    I found this video while looking to fix and 15 year old chime. Oh my world! I've now decided to make these chimes instead with my old jewelry and "junk drawer" items. Thank you so much!😊

      I'm so glad you took the time to watch. If you want to slow down the video to see it better, you can click the cog (settings) button on the bottom right of the video to slow it down. At the time that I made the video, I really didn't want the video to be too long. I've since added a link in the description to another video of mine that shows how to make a wrapped loop - the type of wrapping that I used to connect everything. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions if any if it isn't clear to you. Thanks again for watching!

    OMG, Hope, Last night I stumbled upon your assemblage art work and I sent you jusa a short note and I said that loved your thought process and I couldn't wait until this afternoon to look more of your work and boom I found these wind chimes, I had saved a lot of bottle caps I think I have at least 100 of them and an old coffee can but I couldn't think of how to put it all together, and now I get it I also went to see your Jewelry Making vids and I'm going to have a go at it.
    I know why I love your Assemblage work, its because I have so much really cool stuff that I had asked my friends to donate to me so that I could make a Memory Jug and I got so much I didn't know where to start. I used to have so much time to myself, but I really don't any more, Im the primary caretaker for my Husband who has Parkinson disease and I just put every away because I just wasn't inspired any longer. Now I feel like I'm on fire to do assemblage ( I love everything eclectic)ART. Sorry this is so long but i want to tell you a little about myself.

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  Год назад +1

      Girl, I am so thrilled to have put a fire in your soul to create again. Yay!! That's the whole reason I make these videos - to inspire. I'm not familiar with a Memory Jug and may have to look that up. Interesting! You may be inspiring me. I love to work with the old, rusty, forgotten, and undervalued objects. It gives me such joy to give them a new life where they're not lingering in some landfill. Let me know if you have any questions at all, if anything is unclear! I'm always happy to help!

    Good idea! In my house I have to paint the cans because they rust very quickly. Except for that detail, the idea is great and I thank you very much!

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  3 года назад

      Yes, I think adding the paint is a good idea for many. I live in a humid climate too and mine rusted quickly as well. However, I adore rust and the wabi sabi feel of it so I don't mind at all as that's what I had hoped it would do. It's definitely a personal choice. Thanks for recommending it.

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  3 года назад

      So glad you like this. With kids, you would definitely have to be sure that they're older since the tin, the wire, and the tools could all be dangerous for lil' uns. But, I think the materials could be altered easily enough for younger kids too. Enjoy!

  • @stacyw3250
    @stacyw3250 4 месяца назад

    Cute. I would have spray painted or decopauged the can.😅
    So, do they make a pleasant noise?

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  4 месяца назад

      Yes, decorating the can is definitely an option and would help keep them from rusting. Since I made these 3+ years ago, they have rusted beautifully, and I love that! As for their sound, it all depends on what you hang on it. The ones I made are not very loud at all, a slight tinkling. But, I love them for their decorative purposes even more.
      Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other comments!

    I can't figure out how you hung the buttons in between the objects. Did you make another hole for the jump ring to go in? Video was so fast I couldn't see how that was done. Thanks

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  Год назад

      Yeah, sorry for that. The buttons were wire-wrapped. I just used one of the holes on the buttons to insert the wire. Here's a tutorial on how I wire-wrap buttons (ruclips.net/video/FWrqG5pc0LA/видео.html). I used jump rings to connect the wire wraps to the other componanets. But, if you have large enough jump rings, you could use those just as well. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions!

      I have not! That would be awesome though. I don't really have access to any of the commercial-sized ones. Actually...I might. I'll have to ask my niece (who works in a restaurant) if they have big cans that she can keep for me. Hmmmmm 🧐 Now, you've got me thinking. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • @user-dn9vd9xg9p
    @user-dn9vd9xg9p Год назад +1

    It is safer to work from inside of the smaller cans.

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  Год назад

      I'm not sure what you mean. If you ensure that there are no burrs poking up from where you've opened your can, it should be fairly safe to work in them. But, any smaller can is going to be tougher to "work inside" just because of the smaller opening. I do advise you to always use caution and wear thick gloves if there is any chance you might be injured.

      Hey, sorry about the speed of that. I've included a link in the description to a video about how to make wrapped loops. It's much slower. I can't do anything about the speed of this one as it's over three years old, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. Just let me know!

    No deberían pasarlo a una velocidad normal para apreciar los detalles , parece q lo filmó Chaplin.

      Mis disculpas por la velocidad. Estaba tratando de asegurarme de que el video no fuera demasiado largo. Tengo un enlace a continuación que le mostrará cómo hacer bucles envueltos a una mejor velocidad. Espero que esto tenga sentido. Utilicé el traductor de google.

    I like the center one with large pendant best. How do the cookie cutter ones work? I have a bunch of cookie cutters, but I'm not going to be baking anymore. I went raw vegan, so those days are over. Lol. I'd love to use them, especially the antique ones for a cool project.😉

    Seriously, I wanted to catch all the video, from start to finish. What is your hurry? I would have enjoyed doing this but you made it a blur.

      I'm so sorry this was sped up too much. I didn't want the process to be too tedious and have been told that people lose interest if a video is too long. If you have ANY questions about it, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

      @@CraftyHope I am so glad you replied, I want to apologize to you. I was so tired and was not thinking. I know I could have just slowed it down by my settings, I don't know what bee got in my butt, but I am very sorry. Your video is great and I will be watching it again and learning. Hi Loretta, unfortunately, I can't do anything about the speed of the video now. But, if you want to slow it yourself, there's a little cog in the bottom right of the video player that you can click and adjust the speed of the video playback for yourself. I've also included a link in the description to my tutorial on making wrapped loops that should help. But, if you still have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks so much for watching!

      Hey, I hate that you don't like the speed. But, I chose to do that since the steps were so repetitive. You can slow it down by clicking the little gear-shaped button on the bottom right of the video. It controls the settings and allows you to set a slower speed. Also, if you have ANY questions about my process, I'm quite happy to help. Ask away!

      Yes, I've been told. I've learned my lesson about the speed of this. If you need to view it slower, you can hit the cog button on the video and select a slower speed. And, if you have any questions about the process, please don't hesitate to ask!

      Lol. You're definitely not the first to mention this. Sorry about that. When I made this video several years ago, I wanted it to be as short and concise as possible. I've learned from that mistake. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.
