I was so confused which of the 2 to shut off, I didnt want to turn off the one beneath the meter in case that messed with pressure, this video is the ONLY one I could find that mentioned why there are 2 and which to pull (its either), so THANK YOU

Just a suggestion: Always turn off the valve closest to the inside of the house. That way if it fails or leaks, the valve closest to the street is a backup to close the water. If the street side valve fails or leaks, then bigger issues arise. With that having been said, ball valves very rarely fail. Nice video.

You also answered my question about the hot water heater. Best video.

At my home, the shut off valve is above the water heater in the garage. The water line comes into front of my home into the crawl space, then the water line goes winding/curving around the crawl space and then goes up 10-12 feet to the right corner of my garage. Nobody told me where this valve was when I bought the home. Most of these types of videos focus on homes with a basement but don't mention any other places water can be entering the house.

Thank you for this comment cause my house doesn't have a basement so the hot water heater is in the laundry room and the shut off was above it just like you said. 😊

Great helpful video. How can you determine if a second shut off valve exists in my home? Beyond the main shut off valve managed by the city meter location. Would the city where i live know if and where there is a second shut off valve? For homes with no basements in the south central region.

The point starts at 1:18. But this is the first video that explains why there are 2 valves, and that either one will work to shut off water. Other videos just pick one and say it's the shut off, while there's another identical one in the frame, causing confusion.

This video is location specific. I’m in Georgia and we have the meter at the street and the water can be shutoff there with a meter key. There is one whole home master shutoff valve inside the house.
