    Hey Coach Holler, I know I already said it before, but your teaching reminds me so much of Mike Mentzer but for athletes. 40 mins in the gym/track give it everything and then literally go home and recover. Everyone literally thinks it is crazy!

      I need to look into Mike Mentzer!

      Right on!
      I did not make that connection. I was a skinny distance runner my whole life and never gained an once of muscle until I read mentzers high intensity training. Lift to near failure, 1-5 reps, 3-5 sets, add 5-10 pounds to a max pb attempt every workout. 30 minute workout. Recover 3-4 days. Zero lifting. I went from 245 to 305 on the bench and gained 25#’s.
      I think mentzers intellect will blow coach away as well. Columbu, mentzer and Schwarzenegger all contemporaries and embarrassingly high iq’s.

      @@lancastergerard no lie, I always thought how Mentzer teaching would have been if he was a coaching athlete and Coach Holler literally what I been looking for. Why are you going to do 100 reps or sprints half effort when you can work with the minimum amount and give it your all

    Injured and slow teams suck, in every sport

    I have a question regarding the X factor workouts, what’s the limit to how much exercises you do to not burn the steak for the following sprint day? Do you do multiple sets of certain ones?

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  Год назад +1

      That’s the art of it. You could do ten sets of hurdle over and unders… boring but no problem. Ten sets of pogo jumps and every sprinter has sore shins the next day. Live and learn. Err on the side of less. You can always put the steak back on the grill.

      @@coachtonyhollerthanks for the response that makes a lot of sense! Just wanted to let you know my football WEIGHTROOM coach now is using Feed the cats philosophy and it’s driving the old school coaches nuts 🤣

    What about for rugby league?

      Same as football. Performance days are at game speed in short segments with high recovery. Stacking these intense segments will build capacity and endurance without sacrificing speed and the health of athletes.
