    Really happy to find a workout Guy who doesn’t automatically assume you’re in top shape. I couldn’t be in any worse shape lol! This workout has given me some hope (even thought I’m just at 2.7 mph after 3 weeks). But definitely making progress. Please more videos for older, overweight, out of shape people. Stay gentle until we see for ourselves it’s not hopeless. Inch by inch!

      @@Frankwallfitness hey Frank - okay so thank you for replying to my comment. I took a look at part two of the beginners treadmill workout you sent me and here are my thoughts. Immediately I said to myself why did he jump to a 30 min workout from 10 mins? I would have preferred 5 min increases 15, 20, 25, then 30. Perhaps that’s because I’m 64. Maybe you can do a “senior beginners treadmill workout” that progresses at a slower pace. I do your ten minute workout twice, with a break in the middle now. Two ten minute workouts seems far less daunting than one 20 min one to me. It’s just less psychologically intimidating. I love how fast the ten minutes goes by. I think in time I could do ten minute ones 5-6 times a day. I find it much easier than even one 30 minute one. It may not be as beneficial as one long workout but I’d need triple the mental discipline to even start one 30 minute one. The 10 minute ones are ideal for me.

      Hey Diane, sorry to hear about those surgeries😥
      I just had ACL surgery March 1st, & being diligent with my rehab helped me so much.
      This is a workout that I made for a friend to help with their hip pain.
      I even had a client put off hip surgery using this workout twice a week when he was cleared to begin physical therapy.
      It would be hard for me to say if this was right for you or not without seeing how you move in an assessment.
      But, this is a video that helps with my hips, & it may or may not help you.

      What if you got a treadmill no incline on it?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  3 года назад

      That's ok! Just start with the speed slowly.
      You may even start by holding either some water bottles in your hands, or a few light 2-3lb dumbbells to start.
      Every week, try and bump the speed up 0.2mph or so for the next 8 weeks.
      Once you get to a speed that you feel is your maximum, stay there.
      Work on consistently trying this 3 days a week for starters💪🏼
      Please keep me posted on your progress and definitely let me know if you need any more help🙏🏼✌🏼

    • @Frankwallfitness

      @Najmeela Nelson It happens to all of us when trying something risky and new for the first time.
      Try lowering the speed first.
      Take it easy.
      Walk in control.
      Pay attention to each footstep making sure both feet are pointed straight when you walk, heel to toe.
      This is so important as not paying attention to how your feet are pointed when walking can lead to knee, hip, and lower back issues.
      Master walking slowly in control before going faster.
      Use your hands only for a reference point when you need it.
      You got this💪🏼💯✌🏼

    I’m 140kg after years of yoyo’ing. This is the heaviest I have been after years of decent fitness! Stress and heartbreak have assisted in breaking my previously impenetrable
    will-power, but today I woke up and felt different! I found this video and for the first time in a long time I jumped on the treadmill. It hurt! But I did it, I’m dripping with sweat and I vow to do this everyday until I am back to 100kg and happy again. I don’t care what anyone says, when you are fat, you are never happy within yourself. You can’t buy clothes, you feel ugly in the clothes you have and not because society dictates that, but because you can’t walk a flight of stairs either and you know in your heart this is not the way you should be.
    Sorry if I have offended
    Anyone But I served in a high trained elite squad and now I am a physical mess, and at 45 ( 16th June) it’s now or never to save my life and enjoy what time I have left. Thank you for making this video, it inspired me in ways that many others couldn’t. It’s simple and it’s what I needed. Thank you
    Savio

    Hi Frank, I am now on my 38th treadmill workout for this specific one and then your 2nd treadmill video. I do this one first and then the second one but have adjusted that one for my fitness level. I am working my way up in incline and have made it to staying at 5 the whole time and getting up to level 8 for the remainder. I am on the treadmill for approx 40-45 min each day if I can, but I have taken a day off every so often if I feel I need it. I have lost 1 inch off my lower legs in swelling from my edema and my legs are toning up, still have a long weight to go but I am feeling a lot better. I have not been able to do the arm workouts due to hurting my rotator cuff, but am still enjoying the walking part. Thank you so much for putting these videos up, it is truly changing my life for the better!!!!

      @@Frankwallfitness I go to a chiropractor for ultrasound on my legs, and he also works on my neck as I injured it many years ago. He gave me exercises to do with bands for my shoulder. I will check out your video for rehab. We are going away for a few days and I am a bit stressed about not having access to a treadmill. lol got so used to it. @@Frankwallfitness Thanks Frank. I did get walks in and there were lots of hills to climb so I got my incline work. Hit a goal today of getting down to 150 from 167. So proud of myself for continuing to work out and stay with it. My goal is 130, and I will get to it. Fit into Med track pants today, sounds silly but I feel so much better. Thanks so much for your encouragement, It means alot!!

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад

      That's amazing!
      I would honestly recommend from this point forward to focus on getting strong.
      If you just try and get to your goal of 130 and focus on that only, I believe you might just become a smaller version of where you are now.
      If you focus on getting strong, you can start burning more calories at rest, while also looking better in a betting suit for example.
      Because if you hit 130, then what?
      Your body will be extremely susceptible to weight gain without the extra muscle, as muscle requires more calories to be taken in to sustain itself than fat does.
      I just want to bring this to your attention as I used to get fixated on the scale myself.
      And generally when I focused on cutting weight...I was weaker and had less energy, and there was no way I could maintain that weight for a long period of time unless I had my strength built up.
      Congrats on the medium pants!
      You're getting so much closer to the body your want... and I know you'll see better results through strength training at this point.
      Keep focusing on your food... and remember, Cardio is just the tip.of the iceberg💪🏼

    After consistently following this similar interval treadmill workout 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes, I've seen incredible improvements over the past 11 months! I'm proud to share that I've already lost 20lbs and my cardio fitness improved, as measured by the Apple Health App with my Apple Watch, has significantly increased. My VO2 Max has gone from a “Low” 20.02 to a now “Below-Average” 30.02, and I'm determined to keep pushing myself further to increase it to “High”. I feel amazing and energized! Recently, I tackled a 15% incline without holding onto the treadmill, and surprisingly, it felt easy without feeling any lung burn. I can tell that my body has gotten stronger over the past few months, and I'm grateful for the progress I've made. 🙏🏼

    I’m 61 and get on the treadmill every other night. I alternate between a stationary bike and the treadmill in the winter months. I had a pacemaker implanted and two catheter ablations a year ago so keeping my heart healthy is a priority. I start at 2.7 mph and 2.0 on the incline, then every 5 minutes I’ll increase the speed .1 and .5 on the incline. I’ll do this for 2 miles. When the weather is nice, I always walk outside and go up as many hills as I can find where I live.

      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад

      Nice, you could try Part 1, then go into Part 2 right after if you're feeling more comfortable.
      Also, rather than worrying about the speed so much on Part 2, you could try just keeping the incline up the whole time.
      The best variable I like using is the amount of incline you can sustain, as that is what helps you burn more calories making your legs work harder, not necessarily the speed.
      If you want to try something a little different but are not ready for jogging yet, you could substitute jogging for extra incline walking on Part 4.

      This routine is a little more Dynamic and challenges your legs differently.

    Would you please teach us how we can calculate the heart rate zone when is burning fat .it is for age or for weight?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад +1

      Hey Nayda! Generally, I like to use the simple formula of 180 - your age. Then. you can add anywhere to + or - 10.depending on how conditioned and physically fit you are.
      That generally gives a pretty good estimate of your Anerobic Threshold. That's the point at which your body loses the ability to procees oxygen and burn fat.
      Which, anything below this zone will focus more on burning through fat stores.
      Training above this zone isn't a bad thing, as for example if you went on an all out sprint for 30 seconds, more than likely your heart rate would go above your Anerobic Threshold, and that's ok. The only thing is you wouldn't want to keep your heart rate extremely elevated in those zones unless you are properly trained for it.
      The best way to find your most accurate levels is to get a Metabolic Test performed. Generally, you'll run on a treadmill for a certain period of time and they will measure your oxygen levels to see where your body is burning fat the most in certain heart rate zones.
      I've done this every few years, and for me so far, it's within a few BPM (beats per minute) . l last did the test in 2016 and my Threshold on the test measured
      147 BPM. Right now, I'm 37. So
      180 - 37 is 143. Add 10, 153, that's still pretty close.
      To find your estimated heart rate, you can place two fingers on your wrist or either just next to the midline of your next (where the soft tissue is)
      Count the number of beats in 15 seconds and multiply by 4.
      Obviously, it's much easier to use a heart rate monitor that has a chest strap as it can measure it more accurately.
      Does any of this make sense?
      I'll probably do a video on this soon!

  • @jam4150

    I don't think my treadmill has an incline thing can I still do this?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад +1

      You can still do this! Just use these 10 minutes to get used to walking at a very comfortable pace.
      Walking for a Minimum of 10 minutes a day is completely safe, unless you have some inflammation or tight spots in your lower body that need to be treated.
      Entry week You could try and increase the speed .2 miles an hour until you get to a comfortable working pace.
      Personally,. I usually walk between 3.5 to really no more than 3.7 mph.
      I like making the incline a little more challenging as it incorporates your glutes and Hamstrings more.
      The harder your glutes work, the more calories you can potentially burn.👌🏼
      Although,. You could try this treadmill routine (part 2 to this workout), and let me know how that goes?
      ruclips.net/video/ZGTP-O1iYS4/видео.html
      You don't have to worry about using the incline, but having an incline really does help make a difference in the intensity of the workout and creating a higher total amount of calories burned💯

    Hello Frank, great video ! Could you do a video walking at about 4.4 mph with your arms folded in front of you, for about 2 miles. I am 62 and always walk at 4.4 mph for two miles. I walk with my arms folded, only do I unfold my arms when I get close to 5 mph. I have never seen anyone walk that way, is that normal, or am a little weird?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  Год назад

      Do you know why you walk with your arms folded?
      Personally, I would never walk that fast myself. I would try something totally different.
      I would show down my pace to about 2.5 or 3 mph, and I would focus on the incline. I would try starting at level 10, working your way to level 15, increasing the incline. 5 every minute on this workout.
      I'm borderline jogging at 4.4 mph. that's too fast for me. I never walk above 3.5 - 3.7 myself.
      I only hold my hands over my head briefly and move them in circles sometimes while running to help with circulation.
      You actually want to sway your arms for 3 reasons.
      #1 You will get a better cardiovascular workout. You'll work your shoulders, biceps, & triceps a little bit more while moving your arms.
      #2 You will improve posture and core engagement. Pumping you arms helps maintain an upright posture. Doing this can help strengthen your core muscles and help properly align your spine.
      #3 You will have better rhythm & speed (although you already walk very fast, this is just in general).
      The pumping motion synchronized with your legs moving helps create a natural rhythm across your entire body. Actively using your arms helps create. more momentum and drive.
      Overall, pumping your arms while walking gives you much more of an effective workout.
      This same thing applies to running and sprinting.
      As an alternative, I HIGHLY recommend an assault bike as you will be FORCED to use your arms & legs simultaneously💯

    I’m gonna start working on a treadmill for the first time today, cause I gotta relieve some stress that I have because apparently doing weightlifting training is not enough. I gotta start doing cardio which seems it’s much more effective in relieving stress away from your body.

    • @Frankwallfitness

      I also feel implementing Circuit Training. could help too. This would be performing a handful of strength & resistance based exercises back to back with little rest in between.
      This will give you cardiovascular benefits as well.

      I have not done any kind of resistance or Body weight exercise. I checked out your Bodyweight program and I think I will prayerfully try it for 30 days. What should my diet look like? My downfall is chips and French fries. I’m not a seafood person. Veggies are not a problem. I’m trying to lose weight, feel better and just be healthier. I’m a little afraid of the Assault Bike. I will use the Treadmill workouts. Maybe I’ll conquer my fear of the Assault Bike. Thanks Frank for your guidance.

      Try not to let anyone trying to tell you to do some crazy diet confuse you.
      Eat Protein with every meal, eat tons of veggies. If you're craving bread or you feel your energy is low, use sweet potatoes for your larger carbs.
      Snack on Low Glycemic fruits that don't spike blood sugar levels.
      My favorites are berries of any kind, grapefruit, apples, pears, & those little cuties or tiny mandarin oranges.
      Try drinking at least 90 ounces of water a day.
      That should cover the basics, & I pray my Nutrition video will answer a few more questions you might have💪🏼

      I watched your nutrition video and I had a question about bread. You mentioned in your response that if I craved bread to eat sweet potatoes. So no bread? What about fruits such as grapes, cantaloupe and pineapples. Is drinking coffee and juices ok? I’m trying to get more water in, that was challenging today.

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  11 месяцев назад

      @clereasesimmons5987 Try not having bread for 30 days. Just think if what you're eating it doesn't grow from the ground or is a lean source of protein, it's probably not good for you.
      If you're going to do bread, try ezekiel toast. It's found in the frozen section.
      Bread isn't necessarily bad, but early in your nutrition journey, grains tend to have us pack on weight unless we are doing A LOT of strength training to utilize those extra carbs.
      Grapes & pineapples are much sweeter with a higher sugar content, so they are best consumed after workouts in moderation.
      Juices are loaded with sugar as well. You should only drink them if freshly squeezed, & even then, I would make sure you had a strenuous workout so your body can absorb those carbohydrates easier.

    You emphasize keeping our hands off the treadmill while walking, but I seem to lose my balance. I'm 74 and I can walk outside just fine but it seems with the treadmill, the ground in moving under me and it throws my balance off, I can leave one hand off at a time and work the free side then switch. The speed at 3.3 is good for me and the incline at up to 10 is ok for me, But I am new to a treadmill, it's only 5 days old. Thank You For This Video!

      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад +1

      Hey Chris, HUGE congrats on the weight loss man, I know that isn't easy💪🏼
      Don't worry about the speed at all.
      I'd actually prefer you to try and start at 2 mph to warmup and just work the incline first like in the video, just to see how you feel first.
      Speed is the last variable I want you to worry about.
      Think about using the incline more importantly. Once you finish this workout, see how you feel. If you are ok, try to keep that level 10 incline and keep walking. another 5 minutes.
      You'll burn more calories by working your glutes harder with an incline walk, it's so much more efficient if you're able to do it.
      Try keeping your hands off of the treadmill. If you find yourself having to hold on, reduce the speed or incline if it's too much for you.
      Keep me posted on how this workout goes!

      Saucony Ride ISO 2. I bought them last year in 2020 and my first pair in 2016. They are great!
      I love My ON Cloud shoes for just leisure, but they are a great light jogging shoe.
      I use my my ON Cloudventure trail shoes for any running outdoors.
      I also have clients that Love the Brooks adrenaline & ghost shoes too.
      I'm not sure where you live, but these two companies in Georgia are amazing and can answer any questions you have about shoes. If you visit the store, they can help fit you fit the right shoe. You could try calling them, and maybe they could help you out?

    Would you recommend this as a warm up before jogging? If so, how should I layer it?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely! Try this workout a your warmup..... Drop the incline back down, then try this one.

      @@Frankwallfitness Will do man, really appreciate it! I'm planning on going 4-5 times a week for about an hour at a time, do you think that's gonna be beneficial at all or not? I'm also doing some home dumbbell workouts, but don't know how to structure those right now. My main goal is to cut some weight and gain back some muscle in my arms before I go on vacation in mid-june, I'm not expecting extreme results but even 4/5kg would be nice for me. I'm just taking tips from everyone I can and I'm gonna try my best to keep to them.

    Hey frank fahim here. I am not new to treadmill and have been doing it for a year now. I am not in a good shape because i left treadmill many times and ate unhealthy food alot. I am currently 13 years old and i weight 92 kgs. I want to lose atleast 42 kgs. I usually walk at 6 or 7 but some of my relatives are saying that walking that fast may cause knee injury. I usually keep the incline 0. Can you tell me a perfect speed and incline for weight loss quickly?

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад

      I would stick to between 4 & 5.5 kmh myself, and master the Incline Walk.
      Have you tried this workout?
      Go at a slower spees and see how the incline feels at the end of this workout and let me know?
      Try not to focus on losing weight fast. Focus on being strong, & focus on your nutrition.
      Watch this video next.
      ruclips.net/video/-cfm0fTttEw/видео.html
      Cardio is great, but if you really want to see your body change,. I would add in some Bodyweight Exercise, like in this video.
      ruclips.net/video/5k9BS0toc7g/видео.html
      There is no perfect speed or incline, just one that you can handle and that gets your heart rate up while comfortably working.
      I generally like to walk at 3 miles per hour at a level 10 incline. That works for me as a nice Warmup, or at the end of a workout.
      Let me know if you watch those videos so I can help guide you in the right direction💪🏼

      @@Frankwallfitness If i just use the treadmill everyday will it be enough for weight loss because i only get the time to use treadmill because of my classes and school etc.

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад

      You can do more than just the treadmill, you have time for Bodyweight Exercise.
      If you have time to use the treadmill, you have 10 to 20 minutes to do Exercise.
      There is PLENTY of time especially if you are in school. Your HEALTH is Your number one priority.
      If you're making lots of money and have poor health, you can't enjoy a good quality of life.

    • @Frankwallfitness
      @Frankwallfitness  2 года назад

      Remember, if you're just focused on weight loss, especially at your age, you'll just be a smaller version of what you already are, and you won't have as much muscle definition.
      You will make time for what's important to you. If you do not understand how to do something, seek clarity on how to do it instead of avoiding it.
      You should try playing a sport like soccer where can run around alot and get in shape while having fun playing outdoors.
      The Treadmill alone is not a long term solution.
      It helps, but only if your weight & resistance training is at a priority first.
      Most importantly is your nutrition.
      Please watch this video so you can change your food first.
      No amount of cardio will help you lose weight if you are not eating properly.
