Fun watch guys! 2 things I noticed, the Airborne SMGs have the Assault rule, so they do not suffer the -1 for moving and shooting. That pretty much means a US squad doesn't suffer that penalty unless they're packing an lmg. Also, HE shots from the tanks, you select a single target and if you hit that target you resolve damage for the template. (Those hits inflicted by the template can be halved by going down; if the target has not yet activated).
I also see that someone else already pointed this out further down... so ignore me... ;)

On reviewing the video we know we got some of the rules wrong, around pin markers, morale, and blast weapons... now we understand how we went wrong and will get them correct in the next battle report.... hope you enjoy this one, please help us by pointing out any other rules we got wrong.. thanks the Geeks

SMGs and Assault Rifles are assault weapons and don't take the -1 to hit for moving and shooting. Also, after the Airborne MMG was reduced to a single man, it would be taking a -1 to hit on top of any other modifiers.
Also, the heavier weapons (like the anti-tank guns) add their Pen modifier to damage rolls; in this case based on the size of the blast marker for the HE shots.
I'm new to BA but I think I read somewhere that when entering and leaving buildings you need to run. Could be way off though. Please keep up the BA content

Looking forwards to seeing you guys doing more Bolt Action, I enjoyed the couple of battle reports you've done so far.
Great video. A few things came up while you guys were playing though. When shooting any gun that uses HE (like the 75mm in this game) you have to roll one die to see if you hit and then you put the template down and then roll for kills. Another thing is, when your squad takes 50% casualties during one enemy firing action your squad must then take a moral test. If they fail, they run and leave the board and the game. The last thing that I will suggest is that you guys look up the rules for "Assaults", because at certain points in this game you guys should of been using them and at one point you would of HAD to use them. Because your guys were within one inch of a building the enemy was occupying. The assault rifles and SMG's don't suffer a minus one for movement either.

So round 1 doesn't use the sherman to try and take out the hanomag but instead uses its cannon against troops while having a coaxial MMG available. Then in round 2 tries to shoot the hanomag but does not shoot its hull MMG at the troops sitting right in front of the tank. Those simple mistakes is what i felt led to this defeat. I think more practice is needed for the American player

really fancy getting into bolt action ( even more so after watching several of your battle reports). just need to find out if there are any other players in my local area. if i do , i think i would go with the brits. you dont see many battle reports with them. new to war gaming but really like the look of this.

I know I'm too late, but just a small intel' : HE shots do make special damage. In your case, this panzer IV does HE2" , so it's D3 pin markers and it has +2Pen to wound the infantry ! (you've also forgot the Pen for the hanomag's canon). Wouldn't have changed the result of the game anyways ;)

A couple of rules correction for you guys when firing a HE weapon you roll 1 die to hit the your roll dice equal to models under the template also SMG and assult rifles have the assualt rule which does not give a -1 to hit for moving
Thanks for that, we found the HE rule after filming so will get that right for next time. I've just found the assault weapon rule, thanks for the heads up.

Great bat rap as always guys. It'll be good to get some more BA on the channel. New units for the forces. Mortars are handy, armoured cars are fun. And more support units like artillery, bazookas or panzershreks, flame throwers are lethal. Also you guys thinking of collaborative games of BA or challenge games? If so I've got a couple of painted armies to 1k. And a small RUclips channel l run with a mate.

Nice looking game. Were you playing first edition as I noticed some rule snafus like HE from the gun needs to hit first,then you go to the template. Also assault rifles and SMGs don’t suffer-1 for moving. But always good to see Bolt Action games
Ah sorry should have read the other comments! Yeah you got a couple of things wrong but as long as you were consistent and enjoyed it, it’s all good! You might want to add a mortar and maybe a bazooka team for flavour

thanks for the video! one question: @8:14 why does the us squad get a pin? they didnt get hit by the german fire. only 6 followed by a 6 scores a hit.
I'm thinking of getting in to Bolt Action and this looks roughly like the forces I'm thinking of (Basically the Band of Brothers box with 1 tank per side added). For the Germans I'll get the Pz IVH, but which Sherman would be the best fit for the American side, the M4A3 or basic Sherman (from the available Warlords models) ?
Just make sure you get an American tank that has roughly the same "point value" as the german one. Or else you could end up having one tank that heavily out guns the other and has much better armour. It would be like a king tiger going up against a Stuart. Both are tanks but obviously one is much bigger than the other. Just make sure that doesn't happen that's all. And some tanks are used during early war, mid war, or late war, make sure they are compatible for the games you would be playing. Because once again, obviously the late war tanks will be better than the early or mid war tanks.

Just noticed you have yourself minus one for movement with SMG. They're assault weapons which means no minus for movement. The only weapon the American army had a minus for movement with is the light machine gun.

My dream game would be 40k with the BA ruleset.
Its not gonna happen since the crew at GW seems hellbent to keep 40k IGOUGO. Sad part is that they are expanding into alternating activations in other games.
Hell, even that new Apocalypse ruleset seems way more fun than 40k, but requires a metric ton of models :/

@@patrizierausrom1663 tge Americans had Sherman 76s and were not fireflies. The Firefly was a Brit Modification using the British made 7pndr.

I'm not seeing this comment, but a Panzerschrek is one shot, which means that when Robin used it the first round and found he was out of range, the shot was already used up. He could not have used in in round 2 again to kill the Sherman.
Panzerfaust is a shaped charge, one shot. A panzerschrek is shaped charge, team weapon so the panzerscherk can be fired multiple times.
@@GeeksWargaming I was thinking Panzerfaust when I wrote my comment, I always get those 2 names mixed up. Unless I am mistaken, Panzerschreks can only be taken as a 2 man squad, not as an upgrade inside a team so it could only have been the one shot weapon inside the Grenadier squad.
Ah I see it's easy to get the names mixed up. It was just a faust in this battle, it's an older video so I couldn't remember what I had taken in the army. On review of the shooting rules, I can't find anywhere that says if you are out of range with a one shot weapon it counts as being used. The shooting sequence is: choose target, measure range then open fire, roll to hit. If you have not rolled to hit then I take it you haven't fired the weapon? Do you have a page number in the rules or an FAQ that clears this up?
@@GeeksWargaming Sorry for the delay responding, but when shooting you are correct about the sequence: choose target, measure range, roll to hit. If when measuring range the target is found to be out of range the shot misses automatically. Pg. 53. A missed shot still counts as having been taken.
As an aside, I just found this video when I commented and I enjoyed watching the game.

You said penetrate your tank. Do you guys penetrate each other?
Ok have I misunderstood the "pinning" rules?? Thought you had to hit( not necessarily wound) to award a pin marker.

@@GeeksWargaming have a "short" company. An officer three squads SS each w/lmg, med mortar and a Puma( or Panther). Second platoon has an officer( butter bar equivalent) a squad of pioneers, a squad of Grenadiers, Hanomag w/pak36 towing a pak40, a remarked jeep w/trailer hauls their ammo, a sniper team, forward observer, flamethrower, or panzerschrek team (depending on what my Sons field) kind of like a late war "hey you" force.
Two of my sons are fielding U.S and British/allied armies of a starter box plus bits and parts each.
Makes for a lively afternoon.
Yes he missed and applied a second pin marker. I think they just made a mistake in round two..it happens.

Cool, I never knew there was this out there. People allways seem to like the same things, EG Manga, Zelda, War craft, Pokemon, war hammer, Dungions and draggons, magic the gathering, this is TRUE taste, all the others are for nerds. You may want to cheque out Army men by 3DO. I collect toy soldiers and police fugures and I even have some old aluminium soldiers I got from Ebay. I refuse to buy warhammer and the rest. I am not a nerd, I prefer things that are based on REAL events and REAL people. Anyone could come up with a fantasy story, it's all made up in peoples imagination, war locks and bull shit like that. How can one character be more powerful than the other when it is entirely in the imagination, you could invent an ant that hase god like powers, it's all made up and stupid.
