The Macan is supposed to be forward thinking - and while some people still mistakenly associate leather and quality, at least make it an option for those of us who have moved on.
I heard from many taycan orders that whilst brilliant on paper it is not the best car to live with, especially when it came to range. All the people that rushed to get one brand new sold it for a huge loss, and even two people that thought they got a deal buying a used one sold it after a few months for a loss too….i personally like it, but don’t have one so I cannot judge usability. There is no market for used sportscars like the Taycan, but huge market for used SUVs with a Porsche badge...deprecation will be much lower for the Macan.
All luxury sedans depreciate like crazy (much quicker than sports cars). Have a look at second-hand Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 series or Audi R8s. The problem is that they potentially cost a fortune if they break, but don't have the emotional appeal of a second-hand 911 or Ferrari. I suspect Taycans will end up being a better prospect for buyers on the second-hand market than the petrol luxury sedans, because the powertrains are likely to be a little less diabolically unreliable.
I really like the new Macan, the design looks great - I've had 2 ICE Macan's loved them both. Not sure if it'll match the Taycan's success for 3 reasons: 1: The EV market isn't what it was when the Taycan was released, it reset the benchmark but everyone has caught up. It also had a bucket load of issues. 2: The Taycan depreciation crashed like a falling star; why spend over 100K on a new when you can get 2nd hand 1st gen for half the price. 3: This new Macan doesn't have anywhere near the same road presence that the Taycan has, if the Taycan also came as ICE option, most wouldn't look twice at a Panamera.
Tempting to compare, but not really the same kind of propositions. I notice the 5N rear seat is a lot roomier, that counts as the rear seat is also slideable so I can vary the cargo space to need. The Porsche is great for luxury and great WYSIWYG driving, but it's abit more a SUV, I'd rather have the Taycan if has to be Porsche. I love the dual nature of the 5N, roomy very practical on one side, 200kg lighter button infested driver's car on the other hand, where I love to be able to make my own single push quick settings just like tuning a car or not entirely unlike dialling in a GT3 RS. For near half the money. Don't care for more comfort as it's way more comfy then any previous drivers car, love driving it like an ICE car when without sensitive 'cargo'....
First off, PROPS for getting both names right. Pors-sha (not 'porsch') and Hyun-DAY (two syllables is correct, not Hy-un-dai as many Brits seems to pronounce incorrectly). I personally find the Ioniq 5N more interesting than the Macan EV and I'm a huge Porsche fan too...
TL;DW: The new electric Porsche Macan builds on the success of its predecessors and is a strong contender in the luxury EV market, offering impressive performance, a range of 300 miles, and a refined interior. While it costs more than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, it’s praised for its handling, comfort, and luxury features. However, some might prefer the Ioniq for its fun driving experience and more compact feel. Ultimately, the Macan is a high-quality, versatile EV that blends performance with luxury.
I'm torn between two possibilities: either comparing a Porsche to a Hyundai shows just how far Hyundai has come, or it highlights how EVs lower the barrier to entry by removing the mechanical complexities of engines and transmissions. I guess both can be true lol
N Division for the win .... besides ... I dreamed of a Porsche for 15 years and 15 minutes inside their dealership put me off for life .... fck that brand ....
Complicated = A situation that you do not want to exist but which is there and you cannot change. But acceptance is difficult a.k.a. complicated. Yep that's the new definition.
If you want quick and some bells & whistles included, you buy the Hyundai. But if you want the badge and a badge that others lust after, you but the Porsche. If you’re an EVs geek, you’ll be interested in the Hyundai. Even if you don’t want one. If you’re a car geek, and have the money, you’ll buy the Porsche. Even if it’s an Audi with a badge to brag about.
A great review from Jack as always (and a world away from the “it’s a car” Fully Charged reviews of old…) but critically a 2.4 tonne, £100K, electron guzzling, tyre chewing Porsche is not really going to save the planet any more than the petrol version would 🤔
Imagine how fun porsche could make an actualm sports car shaped sports car... Also didnt Jack fit more comfortably in the back of the Inster??? If so that is DAMNING for this SUV platform, at least i think it should be
The same B-roll shot reused...again and again!! Great review as always, but the editing is letting Jack and the team down. Especially when its so obviously NOT Jack driving it 😂 small details but ive noticed it in a lot of your videos lately!
if the car can charge with 300 kW (407 hp), it can recharge-brake with the same 407 hp. Only when you need more stopping power than that, it will use the disks. Or when the speed is too low for regeneration (below 15 km/h). On my PHEV, the brake pads are still 1 cm thick after 100.000 km.
Coating the interior in cow leather reduces waste. As long as we eat animals we should make every effort to honour them by making use of every possible part of the body.

Not sure if it'll match the Taycan's success for 3 reasons:
1: The EV market isn't what it was when the Taycan was released, it reset the benchmark but everyone has caught up.
[12:10] Jack praises the quality of the Macan interior over the Ioniq 5N. But it costs an extra £37,000 to have it.
Love the looks can't do electric tho 😮
Never thought Korean car manufacturers excite more than any Germans.
Korean duo make better car than
German for the money!!
Porsche , what a heritage .
Same comment for Toyota. Your point?
The best reviewer 👍
I don't see the problem honestly. It's a good looking quality car. The EV part doesn't bother me.
I think I would heve to see that Porsche in person because on screen it looks like the love child of a mk1 Nissan Juke and a 1975 Vauxhall Chevette
I'm torn between two possibilities: either comparing a Porsche to a Hyundai shows just how far Hyundai has come, or it highlights how EVs lower the barrier to entry by removing the mechanical complexities of engines and transmissions. I guess both can be true lol
Hyundai WRC efforts would suggest they know a thing or two about ICE technology
Jack’s gigantic stature makes the Macan look like a low-riding city car! 🤣
Not going to buy this - new or used. But now those wanting to buy a Porsche SUV can choose an EV. Some sort of a win there, maybe 🤔⚡
No one pedal. Porsche, have a chat with your software team. . .
watch the video.
Is the matching hat a Porsche extra?
for a thousand pound extra!
Yep that's the new definition.
vegan interior and it would be perfect, the design of the rear is so good
Oh yes, vegans saving the planet one 2 ton 100 grand SUV at a time.
the leather is from a sustainable source.

“No one pedal driving” kills it for me. Why ignore one of the best features of EVs?
If you want quick and some bells & whistles included, you buy the Hyundai. But if you want the badge and a badge that others lust after, you but the Porsche. If you’re an EVs geek, you’ll be interested in the Hyundai. Even if you don’t want one. If you’re a car geek, and have the money, you’ll buy the Porsche. Even if it’s an Audi with a badge to brag about.
How baggy do you want your jeans sir?
Jack: "Yes"
The 90s fashion came back...
well in the 70's, it took me an hour to get the bloody things on and off!
Jack is an outstanding presenter.
A great review from Jack as always (and a world away from the “it’s a car” Fully Charged reviews of old…) but critically a 2.4 tonne, £100K, electron guzzling, tyre chewing Porsche is not really going to save the planet any more than the petrol version would 🤔
Go on the configurator and spend a day mucking about with the options. They have a lot! Ka Ching, Ka Ching...
Imagine how fun porsche could make an actualm sports car shaped sports car... Also didnt Jack fit more comfortably in the back of the Inster??? If so that is DAMNING for this SUV platform, at least i think it should be
Why does it have an emblem that says turbo on the back? I don´t understand.
The same B-roll shot reused...again and again!! Great review as always, but the editing is letting Jack and the team down. Especially when its so obviously NOT Jack driving it 😂 small details but ive noticed it in a lot of your videos lately!
start your own channel.
Great review, but yet another car to add to the won the lottery shortlist!
Thank you.
Nice, and looks WAaay more grown up inside & out, but it's not just....extra cash when comparing - it's ALLOT more cash than the 5N!
They could do a "Ionic 5N" to this car as they can record the ICE version sounds for it
No one pedal driving, they want you to use the brakes as much as possible, then charge you £500 for new pads and rotors.
Ooh!....that sounds dangerously close to a conspiracy theory....!!!
if the car can charge with 300 kW (407 hp), it can recharge-brake with the same 407 hp. Only when you need more stopping power than that, it will use the disks. Or when the speed is too low for regeneration (below 15 km/h). On my PHEV, the brake pads are still 1 cm thick after 100.000 km.
Shows how much you know then. Using the brake pedal in a Porsche EV means 95% of the time you're not using the brake discs either.
@@mofomat If your pushing the brake pedal, then your pads are contacting the discs, seems like you know very little.
just watch the bloody video, the brake pedal activates the regen.
Coating the interior in cow leather reduces waste. As long as we eat animals we should make every effort to honour them by making use of every possible part of the body.
