying goodbye to my family forever with that.
I also loving this.
Same 😂😂
I will wait to see if they everactually add VR support like they said. I dont have much hope as the claimed tripple monitor support was a lie.
The Biobío Chile rally is in the region where I live, recently it was the world rally. Incredible!
Great to see a new and good rally game. I'm hoping there is VR support for PC. It's the only way I could keep a Group B car somewhat under control in Dirt Rally 2.0
Been waiting for this game to come out, gonna play this everyday once it’s out to the public
I hope so.
Yo!!!!! The Japanese scenery looks awesome!!!! And a thumbs up from Jimmy is very encouraging. Thanks for the video Jimmy!
Ah man I am so hyped now, its so hard to tell how good the game is from the promo videos (that switch back and forth from irl scenes) and totally unbiased opinions from rally drivers that gave feedback (like seriously is the guy on the cover going to say anything bad about it) so really grateful you had the opportunity to try it. (Even though I already pre-ordered it)
i love that all the wrc early access videos have the same title and thumbnail
Car selection looks sick. I wasn't planning on getting this but I might of changed my mind.
So relieved to hear you say it’s good! Let’s go boys! 😁💪🏻
Man I'm hyped, I love rally and this looks fun. I wish you showed a gravel stage and a modern wrc car, see how it all feels and handles. I also hope there's enough track variety unlike DR2.
I'm from South america, and I grew up with Mobil 1 Rally championship 2000. Seeing the astra, the escort, the Renault and the golf with the Tapio Laukkanen livery brings back memories of one of the best car rosters of all time and old school rally games for that matter
Finally, a new racing game that actually impresses me in a good way. That's a real change of pace for me lately.
Love to see the first reviews be very positive, can't wait until release!
This isn't a review, this is a preview.
Im so happy to see the absolute AMOUNT of locations and the fact tarmac is so good! I'm SO excited!
This game has been fun during the preview build. Glad to see you're having a blast on it!
I hope there's a "sound alive" option for the co-driver, it kind of takes away from the experience when buddy is so quiet like he's at home drinking a cup of tea
its EA. they will prolly make you buy dlc for that. also they will have to make dlc with better visuals cuz this looks like a huge step back after dr2.0
@@sxdattxbit's a preview build bud, and one that had performance issues.
The graphics settings are probably just set lower in this video.

6:14 my dad has a Corsa, but here in south Africa we know it as Opel not voxol or however you spell it. And they are fairly common, Astras Corsa, even the pick up. The OPC is my personal favourite

Another banger vid Jimmers! Really impressed with all that i've seen so far. Roll onto release day
As someone who go into racing games from watching you but has always been terrible at knowing ANYTHING about not driving like a grandma.
Would be interested to see more / know more about the rally school you mentioned!
After this review, you have lost a lot of credibility in my eyes. I have played the game and it is clearly unfinished. Yes, there is a lot of content but there are lots of bugs with the career mode, the rally school is super sparse, and the performance on pc is horrendous. The game is clearly unfinished.
Oh NO, did he lose credibility in YOUR eyes? Oh wow, that must be so devastating to him. You're such an important, knowledgeable guy, it must be such a career killer for anyone who loses credibility in YOUR eyes. Oh, dear me, I hope Jimmy can recover one day from such a massive blow to his reputation and career.
Just copped it recently after all bug fixes, and it’s by far the best rally game out there. And you gotta remember jimmy is playing on a beast of a pc so it’s gonna run smoother than the average person. I play on Xbox series S on 1080p and it’s sick.
As a gravel specialist, even the dirt rally games miss a little bit of the bite into the dirt when you brake while turning, waiting to see if they improve that here
You know it’s a game they will never have it 100% like real 😆
@@tonymunford5804 I agree, but sometimes it feels equivalent to trail braking not working, it's the way to make little front wheel drive boxes turn

i was worried about tarmac physics, but im glad to hear thats improved a ton
Im waiting for this so much! Wish I had this kinda possibility to try it early 😅 Thank you for showing it to us early!
Quick question - you said its not a full simulator? But what would be for that comparison? Would it be Richard burns Rally? If yes then whats the primary differences between this and that, and what is exactly missing from this to make it a full fat rally simulator?
For me the biggest thing in RBR that I haven't seen pretty much anywhere else apart from circuit racing sims is how you can chuck the car into a corner at the edge of grip and how you can feel the tires bite into the tarmac when you power through the corner. It's a really cool feeling because you have so much grip right before (or after) the tires slip.
I have seen people online say that it's over exaggerated in RBR, and that real rally cars don't quite feel as on-off in terms of lateral grip on tarmac, but honestly when I do the same thing on circuit in iRacing or Assetto Corsa Competizione I can feel the same effect, so I don't know. I remember Race 07 doing the same thing back in the day, but my wheel sucked so I don't.
NPG7 rules above all
It's probably comparable to Gran Turismo/Forza Motorsport but rally, simcade. There isn't really any real sim rally game, RBR is the best you're gonna get but it's not polished. There's a lot of bad stuff in RBR too. Personally I prefer Dirt Rally over RBR.
This game is made by codemasters, so the same guys behind the Dirt series. So it's either similar to Dirt Rally or something in between Dirt Rally and the arcade Dirt games.
@@rafox66Apparently they ported the Dirt Rally 2 physics engine to Unreal Engine and improved it considerably.
@@thebaffman4898 That sounds good, I hope it will be like that.

Hello Jimmy, how is it possible that you recommend this game??? On every platform it’s technically a complete train wreck.
Really happy to hear that you liked the game. Was waiting for it for a while.
Last WRC game I played was WRC10 and this looks so much less grainy and much more fluid, I do enjoy WRC10 but excited for this!!
Either you're bought and paid, or you got another game than the rest of us.
Game is unfinished piece of garbage like almost every other product EA discharges on the market. Huge letdown in my opinion 👎
Cheers Jamble, been right into RBR and SRM this year thanks to you and Jake (favorit or bust). Can't wait to give this a try 🙏🙏🙏
Love seeing you genuinely excited about a new game Jimmer
It’s not good. It’s a broken game. Don’t listen to Jimmy. He’s been paid by EA.
I'm so relieved to hear you being positive about the driving feeling in this. I was a bit worried EA was going to look at Dirt Rally 2.0 and basically want a more casual focused version of that for this WRC game. Now let's hope they will deliver a good VR implementation later on with some actual performance optimization.
I'd deal with simaddiction
I've had the privilege of getting a ride along in one of those F2 Astra's and yeah, pretty spot on. You make a strong case for picking this one up.

Awesome video as usual Jimmer 🙌
It looks really fun and might actually have to delve in myself and get a feel for it. Keep up the great work my dude 😎👍
It’s not that great. Collision is garbage, car pivots on center and it’s got terrible frame dips that cause instant collision. How much is EA paying you?
so all the people saying it was bad before seeing gameplay in comments are wrong? no way!
in all seriousness, this game looks amazing, i cant wait to play this
6:30 You hit the nail on the head regarding the car selection. When was the last time you saw a licensed Mk. 4 Golf Kit Car in a game? Or a 309? Or a freaking Chrysler Avenger?!
Yes, there are still some glaring omissions (the Rally 1 Yaris being the only Toyota likely chief among them), but if the base game has that many deep cuts, imagine what they're saving for DLC...
Hey Jimmer, how's the overall grip? From other reviews I've heard that there is a lot of grip on both gravel and asphalt, did you feel the same?
Dirt Rally 2.0 looks and plays better! Which is actually a shame.
The rain is superior, the track detail, weather effects and skylines of Dirt Rally 2.0 all put EA’s latest effort to shame.
The stages in 2023 are long but barren and quite boring. The tracks in 2.0 and even Generations were way more interesting and fun than these (a.i. generated?!) tracks.
The sad state of gaming in 23: new games are “sold” to us as gold but are turds compared to previous incarnations (even on lesser hardware)!
Totally agree. After playing the 5 hour trial a diving back into Dirt Rally 2.0, it looks way better than this and that game is 5 years old and last gen, wtf is going on.
im in the minority here where looking at this it looks even more arcade than dirt rally 2. you are going fast, with loads of traction, no traction loss or wheel spin to make corrections for, or that are uncorrectable. when he messes up a corner he doesnt even crash. no consequences. tarmac should have heaps of consequences because you are going faster, so when you do lose that traction you are outta there.
that being said of course dirt rally had very unrealistic tarmac, sliding everywhere. but at least it had consequences.
I never thought that we'll see a modern version of the Mobil 1 Rally Championship
Jesus, you got me with the CMR3 footage!
How much you got paid to say this ?
Honestly SHAME ON YOU for shilling so hard for this game.
Looks great graphically. And The tarmac didn’t seem like you were on gravel. You seemed to actually lean into corners a bit. Sick.
Just love that you picked the Astra F2 Kit Car!!! Cant wait for this!!
Yep. Exactly as expected - EA has made Codemasters dumbed down the physics and it is now an arcade rally game🙄
