- I love using handheld foam sprayers when cleaning cars. You can use them to apply presoak products to the exterior, apply a foamy layer of wheel and tire cleaner, and also use it to apply thick suds to your interior panels before agitation. Most foaming pump sprayers cost anywhere from $25-$45. As great as they are, I know that spending that kind of money on a hand held sprayer may seem excessive. So in todays video, I am going to show you how you can turn you basic garden sprayer in to a foaming machine! ENJOY!!!

oh crap this actually worked. i noticed shoving more of the green sponge inside of the nozzle helped make it a ton more foamier
Thanks for the info being on a tight budget these days this could work for a lot of people who are weekend warriors like myself
Here in Brazil this has been done for a long time... Brazil, country of tricks 🇧🇷
Every time I can think of “best of” in terms of detailing products I always go to you! Thanks so much, helped my business a ton.
Keep up the good work Josh. I love your channel. I always look forward to your videos!
IK makes the Adams pump sprayer as far as I know as well as a few other branded sprayers.
Another cool thing about the gen 1 IK foamer is that on the side opposite of the pressure release valve there's a little designated spot where you can add a Schrader valve yourself if you want to be able to fill it up with an air compressor. But you can add the Schrader valve to pretty much any air powered pump sprayer if you'd like.
Another cool hack I've seen people do as an extension of that is get one of the rechargeable air compressors that people strap to their bikes and then strap it to the pump sprayer instead for a pump sprayer with essentially unlimited air on demand.
One last thing I will add as a caveat because I've seen a lot of people talk down about pump foamers especially the smaller ones is that it's really all about leaving enough space to have some air in there rather than just filling it right to the brim with liquid. Almost everybody that I've seen get upset with the smaller pump foamers was actually upset at their misuse of them and they've been much much happier with something like the foam pro 12 because of it's larger capacity.
Schrader valve --- That's what I was thinking about for the pressure relief. But then, I thought, "Why not use it to inject air?"
I've put them on my 5-gallon gas cans and switched the Kalifornia spouts for a regular spout. It pours MUCH faster and easier.
Well done, Muchacho.👍
I've been using these 1/2 gallon pump sprayers professionally for years and bought damn near every brand out there, from the most expensive to the cheapest! The best all around bang for your buck is the yellow and green ones from Lowes! Yellow pump handle and green top. Can't remember the brand name but trust me. At work we put diesel in them and the ones from Lowes outlast them all, but a huge margin!!! The O rings in most doesn't hold up to the chemicals. I went out to truck and found the name, Flo master. Sold at Lowes
Concrete form release? Thanks for the tip!
@@Sylvan_dB I do blacktop. We use diesel in them. The diesel eats up the orings, as well as the heat. The ones from Lowes last longer than most buy a long shot
I have a Harbor Freight one and just bought a "Flo Master" one like you mentioned from Lowe's. The only catch with the Flo Master is I don't think it would be easy to make it a foamer because there is a different nozzle design, it doesn't look like there's any room in there to stuff the scrub material.
@@SnowBeltDetails I have faith in you that you'll come up with something! Lol. Worth a shot, only like $8 bucks. Let me know if you figure it out 👍💯🇺🇲
Wow. Amazing in its simplicity. I am definitely doing this!
Thanks friend - was tinkering around and with a canister and your instructions were super clear.🤜🤛
Thanks man. I never used this sprayer but just tried this and I’ll use it for my brake buster now. What up from Temecula as well, we are neighbors almost 🤙
Thanks for making this video, LOVE this content. Real world work, not just cleaning the NASTIEST WORK TRUCK ever.
I saw one very similar with the same tip in a shop I will get it and try, very awesome video thank you!
Thank you for sharing this with us! Some people may say this is not a great tool since the foam is not world class. But for someone like me who liiterally just squirts dish soap on his car lol, this is amazing. 🙌
Thanks it worked like a charm, I made mines from a HDX sprayer from Home-Depot for $8.97 and it works perfect! Thanks again 👊🏾
Nice tip!!! how about a video on what types of car related products could be used in a foam sprayer? Im always looking for ways to make my side hustle easier and a foamer with different products would be great
I'm just a goober that does a little diy detailing this is all I need for my little bit of playing around
thanks for the valuable tip. i have the SK pump sprayer but now i can have an assortment of sprayers with different chemicals at a reasonable cost
You always release super relevant videos that are well versed and unbiased knowledge, can't thank you enough as I build my first setup. The MJJC foam cannon I got off your website is in incredible. Thanks Josh!
Thanks for the hack I’ve never had a foam sprayer so I will try this first just to get me started. 💯
Everytime I watch one of your videos I end buying something. Your videos are always so helpful. Thanks for doing what you do!
Happy to do it! Thanks Shawn
I have a couple of the Harbor Freight ones in the garage. I picked them up for $5 on sale. One's going to be used for spraying wood brightener on the deck. Look like the other one is destined for car detailing.
I like this, will have to pick one up now and try it out. Ok has a regular sprayer that's like this but this'll do for my shower glass panes.
The video that started it all. Thanks
Great idea, thanks Josh 👍😁
thanks for the tip, grabed one from walmart and its not super terible, can deffinitly work for small jobs wheels tires which is what i was going for thumbs up,
I took your idea but ended up rolling a nice tight roll of scotch brite in both spots. I used diluted nonsense from chemical guys and WHOA! This thing foams like crazy. Good stuff brotha 👌🏽
What exactly did you do
i just did this and got way more foam than i thought i was going to. Thanks!
How ?
@@leojohnwayne1422 I just did exactly what he did in the video. I use super clean in it for my wheels and tires
Very cool. I wanted to get pump foam sprayers for tire cleaner and APC but couldn’t justify spending $30+ per sprayer for my home use. I’ll definitely give this a try.
This doesn’t get as much foam as the others but it still a great budget friendly option!
I've just discovered an even better foam sprayer hack. It's glorious
Hey Josh! Love the creativity for this video! I think it would be interesting to see one of those pump sprayers modded with the Fanttik X8 car tire inflator for continuous pressure!
wow! thanks for the hack man, you have a new subscriber
Super helpful ! Had just bought one of these too from harbor freight 😅
Awesome tip!!! Thank you, will be trying soon.
👍👍👍
I just purchased one of those pump sprayers from harbor freight great time to do a hack .
This video was excellent, as I'll wash my car once a few weeks and want to foam on a budget
Glad I watched this . Got this same idea from a shorter video that didn’t show how to solve the issue of the filter at the nossle. If not as said it will not work
Josh, thanks for the video. The sprayer I bought with the mods in your video is not producing foam. I punched a hole in the tube close to the lid and put in the filter scrotch bright pad in the nozzle. What am I doing worng?
This is so funny. The second time I was looking in depth into something and you posted a video the same day. I already have an IK 1.5 that I DIY added a Schreder valve to, so it operates more like a 2.0+. Today I was looking into getting a cheap sprayer for another wheel cleaner product that I only use on one of my cars and felt like I don’t really have to spend $40-50 on one for this purpose.
Haha great minds think alike!
Thank you for sharing this hack.
Hi. So the scotch pad also mixes more air in too ? jjust wonder what the function was. Do people use the pump sprayer to soap up the car as a budget version of a spray cannon ? Seems like a good idea for that too and just let it soak& loosen some dirt or pollen etc before.washing the car. Good idea
damn this is awesome, thanks for sharing
I tried this right afterwards best hack ever, got more foam than what was seen when u did it though, it was thick used a different pump not the one with the metal tip but the full plastic version. Since following I've gotten some great tips and tricks and also the best reviews on maxshine polishers have a m312 works great especially for restoration of headlights
I wonder if a simple hole puncher would be a perfect mod to make it the right size ? Either way, AWESOME hack. Thank you!
Do you pierce one side kf the tube or go all the way through? Mine didnt work very little output not amd doesnt seem to build pressure anymore 😢
i love the one with the lock, i always accidently hit the button and it sprays
Very nice! I have a few of these HF ones sitting in the garage. I've been thinking about using it for iron remover.
👍👍
Can you review the moldex axel foamers vs other foamers?
I wonder if that would be good if you used ONR?
Very cool mod josh
I really expected this to foam like crazy, I use the cheap sprayer currently but I already ordered the IK.
Great video
seen this on another youtube site, this at least confirms it works
Thank you so much!
SGCB yes they sell in other countries as well.
Brilliant
Nice job.
Awesome thanks so much 🙏
Josh, I need a link for a kit with ALL the brushes I will need for tires wheels and interior
Awesome hack.
Can you do a review on regular bottle sprayers something for a quick detailer
The best trigger sprayer is the Opus
Woohoo hell yeah thank you
lol it’s pretty good. Going to go make a couple
👍👍
Try cutting shower puff and jam it in there mate. Better result.
Have you tried Maxshine Ultra Foaming soap??
had a question for you if I had something like this but it only works as a straight stream and the syphontube is rubber ( if it had a rubber tube do you think it still possible to put a hole in the tube if its rubber? ) did you have any ideas my device is powered by co2 thoughts please thank you
I guess the answer is if get it wrong use duct tape?
Genius
Worked a treat just get a decent soap foamer and garden pump action bottle , brill
Oh and I found not too much scotchbrite just a small square like he said
Will ScotchBrite work on my IK Foamer?
What about using steel wool? Since it’s similar to what’s in foam cannons
yea that would work well im sure
Bro. Thank you.
Do I have to dilute P&S Brake Buster in a pump sprayer or can I use it straight?
I believe you dilute 5:1, did you ever test it?
Hey Josh would you happen to know the best electric pressure washer for a mjjc foam cannon pro?
The Ryobi 1800, 1.6GPM works excellent for this DIY'er.
Make sure you release the pressure after you use the sprayer. Then pump it back up before you use it again. I didn't do it on my first sprayer, and the gaskets blew. Bummer.
Did you poke a hole through the straw completely or just 1st wall of plastic in straw?
Just through one side.
Not bad, but the real question is how long does that harbor freight pump actually last. I purchased one of those pesticide sprayers and after a month it was pretty much garbage.
Dude I seen this video and modified my own HF sprayers and they foam awesome I found they foam best the more scotch Brite you put in (want the gap to be as little as possible) and just use a couple pumps if you do that you get super thick foam but if you pump it a lot it gets more watery...I used 2 of these multiple times a day and they worked for over a year (literally hundreds of gallons) but you'll want to get a o-ring kit and replace the shitty little plastic ones still overall a little bit of effort and a o ring kit and I can make like 6 of these to 1 ik sprayer
Id love a tutorial on the o ring change and improve perfomance
Did you use the same amount of pin holes in the feeder tube? Saw someone else used about three holes?
@@tootallthree I just used a small needle and poked a whole straight through about 1in down from from the green part of the pump
hello brother, I'm starting my car detailing business, I need faith your help... which pressure washer to choose?
a craftman 1900 psi
or a ryobi 2300 psi but not the new linear edition... please help!
I forgot to mention that I will be using a gravity water tank...thanks in advance for your help!
i just picked up a home depot brand today, but maybe I'll return it if it is not so good.
Sweet I have the second one that you showed SGCB pump foamer
Works awesome , worth every penny .
Yea I was surprised with that one. It’s really great!!
You can get a Solo foamer for $30 It works really well and you can change the density of the foam on the fly
They're $20 right now on amazon
I don’t know if it’s normal but I have to pump my IK sprayer about 40 to 50 pumps to build enough pressure to last more than a few seconds.
Yeah thats why they made a new one with the Schrader valve.
@@NickVetter called ik foam pro 2+
@@The1Music2MyEars yes it is
So is 20 holes too much in the tube
The $7 Lowe's pump sprayer that looks similar to the harbor freight sprayer is substantially better than.
Really? How so? They look identical in pictures aside from the size of the bottle.
Curious how long the garden pump sprayer lasts versus a true foam sprayer
@@miketampabay9446 the garden sprayer?
@@bhcamaro2002 he means the cheap harbor frieght / lowes / home depot version.
That could also be useful in the garden. Some anti-fungal chemicals if applied in a foam allowing for a longer dwell time on the plant leaves, might increase the effectiveness of the product. 🤔
Some loud
When I make the puncture is it on the pressure stem or on the water straw?
The best solution is to have two snow foam guns one real cheap, along with the one you normally always use, No pumping, no air to fill, just attach it to your pressure line.
I just bought two of those sprayers last week. I bought them because of the price. I had no idea that this this video was on here. I am going to try it. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I just applie cleaner on my brush instead of spraying on panel
Too much water?
I think Adams foamers are made by ik
I need something to bring my black wheels back to life
Kind of like this hack ruclips.net/video/PipzlWjH_1M/видео.html Is there a way to use a regular pesticide pump sprayer and turn it into a powered foam sprayer?
I liked "autodoc" video more.. There was no water. Here video starts at 05:00
Now drill a hole in the side and install a air valve 🤘
Lol. Get a real one. Makes a big difference
The Harbor Freight sprayer has a very thin wall for the bottle. I had one that fell onto my garage floor, empty, and cracked. Piece of junk!
That's really sad that you have to put a disclaimer on the video. But then again, some people need to be warned not to drink the contents of a battery.
Haha yea better safe than sorry
No big difference
Not very foamy though !
