amazing video and job, can you illustrate a shower seat install sometime in the future, I like the design and it looked like you are able to put it down vertically and in the horizontal position for use as well. Love to get a tutorial video on that sometime, thanks brother. Love your designs
BRAVO! Hello from Wednesday, June 19, 2024. 501k subs!! Incredible success. Soo happy for your channel ... don't forget about us little guys watching you blast off to the MOON
Nice work! Excellent skill and finised product looks great! The only question is how the waterproofing of the niche inside corners and around the drain is done. Combing the tile for the perfectly flat surface should be fine, but I prefer combining substrate and back-buttering tile. Keep up the good work!
Where I am you can't use green board or any drywall product in a shower, inspector's won't pass it. Does not matter what you cover it with. You can only used boards stamped "Tile backer" - cement boards, durarock, kerdi etc.
Great video, hey I have a question. If I installed the mud bed mix from mapei on a slab, and I didn’t bond it with thin set, is it the end of the world type of thing? Do I need to rip it out and start over I guess is what I’m asking?
I am learning so much from you and finally did my first restroom reno and watched all your vids.. question how the heck do you keep the thinset from seeping out the creases and stay so clean!!!..😂
I'm still trying to figure all this out. It looks like you have cement board on the ceiling. I assume you don't tape the seems like you would with regular drywall or do you? Assuming you use a different product to tape the seems, do you end up sanding like you would on drywall to get a smooth finish before painting. I have not come across a video showing what do on the ceiling.
Should you have primed the walls prior to thin setting your waterproof membrane? Should you be worried about adhesion issues with the raw joint compound?
Yeah he messed that one up. I've been building showers for years and you need to paint those walls before applying membrane. Also, mastic adhesive is not permitted for use with that membrane. It has to be unmodified thinset.
That is very simple. He left it there to keep the toilet flange protected while he does everything else, because the toilet gets set last. Takes 5 minutes to prepare it when it is time to install the toilet.
@@jt5747 I guess you can if you build up the rest of the floor but by the time you get slope in the shower pan how high is the rest of the floor gonna be? The transition from the bathroom to the next room is gonna be really tall
@@jason-44 The videos I saw end up saw cutting the concrete a couple of inches into the concrete, chipping that out and then using deck mud to create a slope slightly below the rest of the foundation. It's a lot of work, but can be done. Is it worth it? Maybe. All good except no support for top of inset after cutting supporting lumber out. You should frame a header in before wall board is installed and cut out after. With the angled roof line it can cause major problems down the road. In the future if the roof lumber lines up with the lumber you are cutting out it is a supporting leg and needs a header installed.
So, it's just a bathroom with a floor drain? It's not an industrial kitchen, it's a residential bathroom. Serious overkill where a perimeter floor drain would have made it a real CURBLESS shower
You should explain how to then. Because I do this daily. And other than no separate heat cable for the shower, this is a well-built guru shower. I would love to hear on what levels you consider this wrong.
The niche should have been built BEFORE the wall was waterproofed. The membrane should have been installed. And then the wall membrane placed over the top (especially above the niche). Now there is the potential for water to get behind the upper niche membrane. And I can’y tell if the bottom of the niche and the shelf were sloped to allow for water to drain off.
@@1packatak yeah no, that's not correct. Schluter, a very similar product to guru has stated many times that there is no specific order to the banding. Walls first, corners first, doesn't matter. So the overlap is irrelevant. And we don't build our niche until AFTER the first rows of tile are installed. we get perfect niches on grout lines
@@larrys5733well I can tell you the tile guy who just did my modified curbless shower said it is important. He does Schluter. He’a been doing tile work for almost 40 yrs. The large piece of glass you have would be more stable over time if you had put in a modified curb under it to support the weight. I have about a 1 1/2 inch curb under mine. It would also make way more sense to put the shower valves farther towards the back. It would prevent getting sprayed with cold water when you turn the shower on. And by doing an initial layout, you can easily center your niche on grout lines. My guy did.
Why would he comment? You clearly have no idea what you're saying. I build showers daily. Other than the heating cable in the shower needing to be a separate run, this is a well built shower. Your Dunning-kreuger is on full display with your 10 comments on this video
This guy's on another level and his videos are top notch as well.
Awesome on installing the large piece of membrane in the niche and creating seamless flashing all in one! Excellent!!!!
Man, you are a fast worker.I hope you're doing this job.Peace work and not by the hour

Hi Winni, what an Amazing work , Came out really nice 👍

Great video... only thing I'd love would be voice over for context so everyone can hear what's happening. 🙏🏾

Did you use a roller to put the thin set on the walls???
Nice I love it!

What is the shower base material? Is looks like sand mix concrete, is there any other white something add in?
How do you do the water leak test in a curbless shower? doesn't code requires that you fill the shower and let it sit overnight?
Should you have primed the walls prior to thin setting your waterproof membrane? Should you be worried about adhesion issues with the raw joint compound?

Dope! 🔥❤️
Is there glue in the soap box?
I like the ditra system! Except for the fact it's upside down!!!!
If it wasn't upside down, withe the heating it could have been good! 😂
The shower niche back, is not greenboard.. Just regular plaster.
Not really a how to but still looks good
I need to see this video with a concert slab
OMG! Why would you leave the wax ring on the sewer flange??
That is very simple. He left it there to keep the toilet flange protected while he does everything else, because the toilet gets set last. Takes 5 minutes to prepare it when it is time to install the toilet.
how do you do this on concrete?
You can't do a curbless shower on concrete.
@@jason-44 actually you can. Since asking this, I have found several videos of it being done.

It looks like you have built a “wet room” like they have in Japan.
Only much bigger!
now i know how to do this 😂
This guy is fuckin awesome!!!
Yeah is great, but question, the floor before finishing the wall??, want that damage the flooring
It's something.
Wow
Sorry guys I love the video though!!
Dude omg no staples in a shower pan and no wire ,just a 6 to 1 mix drypack on floor.....it's in the CTI bookbuddy!
Dude!
Monster
😍👍
Unfortunetly it leaks
Hi im here for the free donuts!?
Skadoosh
Nope! You're wrong you're deter is upside down!!
Every curbless shower I've built had a 1/4" per foot slope outside the shower pan too......
So your bathroom is a 3/4-1 1/2 out of level great job.
So making a curbless shower involves putting a curb up all the way around the perimeter of the room, got it lol
My boss took a ditra schluter course! To get certified! Maybe I got learned wrong from him!???!?????? So sorry maybe I'm wrong!!!!
What the hell was that?
I watch the whole video again! You put all the ditra schluter upside down!!!!!!!!
So you watched the video twice. And STILL think it's ditra? It's strata-mat.
Looks good but you did it all wrong of course, it’s lacking bastio you need more bastio. I’m a pro of 2 weeks and I would have had so much more bastio
😂
To much Potty
