Not only did Jimmy do the longest WRC stage, but he did it with inverted steering. Truly the greatest sim-racer of our generation.
😂😂
You should try that once.. I did, Group C cars at Sebring. It rarely went well.. and when you think you can do it, you have a moment and you instinctively apply opposite-opposite lock, ending your day quick!
@@NielsHeusinkveldI did similar but I swapped the brake and throttle pedals 😂
@@NielsHeusinkveldi also done 700 laps on that
@@ninjachub5427me and Coco Hayashi have done this longest stage in EA SPORTS WRC. Man its such an amazing game like Colin McRae Rally 1 to 04!
The hybrid regen is as per real life.
The driver has no real control over it other than being able to tweak the delivery severity pre stage. The regen is only done at 100% braking power and as soon as itje battery reaches 100% it's deployed at once. As soon as you lift off the throttle the battery resets to zero and you start charging again regardless of how much you use.
It's been a real education for the drivers this last few years when it comes to getting the heat out of the system.
The drivers can lift, but they can't tap the brake once it's deployed. That's the reset to zero.
Thanks for that, i did not know!
@@dereklatshaw3017the Regen feature in EA SPORTS WRC is such a welcome touch.
@@purwantiallan5089 it is, but they had to include it to be realistic and WRC Generations had it as well. It was one of the features I thought they did a good job of in that game. I’ll admit I’ve since switched back to DR2.0 in anticipation of this game.
That is baffling. I don’t understand why it would work this way??
I hope this game can bring new fans to rally and the WRC, they need support and new manufacturers.
They need to televise it in the west. I would watch it if were on tv. I’m not paying for WRC+
@@ryanmorrison3699 in Germany and austria is broadcast by Servus TV , not all stages but some
@@ryanmorrison3699I'm from Chile, and I remember WRC+ being at a discount towards the end of the season, but this year, you still have to pay for a full year. Did not pay to see my country roads.
@@ryanmorrison3699more exposure would be good for the sport. So even getting some of the stages or the recap on more networks would be good. I'm in Australia so we only have an option of the streaming service stan with some of the stages or the very expensive WRC+/rallytv sub. I use the rallytv. Being able to watch every stage live is bloody cool though. I'd say it's still too expensive but if you do have the chance to watch 90% of the rally's live each time they are on it's worth it
@@ryanmorrison3699u need like $30 for watching those WRC+ videos.
How cool to see Jimmy running through my lands. I live just 40 minutes from those circuits. Greetings from Chile.
Mándame una poleras del Rally Chile washooo! Saludos!
VAMOS!
I'm almost certain that hybrid is realistic in the game. If you have full charge you're deploying it depending of the battery setting. If you press brake when you're on, let's say half of charge, it resets. It was exactly like that in KT's WRC Generations and I observe it watching onboards during rallies.
However it ends up working in the release version, I really hope they explain it in a tutorial or something. Just to explicitly say what the rules of it are.
Is there a technical reason why the energy deploy works that way, unlike the normal deploy like the hypercars or F1
@@sarimsalman2698Car slows down, car wants to speed up. It worked well in WRC Generations in my opinion. I wouldn't want this to be a button.
@@sarimsalman2698my guess would be that you probably dont want a random shift from 380 to 500+ hp in the middle of a corner
Im not so sure about that, it seems to me that the drivers get hybrid out of most corners, to me it seems its dependent on throttle position, gear and RPM, and it can be changed, sometimes you have hybrid only in like 2nd and 3rd, sometimes also in 4th. I havent noticed that it has separate regen and boost modes, it always regens on brake and as long as youre not out it also always boosts on acceleration. Right now it seems to not really work, if you brake even a little mid corner you instantly lose boost which seems weird to me
Jimmy definitely loves this game
Thats a good thing 🎉
@@oneandonlyfirestorm44We all will love it ! Garaanted👌

If I was to shift my fanatec h pattern shifter like that it would stop working within a week lol. On a serious note I’m very happy they added cutting penalties to this game. Dirt Rally 2.0 leaderboards were littered with major sections being cut and it was annoying
5 minutes stages done in 3 minutes... It was so annoying.
I have a feeling those same people will find ridiculous cuts in this game as well, it'll just be a case of "is does this cut make up more time than the penalty costs?" We'll have to see I guess
You need a rock solid sequential shifter for this game
@@Katastra_ Funny thing is some games encourage cuts too. Games like Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi survivor where people do speed runs. Jedi survivor should take about about 19-20 hours if done on easiest game mode, but the speed run record is I think about 28 minutes. Makers knew the exploits that were used to do same in Fallen Order but left it so you could do same in the second one. So what's annoying in one type of game is fun for others in other types.
It's still annoying but I can live with it, you must ignore the first 10 places 😀 but yea, I don't understand why they do it.
Imagine WRC would've kept the late 90's and early 00's regulations, where they didn't give a damn abt the time of day, length of stages, the weather. That was true gold, and I think the game would be EVEN MORE fun then it is now. (and that would be a damn lot)
Yeah I think they should have proper night rallies at least one stage per rally.
It's a slight shame though because as far as I know it was those regs that Citroen weaponized to make Seb Loeb the legend he is
@@joeogle7729 Sadly that is the thing. But still, those were insane regs, like group b with some actual safety.
They don't care about weather, they always drive no matter the weather conditions. and night stages are not completely gone either
Yes but you barely ever see bad weather anymore, maybe 1 in 4 rallies, and night stages are so rare if you don't include sss-stages.
He's out there doing the longest stage, and I'm like, bro, Chile-
Take your like and get out
Oh for crying out loud
So happy to see the WRC license in the hands of Codies. Making good use of that EA funding, I just hope EA doesn't ruin it. So far so good.
EA + Codemasters hopefully never ruin them.
this comment didnt age well
@@xXRunDeathXxwhat happened?
I wanted to say this in the first video already, but since you made the comparison too, seeing this game somehow REALLY reminds me of the golden days of Colin Mcrae Rally. I am now really excited for this game as it really looks a the perfect game to relive my childhood memories of playing hundreds and hundreds of hours of those games with my family. Your excitement is contagious!
Always good to hear Nicky Grist's voice as co-driver. Codies/EA it would be nice to have an event in the game that pays homage to its roots, with various stages featuring Colin McRae's cars over the years. Focus, Impreza, Legacy, Sierra, maybe even the Sunbeam.
Fun facts - longest rally stages in video games:
1 - 58,92 kilometers - Pundershaw from 1996 Network Q RAC Rally Championship,
2 - 42,82 kilometers - also Pundershaw, but from 1999 Mobil 1 Rally Championship
admittedly the graphics in RC where kinda bad, the map looked almost the same for kilometers 😂
Here Codemastera made a fantastic job, I have seen footage of this stage and they absolutely nailed the lighting and vibe
@@miguelelgueta5830 hey dude :), these are 1996 and 1999 games from, at the time, much smaller studio than Codemasters. And the stage, as in real life, goes entirely on gravel roads through the Kielder Forest, so tell me, how would you spiced up entirely foresty stage? :)
Mind you, in 1999 RC there are also stages going through multiple villages, on very narrow tarmac and gravel roads, between houses, hedges, fances, gardens... RC also had very diverse environments.
At least Magnetic Fields tried to do something interesting, by recreating real UK rally stages 25 years ago. Where they really failed, was the trashy driving physics and horrible engine sounds, rest was pretty much ok.
This looks like so much fun. And imagine with one of the slower cars, this stage would take way over 30 minutes! I can't wait to jump into one of these Rally1 machines myself!
For me the best type of rally game is sim enough to give me the right sounds and as close to a decent real feeling of what the car is doing, while being game enough to be less harsh and unforgiving as a real car/rally is. It's just more entertaining and less frustrating. Sim racing on a track is a little more forgiving of mistakes always causing race over than a rally is.
agreed. this seems to strike the perfect balance that DR2.0 had as well
For me, crashing out in rally sucks because you don't get to see the rest of the stage! At least on a circuit you know you'll see the whole thing lol.
@@8thlvlMage unless you crash on the first lap lololol
Absolute quality not been this hyped for a game in so long thanks for all the coverage it's been fantastic 👌
The draw distance makes a massive difference, it looks more of a ‘world’ rather than just a narrow corridor we’ve been used to.
I’m looking forward to it
Thank you Jimmy, watching you havin' a ton of fun with this just gets me more hyped then i already was.
Great driving, Jimmy!
I love that stage. Can't wait to conquer that myself.
It really looks decent WRC game/sim.
What you were saying about it being more like a game and less like a sim is exactly what I'm after. iRacing and stuff leads me to be burnt out on simracing because it's stress most the time I'm on it. The new Forza and hopefully this really seem to find the nice middle ground where it drives like a sim but is more forgiving on the realism.
This game and the videos you've been making have been AWESOME Jimmer! Keep it up!
This looks like genuine fun! I might pick it up and see how it is on a gamepad.
Should be pretty fun on that too. DR2 sure can be and this should be even better.
I wish it had motion steering like gran turismo
Will be doing the same, DR2.0 is great with a gamepad.
@@santiagoamado9056and also Ultra Motion sensitive steering input.
@@loukas371EA SPORTS WRC is way better than both DiRT RALLY games and CMR04.
I've been looking forward to this third video lol this game looks incredible 👏
I'd love to see how fast this stage will be in the slowest car when the game releases.
I'm gonna need to spend a good chunk of change on a trip for my wife so I have enough time to really enjoy this game at the end of the month.
It's a bit early I know, but here's some features that would be nice to see in the next WRC, or maybe as updates to this game 😁 : Recce, cross fitting tyres, driving from one stage to another, dynamic weather, more interactive pacenotes (like in DR 2.0).
Features not even RBR had!
Love you , Jimmy. I appreciate your enthusiasm and engagement. Keep going, dude. 🎉
The sense of speed in this game looks second to none! So excited to give this a try
Glad to see more gameplay Jimmy thank you!
The intro… That Colin McRae 3 soundtrack is a masterpiece ❤
9:37 Rally is the reason I got into sim-racing and is still by far my favourite games to play. I do enjoy occasional tarmac-track racers but nothing engages me quite like rally.
I don’t know if anyone else has done this but watching a Dirt replay on RUclips with the pace notes, and turning on closed captions is possibly the funniest thing ever. Seriously try it if you haven’t.
hey jimmy. havent watched the whole video yet but on the topic of the hybrid boost, codemasters got alot of insight of how it works from M-sport Ford i think if i remembered correctly, and i think that is how they work irl.
Great run, Jimmer, right up to the final kilometre but it's so fun to do and it's a proper workout as well.
By the way, you should've gone into championship solo mode and selected the same stage but with max degradation.
It just adds a whole new layer to it with those ruts and difference in grip those provide compared to the loose gravel out of them.
There are other effects as well the max degradation adds on top of that.
Sounds like a job for your channel! BTW there is growing controversy now about physics with this game, will be interesting to hear your take on grip levels, pivot (or not) handling, etc on gravel.
@@Jcushing5 My final video will be one with max degradation.
There is indeed growing controversy but that's mainly because people oversimplify things way too much. It's on a central pivoting point and nothing else for most of them. There is far more to it than just that and there are reasons why the the central pivot point element is one of the aspects used to design the physics. If I can keep my discussion section of the video short enough so the whole video (including gameplay) stays under 15 minutes then I'll include it. That's the limited length of each preview build videos we need to keep ourselves to in most cases. Very long stages or streams are different of course. If it's not possible I'll leave it for one my post-launch videos.
I really like the feature in Dirt 2.0 of driving up to the Marshall at the end of the stage, just gives that realistic feel so you cant just fang it over the line sideways into a cut scene
Jimmy, If you haven’t already planed on doing it, please do a career mode play through. That shit would be dope
From my understanding of the regen
it will utilize once you rbring your throttle open past a certain point (its what the bar on the outside left of the tack is represetning. How far the pedal has to push to activate ((the lightning bolt))) once on. it will not STOP unless you completely lift off throttle (which maybe wrong) or hit the brakes. Once either of those has been detected you loose the remaining boost.
Boost is generated under heavy braking.
Got a new wheel friday and got it sorted out yesterday. Now watching these videos made me pre-order this though I´d like a full sim like RBR, but this really looks good and sounds like fun according to almost everybody who have had the chance to pre-view it.
the willburger reference was based af, give your editor a raise!!
To give you an idea of how long this stage is, it's the length of an ENTIRE RALLY in one of the older games.
This is a much, much better way to release games. Back in the '90s you saw loads of games before they came out because they were usually available in Japan or the US way before we got them. All it did was build more excitement about when you could play them. It also shows that the devs are confidant and excited about their product. The modern obsession with secrecy just leads anyone savvy to hold off until they've heard about any bugs or issues that so many games release with and maybe wait for a sale when it might finally be finished and patched up (EAFC I'm looking at you...)
Yes.. Anytime you don't see a game right up till launch day you know very well it wasn't finish and they have something to hide. I don't touch any such a game. Case in point Spiderman 2 has been seen and reviewed to.. well rave reviews long before release day. That's exactly how it should be done always.
Thanks again Jimmy, looking forward for this one. Time to upgrade my fanatec belt system to a DD
Much like you, I’ve been waiting desperately for a proper racing “game”. I spent many hours in the pre-EA Codie’s F1 games for that very reason. Glad to see you excited to be sim-racing again!
Wrc 10 has some pretry long stages too, it's my go to right now, just wait for this masterpiece release 🤩
Can't wait till this game comes out and give it a spin, just got into Rally, I was looking for a new Challenge and get a little brake from Traffic and Track driving, just bought Dirt Rally 2.0 and loved it right from the beginning, so rewarding and fun if you manage a highspeed run without any incidents!
Yon should check out "rbr rsf" Richard burns rally - rallysimfans
10:27........that looked cool too hahhaha love this guy
id love to see all the different classes on that stage and see the time differences from modern day to classic group B
7:27 That sounds to me, unfortunately, like Codemasters have stuck with the same thing that bugged me in DR2. It feels like the cars accelerate on the power-curve of the engines, rather than the torque-curve. In-game that means high revs is always king. Which shouldn't necessarily always be true.
In a real car the torque is what pushes you forward. If you stay in the same gear and accelerate through the rev-range the hardest acceleration will occur when the engine is at its peak torque, not peak power. For all intents and purposes here, peak power always occurs at higher revs than peak torque. So by staying in the same gear when the revs drop below peak power, the torque should actually increase and help push the revs back up again. But in DR2, and by the looks of things in the new WRC game too, this isn't the case. Too bad.
Still very much looking forward to playing this though.
You're right about the game comment. I love sim racing games more than any other genre, but I think we forget that having "gamified" aspects to the game can be a great thing! We get too caught up on what is most realistic that we can easily kill the fun for ourselves.
So glad to see you back on rally!
Oh I will love to drive this one. Was incredible fun watching you do it 🙂
Hey Jimmer, I know you probably won't see this, but writing this out feels like it's helping me. I've been watching your videos since the days of the Shed and your videos and content have always made me smile and laugh. I've been going through a hard time right now and they still make me smile and laugh when I have felt like I wasn't capable. Thanks and pls no punterino Jimmer
You got this bro ❤
Thanks, mate! This has made my day if not my week. It's just been some personal stuff I've been going through and adjusting to. I know it just takes time, but your videos have been helping that process a lot.
Your enthusiasm has me so pumped lol
the last game i pre-purchased was no mans sky... your enthusiasm has me almost convinced to make that mistake again
Pretty sure the charged hybrid only engages when you're past 80% throttle. On the left of the HUD gauge is the throttle position indicator and there's a very clear line denoting the hybrid engagement point.
Well, now I am properly excited for this game. As for the hybrid, that is how the system works in real life. Once you hit full regen, it deploys, you can lift or go lighter throttle then, but any tap of the brake resets the system to zero. In a lot of cases you may not want to stay on throttle as long exiting a corner if there is say, a slight kink you can coast through lifting early vs tapping the brake to get through it. That way you'll hve the hybrid exiting that kink as well if that makes sense.
“3x 15 minute videos”. Thanks jimmer 🙏
Bring us more Jimmer!!!
Can't wait for the release 🤩🤩🤩
I can already see the leaderboard maniacs memorizing these massive stages and finding ridiculous shortcuts.
It's my understanding that there are cutting penalties now, so maybe folks will have to keep it honest.
Only had a couple of afternoons with it so far, but love it. Really is dirt 3.0 without the name
I cannot remember being as hyped for a game as I am for this one. This might finally be the game that pushes me to buy a wheel/pedal setup.

Oh man, oh man. That seemed so fun. I cant wait to dip my toes on WRC. Really looks promising. I wish they play with shaders a little bit. Make it prettier. All in all, it has potential.
This game looks so cool!
I did two of those longest stages in a Lancia Delta S4 yesterday. Geez, I strained my right arm. It's awesome tho to have those long stages in game. Gotta be careful all the time :D
Dang it Jimmy you made me pre order this game. Now I'm hyped
Rally is probably the racing genre where you can get the closest to a proper sim and it still be a good, fun, game, because throwing something down a rally stage is just fun. You just have to pick cars that fit your skill level.
Realism and fun have little to do with one another; it's the systems you build around the game that make it fun or not. BeamNG is pretty uncompromising in its realism and nobody can deny it's fun to do literally anything in that game.
Just did a 28:50.859 in the Citroen Xsara. First time I've done the route and on an xbox controller too if that's at all relevant on things like this idk. But I'm pretty happy with that.
"I only listen to the big calls." Yeah I do the same thing only last night I actually tried to listen to all calls and found I was driving too cautiously.
Those new Hybrid Rally Cars are Monsters.
They are ridicilous fast.
I compare the mistakes at the end of the stage to suddenly needing to poop really bad when you pull into your driveway. Your body knows you're almost done and it's time to relax
Hybrid is working as in real life. In order to activate the boost, you need to regen certain amount of energy (controled by 1 regen engine map chosen at service). Then, when you accelerate, the boost aplies automatically (based on 1 boost map chosen at service).
And, depending on the stage, the amount of energy available in those boost depends on the length of the stage. Shorter stages mean more energy available.
looking forward to more WRC content from you hopefully
Now we want you getting on with the definitive device: Jimmy's guitar
Finally codemasters got the wrc licence. This game looks amazing.
