I found this video while looking to fix and 15 year old chime. Oh my world! I've now decided to make these chimes instead with my old jewelry and "junk drawer" items. Thank you so much!😊
Kimberly, yay! I'm so glad you found value in this and like this project. It's such a great way to use any various supplies in your stash. Thank you for letting me know! 🥰🥰
I am SO happy I stumbled upon your channel!!! Most of my beads are from thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, etc... I just cut them up and play with them. I'm excited to make something like this, thank you!!!
I love that you're trying to upcycle and salvage too! Please don't hesitate to let me know you if you have ANY questions at all. I really appreciate your kind words on this video more than you know!
I'm so glad you took the time to watch. If you want to slow down the video to see it better, you can click the cog (settings) button on the bottom right of the video to slow it down. At the time that I made the video, I really didn't want the video to be too long. I've since added a link in the description to another video of mine that shows how to make a wrapped loop - the type of wrapping that I used to connect everything. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions if any if it isn't clear to you. Thanks again for watching!
Well, have at it! It's a lot of fun to mix and match parts. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have questions or need clarification on how I did it. Enjoy the process!
Drimmels make me a little nervous when it comes to using them on metal. And, I wanted to make sure this tutorial was accessible for everyone. But, thanks for the tip. I appreciate it! :)
OMG, Hope, Last night I stumbled upon your assemblage art work and I sent you jusa a short note and I said that loved your thought process and I couldn't wait until this afternoon to look more of your work and boom I found these wind chimes, I had saved a lot of bottle caps I think I have at least 100 of them and an old coffee can but I couldn't think of how to put it all together, and now I get it I also went to see your Jewelry Making vids and I'm going to have a go at it. I know why I love your Assemblage work, its because I have so much really cool stuff that I had asked my friends to donate to me so that I could make a Memory Jug and I got so much I didn't know where to start. I used to have so much time to myself, but I really don't any more, Im the primary caretaker for my Husband who has Parkinson disease and I just put every away because I just wasn't inspired any longer. Now I feel like I'm on fire to do assemblage ( I love everything eclectic)ART. Sorry this is so long but i want to tell you a little about myself.
Girl, I am so thrilled to have put a fire in your soul to create again. Yay!! That's the whole reason I make these videos - to inspire. I'm not familiar with a Memory Jug and may have to look that up. Interesting! You may be inspiring me. I love to work with the old, rusty, forgotten, and undervalued objects. It gives me such joy to give them a new life where they're not lingering in some landfill. Let me know if you have any questions at all, if anything is unclear! I'm always happy to help!
Thanks for the feedback, Alicia. I basically just used wrapped loops and/or jump rings to connect everything together. There's a link in the description of this video that explains how to make the wrapped loops. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask! (Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was on an internet-break)
Thanks! The sound all depends on what you add into the mix and how those things sound hitting one another. That's what's great about this project, you can put whatever you want into it. Have fun with it.
Yes, I think adding the paint is a good idea for many. I live in a humid climate too and mine rusted quickly as well. However, I adore rust and the wabi sabi feel of it so I don't mind at all as that's what I had hoped it would do. It's definitely a personal choice. Thanks for recommending it.
Thank you. You're not the first to mention the speed. I do apologize. When I uploaded this several years ago, I was convinced that the video needed to be as short as possible. Since then, I've added a link in the description to my video on how to make wrapped loops that should help. So glad you like this. With kids, you would definitely have to be sure that they're older since the tin, the wire, and the tools could all be dangerous for lil' uns. But, I think the materials could be altered easily enough for younger kids too. Enjoy!
Yes, decorating the can is definitely an option and would help keep them from rusting. Since I made these 3+ years ago, they have rusted beautifully, and I love that! As for their sound, it all depends on what you hang on it. The ones I made are not very loud at all, a slight tinkling. But, I love them for their decorative purposes even more. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other comments!
I can't figure out how you hung the buttons in between the objects. Did you make another hole for the jump ring to go in? Video was so fast I couldn't see how that was done. Thanks
Yeah, sorry for that. The buttons were wire-wrapped. I just used one of the holes on the buttons to insert the wire. Here's a tutorial on how I wire-wrap buttons (ruclips.net/video/FWrqG5pc0LA/видео.html). I used jump rings to connect the wire wraps to the other componanets. It is safer to work from inside of the smaller cans.
I'm not sure what you mean. If you ensure that there are no burrs poking up from where you've opened your can, it should be fairly safe to work in them. It controls the settings and allows you to set a slower speed. Also, if you have ANY questions about my process, I'm quite happy to help. Ask away!
Moving way too fast
Yes, I've been told. I've learned my lesson about the speed of this. If you need to view it slower, you can hit the cog button on the video and select a slower speed. And, if you have any questions about the process, please don't hesitate to ask!
I love it, but you talked too much and went to fast.
I'm glad you like the project, I suppose. If you have questions about anything, just let me know.
Slow down ur to fast
Lol. You're definitely not the first to mention this. Sorry about that. When I made this video several years ago, I wanted it to be as short and concise as possible. I've learned from that mistake. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.
Yes! I love it!!!❤😍😍
