Just found this video. Nice Kerambit play bro. Btw, thank you for mentioning Indonesia as the origin of this wonderful weapon...since not many acknowledge and mentions it. I am a firm believer of rightfully putting where credits are due.

We agree, and try to give credit where credit is due whenever possible. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

I would love to see a video demonstrating it in multiple defense manners, crowded areas, being attacked with it and attacking with it. Also a demo of it going against a normal folding knife, and using its intimidation factor to escape a heated moment. Showing good and bad.

Excellent ideas. We'll see what we can do to address some of these requests in future videos. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Patrick for your detailed insights on the CRKT Provoke, I just wanted your advice on a few questions related to karambits as I was planning on buying one for Kali / Silat training (but potentially self-defense as well if needed). I'm interested in a few different Karambits namely the Fox 599 (or Fox 599XT with Emerson Wave feature) and the CRKT Provoke Compact but want to ensure either of these tools would meet my needs. I'm not interested in a fixed blade just folders.
    1. As I will be flipping the karambit quite regularly in reverse grip for training, do you think the CRKT Provoke Compact be robust enough for me to use in that way? I will be flipping the karambit constantly for different moves and practice strikes.
    2. The slide mechanism of the folding karambit will need to be super strong because if I am spinning the Karambit in a fast pace way often for longer periods of time, I do not want the blade to be able to close back in. That seems to have been an issue with typical folding style karambits, some of them use a "liner lock" which can fail and the blade can close prematurely on the operator. I've read the Fox 599 had this issue. There's also "backlock" type of mechanism like in the Fox 599 XT version. The Provoke doesn't seem to need to use either so I just want to ensure this product would be robust and strong enough that I can practice my martial arts without it failing on me. Any views on the sliding mechanism and how tough it would be for training?
    3. Is there a way to have the CRKT Provoke karambit engage right away from the pocket? I've seen Karambits like the Fox 599/Emerson with the "Wave" feature, that seem to be able to engage in a split second from an operator's pocket when needed. I was interested in something like that, could the CRKT Provoke Compact do that and open up in a split second straight from the pocket/sheath? If so how would that work?

Thanks for watching! Here's my feedback to your questions:
      1) The Provoke is definitely sturdy, so you shouldn't have any problems flipping it or handling it in any way (unless you plan to use it as a hammer, hahaha).
      2) I'm guessing when you say "sliding mechanism" you're referring to the blade's lock which keeps it locked in the open position. The Provoke doesn't use a liner lock, but a totally unique locking mechanism. You need two hands to disengage the locking mechanism, so I can't see a way for the blade to close unintentionally unless it's been damaged in some way. However, my Provoke is quite robust and I don't see that happening ... at least to the one I have.
      3) Actually, yes, the Provoke is a pocket-deploy knife (similar to the Emerson Wave Feature). I don't think it was intentionally built to be a pocket-deploy, but it turned out that way. Just wear it in your front pants pocket, loop your index finger into the ring, and pull it up and back (just like with the Emerson Wave) and the Provoke will catch on the corner of your pocket and deploy as it comes out.
I hope my answered helped! Of course, these are just my opinions. Research and pressure-testing will be the only way to make sure a tool is right for you.

Well one thing is certain, CRKT now knows how to adapt it to meet your needs as a pro. Not being interested in the Provoke due to it's size particularly it's thickness: do you have an ideal karambit you recommend? I really wanted to like this, but I have large hands and am already weighed down by my daily carry items..

"Ideal" is a relative term. What may be awesome for one person could be horrible for the next. The best way to answer this is to first learn what you're looking for: large, small, slim, cheap or expensive. Next is to determine what's the purpose of carrying it? EDC, utility, self-defense, other? Depending on the answers, the types of karambit could vary wildly.

Anytime I see some expert twirling on of hthese knives on his finger as some kind of offensive/defensive tactic, I roll my eyes and laugh.

I'll pass, altho I am getting interested in karambits. They should have consulted you before producing this knife. But, since when does anybody these days think of of adequate and appropriate preparation? Cheaper to throw stuff up and see what sticks! "Ooooooooo! How creative!!" ;-)
