I get it... The master sword can't break during the final boss fight, so if you fuse a shield to it you have infinite block. This is good because Gannondorf has attack's that can destroy a full health hylian shield in two hits.
Fusing the Hylian shield to the Master Sword actually more lore accurate. Any time you see a memory of Link, he only ever uses the Master Sword, with no shield, and he also does stuff like parrying, and other sword techniques. This is true genius.

It’s crazy to think that at the beginning of the game when Ganon took links arm that we would come full circle at the end and he goes out of his way to say to link that this time he would be taking so much more than his arm in this climatic final battle had me in absolute shock, couldn’t believe it
In my opinion it should be optional to parry with a Sword as well with the difference to a shield being that you cannot parry everything and you have to take a blow if you miss the Timing instead of just blocking with your shield
I have at least 270 hours on this game, every shrink, every battery, and every sages will done. And yet I did not know you can hit the flying gloom things back towards Ganondorf
do you not remember how common Dead Man's Volley is in the Ganon fights? practically every Ganon fight after the OG has had a Dead Man's Volley attack: Ganondorf and Phantom Ganon from OoT, Ganon from Four Swords Adventure, Phantom Ganon from Wind Waker, Possessed (by Ganon) Zelda from Twilight Princess, etc.
I love how Ganondorf’s health bar, when reloaded, instead of being centered on the screen, just extends all the way to the right and just keeps going… 😂
To add to that, the shield looks more like some kind of magic addon to it as opposed to just being a shield on a sword. Gives the Master Sword a slightly more magical look to it that way.
I really wish there was just a pure weapon parry mechanic. Especially considering that this version of link doesn’t often carry a shield at all in many of the cut scenes. If link is the best swordsman in the land that should be natural for him.

Likely a clever reference to his previous somewhat morally grey actions taken far earlier in this digital form of entertainment that resulted in the not quite-permanent destruction of a vital part of my personage, commonly used for every day tasks.
2:18 this sorta has me thinking, how the heck did the sages mange to kill the bosses again so fast, depending how long it takes the player to get to the second phase of ganon, the sages come out one by one, tulin, yunabo(cant spell), sidon, riju then minaru. Basically in order of easiest boss to hardest. But still they managed to kill the bosses that fast shows how skilled they are, after defeating them once with link they probably picked up on the bosses skills, weaknesses and powers and used their knowledge against them to make it easier. Its very interesting to me
It is so sad the fight was so underwhelming seeing how cool and intimidating ganondorf was made out to be. at least the dragon section was rad as hell.
Personally I prefer to fuse a shield to the Fierce Deity Blade. It looks like a proper reinforcement to the blade rather than ruining it's look and it lets me block using the weapon rather than being defenceless while using it.
Only thing about this game i didnt like was the whole ganon fight, fight was underwelming and the music easnt intense at all, its the only reason i havent replayed the game yet, the rest of the game was a 10/10 ganon fight was 2/10
That hp bar is just ridiculous and that boss fight is easier than battling lynel Keep in mind you this is a final boss In 2 of the game they still doesn't know how to make final boss hard
