Just speaking facts. Speed creates endurance is fact especially true for me. You provide a lot of fantastic information. Keep this up.

I recently decided to go on full sprint training again. I will do an experiment. After 2 weeks it is my last 5k. I am 47. My vo2max is 52, i run 800 in 2:54 and 5k in approx 22 minutes if i make some effort. I will test out what my vo2max and 800 is when training sprints only. I will stick to the max 200m distance feed the cats style. 2 times a week. I bookmark this page so you see the results in about one or two months if i can stick to the experiment.

Mike Boyle mentions using speed repeats to create endurance but most coaches believe the opposite, to their peril.

Remi Korchemney wrote about that in the '80s.

Coach, are you saying best sprint capacity relative to their PR? Or are you saying the best sprint capacity is just the lowest average time of the sprints?

The capacity to sprint fast over and over. Repeat sprint ability.

Help me cause I’m missing something.
I get that speed creates speed capacity.
So if the 10-40s isn’t speed work and it’s not lactic, what reason is it to do it? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Your point is correct. As a rule, don’t worry about capacity work… prioritize speed instead. We did ONE capacity workout last year the week before doing our first lactate workout. I just wanted our guys to be exposed to 400m of sprinting before doing a lactate workout. In a similar way, a sprint capacity workout (or 2-3) would be a good bridge from a sprint-focused summer to the beginning of the FB season.
      Or just sprint!!!
      Great question James!

It's also acceleration focused wich is very important for team sports
