As a Buffalo Braves fan, it was a joy to watch Bob play in the Aud many many times!!
A sin he wasn't selected as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. He was a shooting monster.
They really did blow it there, when they made that list there had only been 18 players in NBA history to be league MVP, and Bob was one of them.
John Boutet YES how do you not have as coach Rielly and Kareem said and I quote"The greatest outside shooter in NBA history" have Doo on that list.
Never heard of him but he LOOKS like a winner!
@slip satch
I think both are top 50 but McAdoo is certainly more qualified than Pistol. Dude was league MVP and led the league in scoring 3 years in a row. You talk about McAdoo getting knocked out by Havlicek, but Pistol didn't even make the playoffs with the Jazz.
An absolute tragedy and discredits that bogus list.
Bob McAdoo and David Thompson had the best jump shots ever.
A delight to watch perfect timing and release.
Magnificent acceptance speech, one of the best for the NBA Hall of Fame. Blessings to you, Bob. Enjoyed your performances with the Braves. Your match-ups against Cowens and the Celtics was a thing to behold.......classic. Indeed, as Xavier said below, you should have been one of the 50 greatest, because you definitely were. Lastly. I hope you get a head coaching job one day, for you've been an assistant "forever". All the Best to you and your family.
I was a Knick fan but loved McAdoo from the first time I saw him in his rookie year vs the Knicks at MSG. And when he got to the Knicks, I was beyond controllable. I just wish that he could have been a part of a championship with them.
My favorite NBA player of all time. Congrats Big Mac
Alfred L Walker i love big mac best big shooting big man ever more scoring moves than a snake
Bob was so happy on this nite. He is truly happy. Got his family there, thats winning.
Bob McAdoo & Randy Smith was the franchise in Buffalo New York in the seventies
And lets also remember Erine "No D" at the other guard postion. They were an exciting team to watch.
Oh Matthew, you are so wrong, but also right. The 76 Line up, at the beginning of the season was Ernie D at the Point, Randy Smith at the 2, Adrian Dantley at the 3, Bob McAdoo at the 4, and Moses Malone at the 5 , John Schumate who averaged 13 off the bench, and had Gar Heard but he was the first too go before the season started, Marvin Barnes came the next year. then when they found out how good he was BANG out of here.Sadly ownership got its wish and traded away everyone but Smith that year.
Bernard King,Dominique Wilkins,& Bob McAdoo are 3 players that should've been on the original 50 greatest players
Agree..glad Bob & Dominique on 75 List..still no Bernard King tho
Last player to average 30 pts and 15 rebounds in a game. A true stud. One of my favorite players and I only was introduced to his game as he became a Laker in 1982.
@Coogan yup a stud
I remember the trade that brought you to L. A. from a new head coach in Pat Riley. People were somewhat confused on the trade; remember when people said it was either 'McAdoo or McAdont'? Turns out it was McAdoo. A very well deserved place in the Hall of Fame!
In my opinion the best shooting big man ever.
Man, when he played on the Buffalo Braves, he lit up everyone. Such a great scorer and one cool dude.
I remember the day he was drafted by the Braves. The Buffalo News headline read, "McAdoo Can Do" I also remember sitting in the stands at the Buffalo Aud hearing the announcer proclaim after #11 scored, "Two for McAoo." Great memories!!!
He's actually an assistant coach on the miami heat right now.
I'm not sure why some great players with such stellar careers and surpme talent go underrated. Big Mac as a jump shooting, ball handling center that revolutioned the game in the 70's. He was the blueprint for guys like Dirk, Garrett, KD and other big guys that are now able to it the ball on the floor and their own shot. Why wasn't Big Mac on the All Time 50 Greatest Team.
Bob McAdoo great player
McAdoo was a scoring machine. Great player and one cool dude.
Thank you Bob from your italian fans. We 'll never forget your victories in Italy and Europe and your wonderful dive in Livorno !👏👍
Big Mac = first class. He was awesome for 4 years here in Buffalo. He owned this town. The Auditorium was absolutely electric during those Braves playoff years.
Bob, you proved to be a great basketball player and a great man. We still remember and love you in Milan for your skills, your plays, your smile, your professionality, your commitment and the great bond you immediatly built with your teammates, with the coach, with the fans and with the city of Milan. You and Mike D'Antoni would be welcome here in the coaching staff of the team. Go Olimpia!
Much appreciated by Aris Salonicco fans too. Deeply deeply appreciated
Top 35 all-time imo. #31 on my list of greatest basketball players ever
His Buffalo Braves had point guard Randy Smith, and ROY Adrian Dantley. They were great to watch
Did a great job for my lakers thanks Bob
Ball hog? That's funny. The guy had no help when he was in Buffalo! And he definitely should've been one of the 50 greatest in '97
Huh, I didn't realize he was NOT among the Top 50 Players of All Time. I have the poster and simply assumed he was one of them. I overlooked that fact. That's too bad. I think it's a definite oversight.
No Help.. His team mates in 76 were Moses Malone, Adrian Dantley, Ernie D, and Randy Smith. Pretty damn good starting line up, Gar Heard, John Schumate, and a young Marvin Barnes were also around .
@@toddstevens13 Moses was still in the ABA and afterwards went to Houston. Dantley's rookie year was the year McAdoo got traded to.the Knicks.
@@ElectricCool Moses was on the Roster opening day for the Braves. He was traded after 2 games. I was there for the home opener and saw him. Yes 76 was Dantley's rookie year, and he played right out of the shoot, playing 36 Mins a night and averaging 20.3pts a game, and 7.8 rebounds, and almost 2 assists a night.
The opening day starting roster was Ernie D, Randy Smith, Adrian Dantley, Bob McAdoo and Moses Malone.
Love Bob Mcadoo! One of the greats! Great speech!
BOB SEI UN MITO!
Watch his highlights. He did a lot of things Centers are supposedly doing for the first time now when I was a little kid. It's 2020 and I'm 53 years old.
Another Great but underated modest kind of MAN
I had to get a new team after early 70’s lakers broke up and followed jimmy McMillan to buffalo and was lucky enough to watch bob perform for those years! A great team sabotaged by bad ownership situation..
Awesome 👌
Beuatiful.!
6:50 the legend, Red Auerbach.
Big Mac was a joy to watch especially with the Buffalo Braves in the early 70s.

VERY underrated
We had a guy friend in our neighborhood whom we gave that nickname to so so smooth
No ball hogg when you could shoot like him just
True story at Gsw game vs Buffalo 74 or 5 Mac can do struggled in the first half against the Ws. He got fouled in the second half made both fTs then went off 50plus later Braves won . Amazing scorer plus he was an all round player blocks steals . But when he pulled up to shoot money.
You go Bob McAdoo
Should have been one of the 50 greatest players.
That 50 greatest list got so many holds in it, not to be taken literally.
What was in the water in N.C.
I always wanted to ask Jack Ramsay if he could have taken Mac to Portland if that would have worked out. If a great scorer who needed a lot of shots would have fit in with that passing oriented Blazers team.
BOB MCADDOOO BOB MCADOOO BOB
McAdoo should've been Top 50 instead of Shaq.
The people who are in aw of Kevin Durant and claim him as the most unstoppable scorer they ever seen, must have never seen Bob McAdoo, he would florist in this soft defense era
Sweetest jump shòt ever.
There are no players on the top 50 list that could guard Bob McAdoo ask Kareem.I agree that Bernard King and Dominique Wilkins should also be on the top 50 list.
Greensboro baaaaby!!!
7 ships 2 NBA 2 euro league and 3 with Erik spoelstra
1 of Greensboro's finest. BLS fly eagles fly
His son coach my team
Bill Walton had one good year and he made the list. Wow Doo was scoring champion NBA's rookie of the year two rings. ,and the winner of the NBA"s only one-on-one championship against the Great. Connie Hawkins his rookie season.how do you leave him off a list that has David Robinson Patrick Ewing those guys couldn't Carry Doo's jockstrap!!!!!!
Most underrated player of all time?
Yeah they should’ve had him and Dominique Wilkins on there
And took off Scottie pippen
they say kevin durant is one of a kind.. lols
he is. McAdoo was special in his own way. KD isn't a real big man, you have to agree: He would never average 15RPG. Durant has guardlike handles and agility on the other hand
jjays otag he plays like kervin but bob is better
Markus Kügle bob mcadoo best shooting man ever
Oh how I wished the ownership did not on purpose destroy the Braves franchise, as they had the players to win Championships. Captain Jack would of stayed, and their lineup would of been starters Ernie D, Randy Smith at the 2, Adrian Dantley at the 3, Bob McAdoo at the 4 and Moses Malone at the 5, with Gar Heard, Marvin Barnes et al, coming off the bench.
USMC No 11 Ur forever a Laker. HOF
how was he a ball hog? the man has 2 rings
I know. If a man can score he can score. Are you going to waste Mac's scoring skills? Elgin Baylor's? Rick Barry's? Michael Jordan's? Bernard Kings? I don't think so
Tar Heel
He wasnt as good as abdul jabbar at anything except outside shooting. He could play but got schooled by those 70s celtics teams.
Lew Alcindor was a different monster all together
mcadoo was as good as jabbar in the 70's
Emily Hirsch bob mcadoo was a better jump shooter
bob mcadoo is good in free throws
