Thats cool, try making the bass a little more stacatto/funky by adding jumps and breaks to it, then have a melody line that follows the bass

the reason the bass sounds weird is probably because it's playing something like a major chord, usually I just do either a 5th interval or +4 semitones on a 2nd oscillator, that makes it sound more nasty and dirty
