Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been putting comic books inside burgers for around 47 years I just couldn’t resist it, the addiction peaked in the 90’s when the foils came out ( those foils tasted extremely good ) .
I would add not overfilling boxes, not stacking them flat on top of each other, and getting the boxes up off the ground and using pallets or something similar if the are stored in a finished basement or garage. Silver age bags and boards are a good suggestion, and go for 2mil mylar and double board for a nice tight fit.

Great list! I do all of these things, but my biggest pet peeve is organization. I am retired and I collect comics as my primary and only hobby. I have to the time to organize my comics the way I want. First, I wanted to own my organizational list, so I do not use online apps. I split my organization through an Excel spreadsheet and an icon folder. My Excel spreadsheet includes almost everything about the comics through a single row. Second, I found organizing in alphabetical order in the box was nearly impossible. Therefore, I try to keep them together by title but will place them in other comic long boxes if needed. The titles and issue numbers in a box are tracked through my Excel spreadsheet. Comics in each box are in alphabetical order. This allows me to expand my collection with a minimal amount of reorganization. Third, I color coat my comics on the Excel spreadsheet to annotate purchases, slabs, sold comics, price, etc. Naturally, this requires a lot of time. I have plenty of time and I can find almost any comic within seconds when needed.

After hurricane Harvey, we didnt have electricity for 8 days. No, I don't live in the Houston area but in the area where it actually came in at. It came in just north of us by few miles, we got the wrap around wind damage. Had to sit in the garage so I didn't melt. Even with the windows opened it was really hot. Because of the heat and humidity, I had to rebag and board my comics. One Spiderman comic had a wrap around cover and the image was imprinted on the board. That just another problem you can have with humidity.
Great stuff as usual bro! First off-a big congratulations on your new variant cover. I can only imagine how thrilled you must be! 😀 That’s an entertaining list of suggestions. You definitely don’t want to display your comics where the direct sun can hit them. Most of my comics are raw, so I use those One Touch comic book cases. I love that they have UV protect and a sawtooth cutout on the back for easy hanging. There a a number of other options out there as well for both graded and raw comics! 👍🏾😀
I've always used silver age bags and boards for every book, down to 1961, after that I use golden age bags and boards as they definitely are wider before then, great tips "mostly" as usual James! Congrats on the cover, superb!
You missed one. Don't double comic your bags/boards. The Acidic side of the board will leech color from the comic back cover attached to the non-glossy side.
The collections that I have picked up from the early 90s hadn’t experienced any ink transfer, just the reverse image from the acidity of the ink discolouring the boards. I have also seen this discolouring in the glossy, it’s just less prevalent. I have seen people misuse boards by by having the matte side facing the book. This also dependent on if the board is buffered on both sides and throughout.
You rock, my good man- I LOVE your content. I'm 55- so probably 20 years older than you- but you speak to me/my gen with your channel. I know you are doing this full time and I say God bless you my man- go live your dream. You are a good human being; I can see that. Thanks for everything, my man.
I actually have my slab comics on display on a wall on the opposite side of the room where the sun can get in, but I always have the blinds closed, and you can actually buy UV protectors that can go over top of your slabs. You have to cut them yourself, and work out the air bubbles a bit though. Someone told me because your blinds are always closed, you’re fine, but I didn’t want to take a risk.
Hey James thanks for the insight! Me personally I never really liked the silver age taste with my cheeseburgers. Probably just gonna stick to moderns for my meal
Thanks as a new collector these are great tips. Just started to board and bag my first bulk lots after years as a loose pile/stack. Instantly they look 10 times better in short boxes and vertical. Lots of them have spine roll but for my budget Im happy.
Great tip about the ground tarp, it used to take me about 20 books to cover a reasonable area but the tarp does the trick in one go, can’t believe nobody else is talking about this!
your cover was sold out at diamond, so couldnt get it. Hopefully it will come up for sale elsewhere, unless you are going to sell signed ones (im in the UK)?

Be sure to use a backing board. I had a long box in a basement for over 25 years untouched. When I opened the box, all the comics had a dent on the spine. Without the backing board, the weight of the books stressed the spines.
For number 10, you may have suggested not eating while handling your comic books. Also I remember seeing a youtube auction and the auctioneer was puffing away on a cigarette and was thinking how his comic books probably all stunk of cigarettes. But people were still bidding on his books.
Even when bagged and boarded try not to stack 'em. Too much weight can still cause spine rolls. It also causes the bags to develop those ugly wrinkle waves.
