That's basically what's happened to every large building built before the Empire State Building. Most of the time before the Empire State Building was built, the new tallest building wasn't dramatically bigger that the previous one. But, when it was built, it was so insanely tall and wide for its time that it still stands out today.

@@kalipsicao790 I lived in Queens for 25 years up until 2012 due to the rising rents and the effects of the "Great Recession" still lasting well after it was over. The effects caused everyone to be a penny pincher, nobody was hiring, nobody wanted to spend, jobs were cutting people to save. Even with two jobs i barely was able to pay rent and afford a unlimited MetroCard, i was living off cup noodles to survive. Just before 2012, my rent was going to be higher, so i just packed and moved out of New York. I really do miss the city, its borough's, Coney Island amusement park, and all of the different types of foods from so many nationality's and the NYC Pizza / Clone-Menu Chinese food joints. The only way i keep up with my surrounding former area's of NYC is the updated google maps street view.

From then on it cleaned up its act in a steady fast fashion as it was shaken to the very core. It is wonderfully beautiful today with many high rise projects underway and planned.

Good job 👍👍👍 I miss the old New York. This New York today, does not feel like NYC anymore... I think New York started to lose its feel after September 11th... every year since that day, New York has felt less, and less like it used to be..

I am a survivor from the 89th floor. And 9/11 will happen again not soon but later. I will never forget the firefighters running up the stairs and the expression on there face was we are never going to get out of these buildings alive. And the people that knew they where going to die. The picture in my mind of me and people I didn’t even know all holding hands and walking in the street crying and calling loved ones there had to be about 20 people people just grabbed each other and just walked no where to go just walked we walked 10 blocks to we all hugged and said good bye and one lady said thank you all for walking with me I just lost my husband and my oldest son! This day will never be forgotten

Hi, James Fox. Can you make an updated version of ‘New York: A Journey Through Time’, same for ‘San Francisco: A Journey Through Time’ because my father originated from there and see the changes in the skyline through the years. Can you also make ‘Singapore: A Journey Through Time’ because I live here and I want to see the changes through time from like Raffles period to current day?
