- This video is a step-by-step walk-through of what it took to swap out an old failing exhaust manifold with a new cast iron design manifold on a 2014 Range Rover Evoque Dynamic. Hope this video helps others who want to tackle this project.
Apparently, yours is the only video about this which is thoroughly done. Appreciate it
Thanks for the video Jeff. I just completed this over the previous weekend and your video was more than helpful.
Man fantastic job done there and choosing to capture it on video is the real awesome job however i bet it just doubled how hard the job was but really thank you for the effort
Jeff you the man bro. Made it look easy-going. Paid attention to everything of concern. Great video
Thanks alot Jeffix for the great information.
Very well put together demo. Thank You
great video, I got lucky and GM torque was 100 and RR torque was 60 for the exhaust manifold and I think that's the main culprit, replaced gasket while I was at it, and glad I saw the manifold cover was just like mine after removal.
Dear Jeff, can you leave us the link where we can buy this tipe of manifold? Thx a lot for this interesting and helpful video!
Excellent video!
Great video. My turbo failed (not sure if it was the manifold or the cartridge, but it was making noise and low boost). I replaced it with a turbot that had your manifold and a Malett cartridge. I had a lift and raised it and remove the exhaust and driveshaft which gave me plenty of room. But if I did it again I would definitely do some of the work from the top like you did. I had never thought of accessing it from the top. Unfortunately I have a small oil leak on mine. I put dye in the oil and used UV light and i see the oil run down between the clamp and the cartridge. IT runs down then off the bottom of the cartridge. I was thinking the cartridge is bad but I have been told it is very rare for a new cartridge to be bad. I've been told to check the PVC system and the oil return for blockage.
Hey! I’m in the middle of the process of the whole manifold and turbo swap, and have a few questions.
Am I able to use my old turbo with the new parallel exhaust manifold?
2- how much torque did you put on the screws and bolts of the exhaust manifold? Can’t find this info anywhere.
Great video btw! Helped me like 90% of the whole thing
Hi Jeff - Can you share when you purchased the non OEM replacement parts?
Hi there, I was wondering if you had any issues with the cast manifold? I need to change mine as the sheet one has cracked all over the place and I am going to buy the whole assembly off ebay, I just wonder about the quality over the long term of the install. Ross
Thanks for the video! Just finished doing this procedure myself and am very pleased with the results.I know It's been three years, but I'm hoping you can answer a couple of question that I have about the wastegate. Did you adjust the wastegate rod at all? And if so, how was it adjusted? I couldn't figure out the wastegate preload adjustment. I've searched the internet and couldn't find any specs. Thanks.
Sorry for the late reply I did adjust the rod but it was more of experimentation than any thing else. I knew about where it had to be and started going plus or minus a little bit and watching the behavior of the car. Because it's vacuum actuated You're really just delaying it's opening and closing by moving around a little bit.
Sir love the video on turbo manifold replacement. Very informative but I do have a question, where did you buy the exhaust manifold from. I need one, on mine the welds cracked and leaking exhaust. Please let me know. Thank you, Alex
@19:29 pretty sure you can hammer that stripped head out with a steel rod.
Will any part from Ebay work or is that oem.. also by any chance were is the IAC IDLE AIR CONTROL LOCATED. Awesome video thank you
Great job? just bought an evoque with this issue form the dealer as is. they diagnosed bad turbo and cracked manifold. i will change for sure the manifold just want to know how to recognize bad turbo? Many thanks!
Can you list the upgraded cast iron exhaust manifold part number and where you obtained it? Thanks!!
look up turbo parts unlimited in Canada.
It was purchased through ebay. There are many people selling these domestically and overseas both with or without turbos.
@@robertmarcelina3910 I got turbo from them and I think they are just reselling the ones that can be found for $350 on ebay for $1000. It is 1 year and 6000 miles later and leaking where the CHRA joins the manifold.
Sorry if I missed it. Where did you get the manifold from? Awesome video BTW. thank you for posting.
eBay or AliExpress you can find it. Many users gives 5 stars
I am doing this work done on a 2015 Evoque. Just a question: Why didn't you remove the whole thing (turbo) instead of disasambly the turbo's hot side in place? I think it's easier to assambly all out of the car, Am I correct?
Well it's fairly simple I didn't want to deal with the oil lines and potentially stripping any of those and thought that just the v-band clamp and a few hoses was easier
I got a Disco 2017 with 53k. What’s the mileage on your vehicle. Btw great job.
What about the hole on the exhaust manifold that is not on the new one
Not sure which all you're talking about sorry maybe a different model you have
How did you get the heat shield out with the coolant lines still in place?
The heat shield was kind of easy because it's thin and flexible and you can kind of bend it out of the way
@jeffix5831 does your intake filter not get wet when it rains due to the hood vent cutouts? Just curious I'm adding one similar to ur so I was just curious if that has ever happened?
I've never had those problems and I don't have the hood vent cutouts on this model, the original ones didn't provide a lot of venting they were more for show
Do you feel any performance different before and after? Original vs new design. Scale from 0 to 10.
I am quite happier with the new manifold I build boost much faster. Plus, with the open air filter everything works great!
@@jeffix5831 any info on the open air filter?
I have a 2012 evoque and I’m looking at all the 3-400 turbo replacements, they all have 2 pin connectors. Did yours?
all im seeing are two pin connectors. I'm getting ready to do this job for my niece on her 2015 I don't know if I should go ahead and order the part of some of them have different sensors are what
Learned it’s based on the letter. G turbos are 2012, 2013. Land Rover wants 4K for the turbo
Do you happen to know what the 2015's have?
@@jamesdarr6714 I ordered the one with the pins for my 2014 and mine did not have connectors... it had vacuum lines instead. I was able to use the old turbo housing with the new turbo and it works. I commented with more details to the video directly
That's a cool Ford Escape.
well done using a phone
