I got so excited when I saw this notification!!! I actually love this film… and what’s sad is I feel like a lot of people have never seen it! I watched this for the first time when I was 14 and just starting to get into the realm of apocalyptic horror and I loved it. So glad my favorite RUclipsr is covering it!!
10 Cloverfield Lane is one of my favorite movies. I loved Cloverfield as well but i got a chance to see this one in theaters and was blown away. Just so good.
Only watched Cloverfield and Cloverfield Paradox. But I fell in love with these movies with the first being a monster movie essentially, but focusing on surviving the rampage of the creature than fighting the creature. It was a really unique movie.
This movie was never supposed to be connected to Cloverfield but like many of the Hellraiser movies, it was changed hoping the connection would draw a bigger audience.
I love aliens, always, so the aliens twist got me super excited. I’d actually never watched the original and I watched it years later. Love both. Paradox would be fun as a standalone just because it’s so trippy, but I think Cloverfield is one of those franchises where the mysteries should remain mysteries, cuz they’re so frickin weird that I don’t think any explanation would be satisfying. It’s the unknown that makes them so unsettling.
Howard had sign of no human regards since the beginning of the movie, he wasn't clear on communicating why she was there and overall had clear signs of physiological issues(the body language) which makes me appreciate James P. Sulivan's (john Goodman's) acting a lot.
I watched this movie while working at a theater as a second job back when it was released. I never saw the first movie, but I was completely captivated while watching this one at the theater.
I still think Overlord is in the cloverfield universe because of the tar pit that makes the zombies. maybe a monster died and is deep underground and that's why the tar is there. All of the properties of the ingredients in Slusho have the same side effects as the tar I would LOVE if you discussed this or explored it!
Great video. Like you, I'm one of those who loved the third act of this film. I appreciate how you filled in some blanks for my understanding of the film. Thanks.
The monster from the first movie is named Clover and he isn't from the ocean. The whole point of all three movies is the mystery behind what the hell is going on. Most likely, the device from Paradox spliced Clover and the Aliens into that version of Earth. Clover destroyed NYC, was killed by the US on the East Coast, and the Aliens started a war with mankind on the West Coast, which they are winning by the end of 10 Lane. Tagruato is something to throw us off the scent of the real plot.
Great video again mate. I know this will frustrate you possibly but have you considered doing an episode on The Cured. On your 28 Weeks late episode you said you've never seen a movie do post-post apocalypse. The Cured is a very novel take and no one talks about it. I think you'd have a lot to say.
I've actually never seen the other Cloverfield movies, just this one. I love the sense of mystery, the twist at the end, and it's so chilling not knowing what's real and what's not real until the end.
Funny timing that I just watched it recently, it is good & thankfully that it didn’t have that stale boring moment of character background. Most isolation movies have that & are boring scenes but this one kept the pace going.
A little side note. When I watch this movie all I can ever think of is that fact that this production built a bunker set in Louisiana. Like who okayed that!?
I loved this movie much more than the 1st one but I also think that 'Paradox' does not deserve the hate. If it wasn't for the brilliant John Goodman I'd rate the trilogy 3-2-1 but Lane just edges ahead. Great video and glad you didn't bash Paradox. 😁
I adore this film so much! MEW is a phenomenal actress. She was badass and crafty the entire movie. I really think people should watch it without worrying about the other two movies. I'd say it's probably in my top 100 movies of all time!
for some reason paradox's plot sounds so much like Half-Life, which strangely connects with when Abrams contacted Valve about doing a movie about both portal and half-life (at least as a producer) I think what sells cloverfield for me was the mystery and homework you had to do with the community. It was so much fun. In my opinion making a children of man/half life 2 setting while keeping the mystery of the monster from cloverfield and aliens from lane would be possibly a way out of the weird tangle they got themselves into. Follow the survivors from the first movie and the second, keeping the handheld vibe (to a less extent maybe as it did get a tad bit nautious) as they try form a resistance to fight back maybe? I'm essentially just re-hashing half-life 2's plot with children of man but hope the new movies are good!
Wasn't Cloverfield Paradox originally a filmed movie that had nothing to do with Cloverfield, but they reshot some scenes and changed the title to make a third film?
I read a leaked script (I don't remember if it had the aliens in it or if it was pre JJ) but the script I read it made who to trust even more questionable. You weren't sure if Howard was a crazed kidnapper and killer or if it was Emmet. It really seemed to lean toward Emmet being a the one who killed Megan and Howard didn't know.
ah, the good one of the Frankenstein an unrelated body part to the Cloverfield universe instead of exerting real effort, it's such a paradox the mystery box crew lucked up one and lucked down the follow-up with such brillant surgery skills.
I've always thought this was a really good movie! Ive saw SOOO many horror movies that I've gotten to where i like movies with more unpredictable plots that you can't constantly see whats coming next...
Maybe because I wanted a proper sequel to Cloverfield I never got into this film. It's fine but does little for me. Maybe I can't get over the disappointment of it not being a real sequel.
That bit about having two nickels another RUclips did that joke last week I think they made video essay on the thing and the thing remake idk if you saw it n did it too cos that would be funnier cos the bit is done twice like the theme of the joke
This was originally supposed to be a movie about a woman waking up in a bunker. Nothing more. It wasn't until I believe Abrams said something along the lines of "hey, let's make it Cloverfield." that they did a few reshoots and then yeah. Boom. It's a Cloverfield movie. Hell I believe the original title for the film was The Bunker if I'm not mistaken.
@@joshchavez8190 ???.......Despite your strangely passive aggressive comment, the reason my comment exists is because some people actually like to comment their thoughts on a topic before watching a video on said topic. the only thing that loses me is that she turned into wonderwomansupergirl and destroyed that gigantic alienspacecraftcreature. Don't get me wrong I LOVE strong female types VERY much (huge Alita fan) but I still believe %99.9 of people would shit their pants and freeze right there if they see a strange aircraft hovering like that.
well i just watched it today i feel 10 Cloverfield lane could've done the twist better by maybe showing a few glimpses of the aliens outside rather then the zombie lady thing well that scene dose imply something is wrong i dont feel it suffices the future third act i think showing her being attack instead by something wouldve done that although i can see why some feel that change could jeopardize that shock of the alien reveal i think just a glimpse of something of alien origin could've really pushed the movie to further greatness
