A funny idea, but I go frequently and what sucks about it is there is a sensor over the gate to the "chicken coop" which makes a clucking sound every time someone goes through. Well people don't seem to understand what makes the sound happen, so they'll just constantly lean on the gate which makes the chicken never EVER stop clucking lol...
Ikr what was so embarrassing was that I got tired of riding it 10 times ( literally) so I Waited for my sis and the employee said I had to wait in the chicken coop :l

The whole appeal of a roller coaster is that you survive a crazy you have no control over. Someone dies and suddenly it’s terrifying. Meanwhile your bed is stationary and a place of sanction. You’re supposed to feel safe in bed. It’s yours. You are in control.

Hope it reopens, looks like a fun ride. Large people, please please please, stop trying to squeeze yourself into things that don't fit. Not just coasters, but daisy dukes, small skirt's, skin tight t-shirts ment for children, shoes 2 sizes to small, and parking spots where you don't have enough room to open the door fully, and end up dinging the persons car next to yours. No one likes to point out obvious problems. But no one also likes to be punished every time some knuckle head has an idea.
Does no one seriously remember the migraines the texas giant caused... or was that just people who live 20 min away and get to go often? This was my first Rollercoaster. It is my favorite one... it's the most 'thrilling' coaster imo there. Today was the first time I rode it since they redid it... it was spectacular.. pretty damn smooth, and gets your tummy in knota every few seconds. I will always cherish the old school ride for what it was (would always ride it despite the headache).. but I live the mods. Great spin on an old classic.
Also they are super serious about safety now... if the ride doesn't lock, you're not aloud to ride.. they have warning signs too. Saw it happen 3 times while in que... I felt for them, but they were warned and it's better than being dead!
Hydraulic lap bars actually do not click, but instead have a swift motion with no ratcheting mechanism to produce a clicking noise. When these lapbars are locked into place, there is not a definite click, but instead a green light indicator to signal a secure lapbar.

The cars feature four self-supporting seats with T-shaped lapbars. By the use of two hydraulic cylinders each lapbar can be adjusted steplessly and offers maximum security. As a matter of course each Hybrid Coaster Train can be custom-themed and offers stadium seating with a perfect view from every seat.
This is my favorite ride at the park. Its really sad to hear someone died on it. :( They should add seat-belts as back up safety. While I felt completely safe I can see how that would be an issue to a bigger woman as the news says she was. It seems like when someone falls out its always some inconsiderate workers fault.
Yeah the reason why it happened was that there was a fat person that got on the ride and instead of the lap bar touching there thigh like it was supposed to it was on their stomach so it wasn’t on there correctly. They have seat belts there also now
I'm just sitting here laughing at all the ignorant people crying about how they're not getting on this ride after the incident. I'm actually happy they're not. For two reasons: 1. So I don't have to hear you cry about it IRL. 2. Less queues for those who actually WANT to ride it, and who realize that you are way more likely to die from falling off your f-ing stairs than from this.
Actually, there was an article about injuries from this ride. A good portion of them literally were from the steps leading up to the ride. Like deadass. Watch out on them steps, y'all.

This ride, like all, are perfectly safe. Very tragic what happened, needless to say, BUT millions of people ride these things every year. Look at the stats people, coasters are super safe, you're much more likely to die driving to the park. And most accidents are people being dumb, or a ride op mistake. Rarely a ride malfunction. And lap bars are perfectly safe as well, these things are designed by engineers, and tested extensively. Sad what happened but its completely safe!

The new smooth tracking will permit the return of the famous first drop and they are going to remove the helix. I came here to check out what was done to the Texas Giant, and as of now, I am seeing A LOT of steel on the tracking and I have qualms if this still classifies the coaster as a "woodie", rather than a steel coaster on wooden supports (ala Cedar Point's Gemini). It just looks too smooth.
Yes, if they were to keep SOB, I could definitely seeing this conversion as a benefit. SOB was a maintenance nightmare, which is what eventually lead to the loop removal. But with a conversion like this then I certainly could see them putting the loop back in. But as I said above, this conversion makes the ride seem more like that of a steel coaster rather than the classic rickety wooden coaster ride. But I digress, I would have to ride the New Texas Giant first to give a full evaluation.

For the most part the layout looks to be nearly the same with some changes here and there. It isn't as drastic a change like they did with Colossus at Magic Mountain and also The Rattler. Those two are completely different rides from the original. It does make me wonder how much of the original structure did they reuse? In the case of the Rattler it looks like more than 85 percent of that coaster is totally new. (that is a rough estimate of course).

For the most part it only looks like they kept the double lift hill and the far turn around structure. Almost everything in the middle looks new. The one thing I do like is how they kept the double track configuration, but folded it back on itself to make it a mobius circuit. THAT was pure genius.
Not to sound mean or offensive but they released the victims photo and she appeared to be overweight, that may be one reason why her restraint wasn't secure enough. This is very similar to the lady who died on the Perilous Plunge at Knotts Berry Farm who fell out cause of her weight.

i like it now but i must say i like the old one a little better. Its awesome for a Hybrid coaster but i still crave the rickity rocky roll you get from a wooden coaster and this one was the best. But i do like the super banked turns they are amazing

I hear people like you say that all of the time but where's the proof that filming a roller coaster has killed or injured someone?
Looks way better than Steel Vengeance. All the hype all Cedar Fair is getting is a 2.0 version of this that's a bit taller, steeper, inversions. This is unique in not-having any inversions, being the first real RMC coaster (even if they get credit for construction on others, maintenance, etc), and the big size layout. As is Twisted Timbers which is epic with a nice long length and different from others. I'd rather ride it or this one anyday (I've ridden a decent amount including twisted timbers, and will hit twisted cyclone, have gotten to most of them besides this one in the vid, outlaw run, and lightning broken rod).

The Iron Rattler in San Antonio reopened today and now it has seat belts on it. In guessing the same thing will happen for Texas Giant
To me the drop feels steeper and longer than it looks
